    Nobody and I mean nobody can touch her audience inside the arena and those skating fans watching around the world when she skates like that. . Forget all the footnotes that came after her. She is the one and only original Queen, The bomb and beyond a shadow of a doubt The G.O.AT. . The legendary Michelle Kwan.

    20:48 - Michelle Kwan

    The male commentator was really rude calling Carolina Kostner “gangly.” If women are too fat, they’re criticized. If they’re too thin, they’re criticized. Jerk.

    How could you beat that Michelle's performance ?

      No triple triple that’s the problem.

      @@lkfrostad Michelle had triple triple combo since 1995~ 2005( not every time ), which means her technique was stable and better than the other skaters like Tara or Sarah had triple triple combo just for 2~ 3 years. 😎

      @@lkfrostad Michelle kwan finished no lower than 3rd place between 1995~ 2004, her longevity was unreal and hard to close for the other skaters because she had the whole package more than just triple triple combo. (*^ω^*)

      @@TT-ee4qp don’t get me wrong, I loved her too but I felt she was good enough to do more triple triples that’s all. Btw I am Olympian and do have some insight into her thinking

      @@TT-ee4qp one more thing. I saw her do a triple salchow triple loop combo in practice and it looked easy and awesome.

    Unpopular opinion: I always thought that Michelle Kwan was overrated. Her skating was like slow motion, the system used to favor her, and she didn’t revolutionize figure skating like the other skaters (Russians and Japanese). She was always in her old comfort zone. Fortunately, the evaluation system changed and we could see that Americans used to be favoured by it, to the point that they don’t have any Olympic champion these days. Kwan couldn’t win any medal after that because she was never good enough, but like I said before, the old evaluation system favoured her.

      Well, the thing that helped Kwan win many World titles was that she was more consistent at landing all of her triples than her competitors. Only ones who beat her had higher difficulty in their programs as well as being consistent throughout their skates in the SP and FS (ie Butyrskaya in 99, Hughes in 02 Olympics, Slutskaya). When the system changed, Michelle and her team were to blame for her programs not being kept up to the difficulty of the skaters who were upped their game. If you look at the past World and Olympic Champions from the US, the thing was they were all able to skate the cleanest and prior to 1991, excelled in Compulsory figures. These days, the US skaters have the potential as seen by Ziegler and Thorngren but they’re far from being consistent like Kwan, Yamaguchi, and Fleming were.

      Definitely an overrated skater, especially toward the latter years. 1995-98 was her sweet spot. But she basically did the same program to different music after 1996. Problem was rarely could other skaters put two programs with great performance level like Lipinski and Hughes did in Olympic years. Consistency wins most of the time even in todays skating.

    • @3Axel1996
      @3Axel1996 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@micheledaniels6409 Her sweet spot actually lasted until 2001. Once she departed from Frank Carroll and Lori Nichols, her programs became cookie-cutter as you described. Nichols created programs using music that was different and pushed her skating with the choreography. My favorite program was her 2000 Long Program to The Red Violin.

      @@3Axel1996 I can concur with that. Definitely after 2002 Olympics I think she should have retired, and I think that departure from Nichol/Carroll was disastrous. Would love to know the real story there, because I never bought what was announced on the subject. I did love that Red Violin program, that was one her top 5 for me. 😀👍
