My dad and I were able to make it to the second to last game the day before. The next day watching this game and intro had my dad reliving his childhood. What memories we had. Miss you dad!
Thankyou O's for my beautiful memories as a kid!!!! Went to a game in the 1966 World Series!! Great announcers...Great players!!!Great teams growing up!
Nice to hear Jon Miller again. Bought the 13-game Sunday ticket plan to make sure I could go to this game, which I attended with my brother. I can still picture Mike Flanagan slowly (very slowly) walking in from the bullpen in the 9th inning, and see his footprints on the infield dirt.
My brother and I were there for that game and it was truly special. I lost my brother a few years back but the one thing I can always look back on with fond memories was me and him going to 33rd Street and watching the O`s.
Watching this in 2019. With tears in my eyes, I remember this like it was yesterday. To be an Orioles fan is to love the team. This is my childhood. What a moment.
It was something about driving to the game as a kid and when you saw a glimpse of the upper deck and you knew you were close. The way they painted the seats if someone told you they were blue seats you knew they were the good close ones .
What a wonderful tribute to Orioles baseball at Memorial Stadium. To see Earl Weaver a the final person in an O's uniform come out was an amazing and emotional sight.
My brother-in-law took my nephew to that game. My sister had a girl scout outing and my brother-in-law took my nephew to McDonalds. When he picked the test up he said "look what I found" and had 2 tickets to the game. That little guy was so excited. He made my brother-in-law stop by the house so they could record the game before they went to the stadium. He also took him to the first game at The Yard.
I had to come back to this video to see Brooks Robinson go out to third base. May he rest in peace. I always enjoy seeing these great Oriole legends. Thanks for the upload.
Wow that brought out some emotions. Been a long time since that day and the many days I spent out in the left field bleachers. Camden Yards is a worthy successor, let's add some World series banners there now.
I don't remember which podcast I was listening to today, but this was mentioned on one of the shows. I have no attachment to the Orioles but even for me this was emotional as I saw all these players in person or on tv.
What a season to remember, all those amazing players, having Bob Turley who opened Memorial Stadium and Mike Flanagan who closed it standing on the mound together, to alot of the big name players from 54 to 91 (Bob Turley, Boog Powell, Frank Robinson, Brooks Robinson, Cal Ripkin, Jim Palmer, and all of the other names), to the World Series teams of 1966 and 1983, to Earl Weaver on the field again, to Rick Dempsey leading an Orioles Cheer for the final time, to personal childhood memories, and to hear Rex Barney say his iconic "Thank You" there for the last time, it was truly a memorable day. I was lucky enough to be there for the day before, but couldn't get tickets for the final day. What great memories of a grand old lady and a bonifide field of dreams. Rest Easy old girl and Thank you for the memories.
I was at this game, I grew up watching the Orioles and Colts play here in Memorial Stadium. Great memories some sad and some happy. Damn shame what my city has become.
Does he say it? It looks like he doesn't say it! I'm looking for a video of him saying it. I was astonished to hear it at my first game at Camden Yards in 1995 (what a year for that... i didn't know it was an older catchphrase until today)
My goodness....the great Chuck Thompson was about 80 years old at the time of this broadcast....and he sounds just as good then as when he was the Birds regular announcer during their heyday in the late 60s and early 70s.....
This is actually my video and soon ill upload it at better quality but every time i watch it i get tears....Memorial Stadium is where most of my Orioles best memories came from, Not knocking Camden Yards because that place is the blue print for modern parks today but memorial is where Orioles Magic happen.
I have the video that I recorded that day from my seat between third base and home. No studio chat, of course, just the PA announcing, but its really good quality.
I only went to one game at Memorial Stadium, in 1980, but I am enjoying watching the way they did the last game there. I grew up in New Jersey, and I went to the last game at Connie Mack Stadium (formerly Shibe Park) in Philadelphia in 1970. My dad took me to the game, and I was 15 years old. Shibe Park opened in 1909, and the Athletics and then the Phillies played there. Before the game had even finished, people were tearing the stadium apart. They walked out with rows of seats and everything else they could dismantle (I have a bolt that used to hold seats together, that's all). When the game ended, people (I don't want to call them "fans") poured onto the field. The players ran for their lives into the clubhouses. My dad said, "We'd better get out of here." I admire the way the Baltimore fans behaved at the last game at Memorial Stadium and the way the club honored the former and current Orioles.
Thanks for posting this...with all that has been happening here and around the world, it is nice to just bask in such happy memories. I like to say Jim Palmer and I were rookies together--I was five or six when he came up. What a team that was; when I see that shot of Brooks at third as Frank runs by...well, grown men do cry.
I didnt go to THIS game...but was at the last OPENING DAY game at Memorial Stadium...and plenty in between. My sister Terri passed away in feb of this yr and she and I shared MAAAAAAAANY memories at Memorial Stadium....I cant even think about that ball park without thinking of her. I miss her and I miss the awsome times we had at Memorial Stadium. Love U Terri!!!!
I'm telling you boys and girls, when Rick Dempsey starts spelling out Orioles and the fans start in? You just can't buy that kind of loyalty. -mikenotpaula.
This is awesome! I was only 4 when this occurred but I grew up on stories my father and uncles told me about Memorial stadium and remember passing by it in the car. Proud past right here. :)
Walking to our seats before the game, I spotted Boog. OK, he's often at games, so that wasn't a big deal. But then I saw Dempsey, who was supposed to be at the Brewers game. At that point, I turned to my friend and said "Oh, they're planning something special!"
I was about 4 or 5 years old back in the 80's ('86, '87 or '88) my parents took me and my brother to Memorial Stadium to watch our very first ball game. I would cry every time the crowd cheered cuz i didn't like the loud noise of the crowed every time they cheered in response to what was going on the baseball field.
I was pissed at my Dad for us leaving after the final out, I wish I was there for post game ceremonies. The Orioles were not the last baseball team to call Memorial home, the AA Bowie Baysox played there next year. Tippy's Cantina, run by former Oriole pitcher and then Towson U. baseball coach Tippy Martinez was the minor league version of Boog's Barbecue that year.
Dedicated as a memorial to all who so valiantly fought in the world wars with eternal gratitude to those who made the supreme sacrifice to preserve equality and freedom throughout the world -time will not dim the glory of their deeds. I miss reading this. This, I believe was the source of the magic for the O's.
Detroit copied this pretty much in 1999 when they closed Tiger Stadium.. I cried being there and ya know, I even had tears watching this and the Orioles. If you lived these years and love baseball you cannot help it.
I love this. I was there. Still have the tickets (cased and autographed by Palmer, Weaver, and B. Robinson) and a jacket that I bought that day. Also the program.
Before big $$ forever changed the game. Ballpark was affordable for working families. Stadiums were named after heroes and not financial conglomerates.
I can remember being there with my dad and both of us kept saying "We can get through this without crying and totally losing it." We both lost it as soon as Brooksie was shown in the dugout. All I kept thinking was that I never saw anyone jump so high as he did after the O's won the 1966 World Series.
Thanks so much, I turned off the game just before it was over never realizing what was to transpire. Now some 20+ years later I get to see all the old Orioles honored. Did I miss Paul Blair?
I was there---when Brooks trotted onto the field accompanied by that stirring music I lost it!! God I was blinking the tears away throughout that entire ceremony--unforgettable!!
Thank you to Tim for posting this. I grew up in Baltimore and spent many a summer night witnessing the magic of the incredible guys who wore the Oriole uniform. What a memorable time at Memorial Stadium!!

