    If you do the hot glue in a bucket of water instead of on a flat surface you'll get the 3D rounded look immediately which will make it a lot quicker and easier for you

    An easy way to 'age' paper and string, make a bowl of very strong black tea (no milk) a small piece of sponge, with your sheets of paper, lay them flat separately and gently sponge the cold tea to give aging effect. Leave to dry thoroughly before stacking and printing on. Unravel the string and immerse into the tea, leave for a few minutes utes depending on desired colour, then gradually take the end and put onto a wire rack to dry. Roll back up for future use. It's messy but good to keep in a craft box. If you want a ripped effect paper, rip and dab extra tea over the ripped area. Hope that's useful

    I've been searching high and low at tackle shops trying to find non-glittery, black leeches for months. And you guys come up with the idea of making them with hot glue!? BRILLIANT!

    Thank you for actually showing how to do that string and knot at the neck of the jar. I watched another youtuber say that there are instructions to do it on page 3 of her book and then proceeded to move the jar out of camera view until she finished the knotting portion. Not cool, not going to buy the book either. I was going to google it but here you are and you're showing how to do it and how to make leeches. I never thought I'd see them again....interned as a pharmacy tech and thought they were messing with me, telling me to fill an order for some leeches. The way you placed them against the sides of the jar was perfect, they seemed to like to be around the sides of the jar. Nasty little creatures....lol

    • @CookingandCraftChick
      @CookingandCraftChick  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The book your talking about is actually my book, and I do show you how to wrap it in my book on page 3, but I’ve also shown how to wrap the top in like 100 or more of videos too. 😉
      I’m glad my leeches are close to real ones, and ewwww I still can’t believe their still using them. But I guess if it works it works. Lol.

      @@CookingandCraftChick I just found your channel today, so I haven't had a chance to watch many other videos of yours purposely (glad to know there are a lot to watch) - I just was preparing to set up a witches apothecary and needed to make some potions and stuff. I put about 40 or so videos in my queue to watch. I probably skipped out of 10 of them because the creator was speeding through stuff he or she probably knew how to do in their sleep but was new to me, if I don't get to learn it, why watch? Maybe that's just me, but that's why I watch videos to learn to make cool stuff. So potion making and potion bottle prep are the videos I've been bingeing -- many different creators.
      I have to add your jellyfish stinger video to my queue because that sounds perfect - I live in a beach city and that's going to fit right in. My apothecary is going to be 'sea' themed. Think Mermaid scales, Anglerfish lures, Nessie's whiskers, Kraken teeth and other mythical and real sea creatures. Dang, now I may have to buy your book - what's it called and is it on Amazon?
      Regarding pulling the leeches to fill an order, at my hospital, we used long handled hemostats. The leeches were in a gallon sized jar - like those Costco pickle jars, with holes in the lid and covered by a brown bag.

    Love all of these jars!
    QUESTION: I want to make these to be a recurring Halloween prop. How do you store jars with liquid or a substance like this? Have you had any problems with leakage? I’m wondering if I should seal my jars shut with glue and if anything changes about the look over time. Not that looking more aged is a problem 😉

    • @CookingandCraftChick
      @CookingandCraftChick  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They store really well, but try to keep them in a space that is not too hot, it will increase evaporation.

    Is there something i could use instead of hot glue? Or can the glue be painted?

    • @CookingandCraftChick

      You could use actual fishing lure leeches, sometimes halloween stores have bags of leeches, or you could try coloring regular hot glue with a permanent marker.

    Hi, so I made hot glue in water leeches and they look great. But, they keep gradually rising to the surface and don't stay down!
    Anybody got any suggestions...

    • @CookingandCraftChick
      @CookingandCraftChick  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rosie Wilkin I’m not sure why they would be rising, unless maybe your gel is not thick enough to keep them in place. 🤷‍♀️ the only thing I can suggest is that you try thicker gel, or suspend them in resin. 😕 You could also try clear elmers glue but I think they’d either all float or sink. Sorry I can’t be of more help 😞
