Was there today, the actors were rehearsing, bright sunny blue sky, could smell the thatched roof and the wood its made from, it's a very real experience in our sanitised/strip lighted/air conditioned age and you just get lost in it, definitely worth a visit even if you don't like Shakespeare, just for the experience.
instead of moaning about having to watch this at least one person could’ve wrote facts down about this for us to copy so we didn’t have to watch this 😂😂
To the comments being like :« oh this is so useless my teacher forced me to watch this » …Did you ever consider that theater might help you as a human being or simply be enjoyable ? Plus school is also supposed to teach you some culture. Anyways, I've been twice at the globe and it was a blast both times, once in summer and once in winter ! Both are very different from each other and from what you usually see.
Lovely doc...only wish it had concentrated on two of the finest performances seen/heard in The Wooden 'O' -- Roger Allam's Falstaff and Jamie Parker's Prince Hal (Henry IV, Parts 1 and 2, 2010). If you want to understand why Shakespeare is such a big noise, these are the two actors who make him understandable, resonant, human and true. The best of the best. They can and will transform how you think of the Bard.
He could have kept that Compton comment to his self. Just because people live in the hood doesn’t mean they cant like plays. I don’t understand the correlation.
Staunton, VA, was first to build a Black Friars Playhouse replica. The American Shakespeare Center there has done a great job working in tandem with the Globe. If you can’t get to England, Staunton is a great place to go.
I don't get why teachers make students watch this, most don't even have the intelligence, maturity to appreciate it. I was there and some of the kids next to me couldn't care less about the performance
1:35 brags about making people stand in the rain for 3 hours. Shakespeare for masochists? 1:42 He says "they stand with excitement and good cheer" while they show people standing, bored, arms crossed, hoping it ends soon + audio of laughter dubbed in. 6:45 Those three are really enjoying themselves. Not. 13:10 they brag about removing "huge long scenes" to "make it work." I would that they had blotted a thousand lines. 17:38 "Stupidity is what audiences love" Homework tip -- expand the video description, click on "Show Transcript". Alt "E" "F" (find) then search for words that are in the question you need to answer.
I'd like to thank the person who posted this. Thanks for giving us all more homework.

Thank you, Sam Wanamaker!
I was lucky enough to see The Merry Wives of Windsor at the Globe in 2008. It was hilarious!
I love this! I’m going to put Sam Wanamaker in my LEGO model of Shakespeare’s GLIBE theater
I saw Measure for Measure in the Globe on a trip to the Channel Islands. It was a fine experience. No other live Shakespeare comes close.