Loved that old dump!
Me too!
I was there, upper deck outside right field. Gracious, 33 years later and tears still come to my eyes when I see this.
Thankyou O's for my beautiful memories as a kid!!!! Went to a game in the 1966 World Series!! Great announcers...Great players!!!Great teams growing up!
I watched this back in '91. Hadn't seen it since before now. Thanks!

William Cowger sorry about your brother
Very sorry for your loss. Good old Memorial Stadium.
Wow I can't believe how classy this organization was in retiring the old stadium.
Imagine how much money the O's spent on bringing all these guys in and then dressing them in all full, personalized uniforms!
I never was an Orioles fan but I’m a huge baseball fan and remember Brooks Robinson , Earl Weaver, Cal Ripken Jr.
All those stars on the field at one time. What a great way to close Memorial Stadium.
Watching this in 2019. With tears in my eyes, I remember this like it was yesterday. To be an Orioles fan is to love the team. This is my childhood. What a moment.
As a fellow Orioles fan I empathize with your emotion.
Yup and how about today, now that Brooks is gone?
John Miller’s voice is so iconic
I was there . 9 years old and u still remember..
Watching this reminds me of how GREAT this franchise was and can be again. No reason why Oriole Magic can't return, and it WILL! No doubt!
And here it comes...
@@nicholaslloyd5623 right on time
2023 and hopefully the next 5 - 10 years after that.
@@NatureB35 yes but after each young guys contract comes up they'll leave like Machado. Angelo's worst owners ever

What I love about this they were the uniform when they played for the Orioles
I weep every time I see it. And I've only watched it about 100 times.
RIP to the greatest ,brooks robinson.

Memorial Stadium back in the in late 80's. Catch a foul ball and hear...."Give that fan a contract!"

Its the theme song to the play Pippin.
