- This video was made in our neighborhood thus the wind (9mph with gusts to 18mph) was quite intermittent due to the surrounding houses and trees.
In this video, I've added a mount with a 16mm ball bearing pivot that can be attached to a pole via an M8 by 1.25mm thread. I used a 50mm bolt threaded into the pivot and held vertical using my trusty vacuum vice.

Designed using Autodesk Fusion 360, sliced using Ultimaker Cura 4.12.1, and 3D printed in Tough PLA on Ultimaker S5s and an Ultimaker 3e.
Beautiful design!
Thank you Donny, I truly appreciate your comment!
Greg
Excellent 😊👍 Pivots nicely as the wind direction changes 👍👍
Hi GrandadsOtherChannel,
I've some more testing to do in an open field environment (e.g. less turbulence) but it appears to weathervane appropriately.
Greg
Hi, GrandDad ! How's the coffee shop? I have not been getting your POSTS lately. 🙂
Greg, nicely done. I like the fact that it doesn't need a motor, batteries and any electronics. I want to try this when you post the design..
Thank you woodwaker1!
How are you doing?
Greg
@@popzct Doing well, slowly getting back to normal - whatever that is. Thanks for asking
I'm amazed how smooth everything runs. It seems super quiet too. Awesome job.
Thank you very much, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Greg
Wow, that wing movement looks so smooth!
Thank you very much, I hope you enjoyed it!
Greg
Wow, nice and smooth. This would look good as a butterfly too like your hand crank one from a while ago.
Hi Nick,
Well it appears you have a link to my Autodesk Fusion360 account...
:)

@@popzct😂
Plesant and satisfying motion. Provides wind direction and possibly wind speed, just need to relate wing strokes per second.
Thanks Steve, I hope you enjoyed it!

exito y salud
These designs are always great
Thank you so very much HyperspacePirate, I truly appreciate it and thanks for visiting!

❤
Thanks Peter!

Do you believe the MODEL could be larger, the prop smaller, and the offset (distance) between them further (maybe with a longer drive shaft or using a belt drive) ? 🙂
Yes, yes and yes.
:)
Greg
@@popzct Thanks Greg ! I purchased the book "Fusion 360 for Makers" and plan to start it this weekend. 🙂
How do I get the design and didn't even talk about it
I'm sorry, but I do not understand.
Greg
It needs a real weathervane Vane to turn easily.
Hi Jim,
So far it appears to work well as the center of rotation is offset such that the blades rotate to the downwind position.
Greg
Very cool 😊
Thank you sir, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
