I liked how she talked about white balance. Even if you shoot in monochrome, on many camera bodies (as long as you have a color sensor), setting white balance can increase your contrast on your monochrome images. It's like using the color contrast filters for black and white, but you have more fine grained control. It's also a helpful thing when post processing since you can adjust the color curves to change the look of the monochrome images

Absolutely superb and so good to see such a level of color theory from someone outside of the fashion industry! Learned a lot 🙂

Nice. I'm gonna have to watch this again at least once more. I guess you have to change the kelvin as the sunsets/rises if you want to shoot through & not just wait for one color combo. Thanks for putting the vid up.

I got about 20% of what she said. I will have to watch it again.

I loved this... I do have a question though. The slide starting at 24:00 seems incorrect.... the higher the K° number the COOLER and the lower the K° the WARMER... does confuse me.

Yes, looks like some text got mixed up on the slide, the graphic on the side correctly shows higher Kelvin temperatures as cooler, and lower Kelvin temperatures as warmer.

Wonder how she captured that unicorn "in the field"

She’s totally wrong about white balance. You can set it in post and it’s the exact same thing.

Thank God you mentioned that because you're clearly far more experienced at this.

@@bigblindray wow, brilliant comment. when you eventually get a clue what you’re doing and learn that i’m correct and this isn’t even controversial, you’ll remember making a fool of yourself! not to mention, you have no idea what my experience is

@@EH-pm1keoh I'm sorry. I forgot you are the authority on all things white balance. Here is your medal. 🥇
