Having heard the Chaconne played countless times by the greatest artists of yesterday and today, I can say that this performance is on a par with the best I have ever heard.
This is the only Bach piece that I can find on TH-cam played by Markov... I actually didn't expect this to be good since he always plays those "crazier" stuffs but now he surprised me. It's certainly a fairly easy piece for him to master in his own style.
Markov doesn't play chacone. He sings it on the violin. I don't know how many air violin contains but Markov somehow managed to create voice of the whole baroque organ. Endless bow, endless voice. I think his Stradivarius created rest of the conception. Markov let his violin sing as Bach wrote it and as baroque church organ registers would blend the sound together. The most natural conception ever. It is a pitty that professional recording doesn't exist.
finally a video of markov playing Chacone! often wondered how he would play it. would love to see him play Caprice basque aswell if anyone has it? Thankyou for uploading this!
Chaconne is the last movement of Partita No. 2. Accurately, it should be just "Chaconne". On to other matters, I think this on par with or surpassing Itzhak Perlman... Markov deserves more respect.
@Susej Christ I wrote that three years ago and at the time I didn't realize how true that was. How they reached to the Santa Inc. fiasco really opened my eyes.
Ha. No much discipline as expected but it somehow works. Conception is questionable but ingenious. These Russians :) If you want to hear totaly different chaconne, listen to Midori Goto's version which is essence of discipline to the last detail. Day and night. Both versions are IMHO titanic. th-cam.com/video/KgSKvOAJMb8/w-d-xo.html

@Jonah Hayek There is no best. There are many on a roughly equivalent stellar level.
I think Menuhin's is one of the best
Alexander Markov, maravilhosamente virtuoso!🎻🎼🎶🎶🎶
ALEXANDER MAKOV x BACH!!! Divino!!! 🎻🎶🎶🎶

Dam’n best one!!!

A masterful performance of the Chaconne!
If someone were given 500 years to learn the violin, he would play like this

Perlman is a Jew. Jews always have to come first.

He enjoys showing off..and should do, because we all enjoy it just as much
Albert and Alexander Markov ❤️❤️
Gorgeous
Loved now continuous and melodic seamless it sounds there’s an unbroken thread of flowing voices from the deep
Verry nice!
Fantastic chacone. I had enjoyed a lot.
I love his hair
marvelous memories
amazing. as always ..
Wow.
Perfect! Sounds like Perlman :D
9:52 magic
If Pagannini were somehow resurrected, i think this is how he would play it.

This is not Paganini. It's Bach
I think only Oscar Shumsky's recording is almost equal to this wonderfull performance.
Why is the background warping? Lol
This man needs to start learning to play another instrument. He needs another challenge. Obviously, for him the violin is far too easy to play.
Hear hear
the Markov is the best violinist . He is best that Vengerov is best that the Nathan Milsten. He not is best that the Perlman, they are some.
This is not the Partita Nº2
This a cacone is not a partita N2
What a jumble! He is absolutely no match for Milstein for this piece, even though his 24 caprices is beautiful.
imbecile
