I really appreciate your videos. I am a widow and when my husband died last year I was lost, and now a year later so is my yard. i am so embarrased and I cant even get a landscaper to return my calls. My husband always handled these things and I didn't have a clue of where to start. U have given me hope and courage to go to the hardware store and buy some tools. I think I can do this. thank u
So sorry about your hubby.Are there any young men in your family you can pay to mow for you?I used to mow my own grass but I was tired of the sinus headaches etc.I pay a guy to mow mine now,just the front and small sides.I have all trees in the backyard.
In my make believe world, my son mows my lawn and the money saved gives him an inheritance.

Sorry for your loss. Many women are in your shoes. There must be mowing services doing your neighbors' yards. When you see someone mowing & they have a nice truck & trailer (sign of a good business), go up & ask them how much it would cost to have your lawn mowed. Tell them you want to have them do a trial run and if you like how they work (mow, edge & trim) then hire them on a month to month basis. If you live in Florida, where the grass is cut all year, don't sign a contract. Have confidence, good luck and God bless.
That yard has the most utility boxes, utility posts, gas lines, meters, and what all that I've ever seen in one yard.

When a yard gets that far out of control, it definitely takes more than just a one time mow. Looks WAY better than before you started.
thats what people don't understand I bought a riding lawnmower and some neighbors are cheeky they expect you to cut and maintain their yard for free
@@blkice2789 Yeah, it's really sad that people feel they are entitled to your time and efforts and that they shouldn't have to compensate you for it - in any way shape or form.
Only good answer is that it is a vacant property. With all due respect, anyone who would let their property deteriorate to that degree has some real issues. Your clean up was excellent. I trust it was appreciated!

Yeah, lawns have to be mowed regularly to look decent. Something about the chlorophyll residing in the top of the growth. This worked for me on a lumpy, brown 'lawn' just by cutting it regularly at the same height! Good job, Sam!

That was up to the developer to do it that way. That would be crappy cuz now you have a permanent easement to the backyard

They usually use them one summer then leave old gas in them and then they can't get the mower to sart next spring then this happens

All about laying down some heavy weed killer everywhere starting over otherwise it all comes back stronger than ever you’re totally right Weeds love to be cut down without having the roots ripped out or killed with the weed killer because they just come back with a vengeance

If one can't do yard work (for whatever reason) and doesn't want to do it (again, no HOA to comply with, no desire to deal with it, etc) then that person should live in an apartment. That could be such a lovely yard!!! Can't fathom having this nice brick home and letting its surroundings get so out of control!!! Bet the neighbors are pleased, too!!

This is why I'm glad I don't do residential work.
If you had to bag all that thatch .. how long do you think youd be at that property .. and would be an extra charge to bag and take the grass/thatch ..

being a former AC tech, we always hated coming upon this type growth. most home owners dont think about this area until theA/C ,gas man or meter reader needs to get in there.

Electric mowers today are awesome. Any woman could do their own lawn, with the exception of a person who has limitations, due to their health. I've seen 80 yr old Amish ladies mowing with a reel mower...little at a time. Sure hope this owner is not dealing with bad health issues .. You are kind. Thanks for helping them. Those poles in their yard should never have been placed in one persons yard...developer....failed on this one. Where were the inspectors??
I used to be a cable TV service tech. Don;t think I have ever seen so many pedestals in one persons yard.

An unkept yard makes me crazy. My solution? Goats. Make sure it’s gated, provide a couple buckets of water each day per goat, set yourself up in a hammock, cooler of beer. Done.
A good line trimmer can solve a multitude of problems
If roots are a problem, a good solution would be SHEEP. I’m sure a local farmer would drop a few off for about the price of a weed eater. Six of them, one week. They would eat everything right down to the dirt. No yard waste. Free fertilizer to boot.

Most pro's like their Stihls, Echos, but as a regular guy I can't stand when something is wrong with the carb and you just pull, and pull. Very frustrating. I'm thinking of going with a battery unit. Like gas, but it can be a pain in the ass.
