My Mom and Dad had a 1965 Impala SS. They bought it brand new. I believe they paid 1995.00. It had a 327 cubic inch 300 hpV8, 300 turbo automatic transmission, color was burgundy, with white button tuck interior. Who knew what those cars would be worth today 🤔. Thank you for sharing this classic Chevrolet, body by fisher.

The 65 and 66 Chevrolet Impala reminds me of Elizabeth Montgomery. Those cars have an emotional effect on me from when I was around 10 years old back then. Lots of them were around. Most were the regular with the 283 V8 and the bench seat. They rusted to death very very fast though In the great lakes areas and coastal areas. Here in Houston Tx which is close to Galveston those cars had huge rust holes when they were only 3 years old. A beautiful car, but idiots not treating the sheet metal when they were built

@@johnwcatterson My parents bought a 1965 Impala 9 passenger wagon with almost the same number of options, but it had the 283. Dealership couldn't move it because it was so expensive but they sold it to my parents at a really good price because they also bought a 1965 Impala Sport Coupe (not SS) which had the solid lifter 409. They were having trouble selling that too, because the 396 had just come out and, also, this black vinyl interior car didn't have A/C. My mother didn't understand why my Dad's coupe went through tires so fast! It arrived six weeks later, and had a 327 under the hood, three speed on the column, black vinyl interior and it came in "crocus" yellow paint. The invoice came in at $3,200.00 from a Chevrolet dealer on Military Ave., in Omaha, Neb. My granddad had a 1965 Impala SS fastback in dark blue. It was a beautiful car with similar trim but in no way as loaded as this car is. No power windows or A/C and the engine was a 327 IIRC but it was still peppy to drive. The car was handed down to my dad and so I got to drive it a lot. The power steering was not variable so keeping it aligned on the highway required a lot of attention and the power brakes were very sensitive to the point you almost went through the front window. I love the color of this car. I had never seen that color on an Impala. This car looks like it came from the showroom - just stunning!

In the early 1990's i bought an "abandoned" 1965 SS Impala in Evening Orchid. Looked just like the car in this vid except mine had the 327 engine & powerglide trans. Was bought new in Huntsville Alabama, driven 50-70K miles, as common at that point the engine "jumped time" & they just abandoned it.

In 1986 I bought a 1965 Impala SS, 396 turbo jet, it was this color, I thought it was called lavender. One night I was coming home from work, the roads were slick after rain. Negotiating a curve I slammed into the curb and wrecked the suspension. I had a junkyard come and pick it up.

I have never seen an Impala with power vent windows. Could they possibly have been added afterwards? When I was a kid my neighbor had a new ‘65 Impala Super Sport hardtop painted Evening Orchid with a white interior. It had a black vinyl top and I thought that black was the only color available.

    • @bobcarlino2806

All full-sized GM cars offered power vent windows in 1965 (and other years), but they were rarely seen on anything other than Cadillacs...and almost never seen on Chevrolets. The car in this video is the only '65 Chevy I've ever seen with power vents. The remote control outside mirror is almost as rare on a '65 Chevy as the power vents.

@@dave1956 That doesn't surprise me. I had a relative who worked as a salesman for various dealers throughout the 60's and 70's. He used to tell me that one of the most difficult aspects of his job was trying to keep up with the manufacturer who consistently made changes to the options list...including what was now or no longer available and/or what the prerequisites were for said options. He indicated that Ford was fairly good about publishing 1-page supplements which outlined the changes, but those were often few and far between, and often stayed with the front desk instead of being distributed to the salespeople. That being said, however, the power vents in the video car certainly could have been added...but that seems so strange for a car that otherwise appears to be completely original. As a kid, we had a neighbor who bought a new '65 Caprice 4-door hardtop. It had a white vinyl top from the factory...not to mention a 396 with a column-mounted 3-speed manual (talk about a bizarre combination!).

I can remember some strange combinations of options over the years as I worked for a wholesale used car business. My favorite was an Olds 88 in the early 80’s that had a passenger side power seat but not a driver’s. We had a dark green metallic ‘81 Skylark with a red interior and a red Pontiac Phoenix with a blue interior. I heard stories about years earlier one of the Buick dealers that we purchased used vehicles from mistakenly ordering a new ‘68 Buick Wildcat with a three speed manual transmission. It took forever to sell that one.

The 1965 Chevrolet factory sales literature shows that the Impala SS was not available with a white top or power vent windows. The owner speculates it may have been a special order "Brass Hat" promotional car, but can not confirm. Still, the car is speculator, with a show-quality restoration. I love it! Thank you for watching my channel. I appreciate it very much.

Steve, great review! In August of 2020 I purchased a '65 Impala SS that had this color originally. The owner had it repainted, and the 327 rebuilt, but the color came out slightly darker. I'm not complaining, as I graduated from LSU and Kansas State ;-). Has this car been appraised? Thanks!

Beautiful car, I remember seeing it on eBay advertised as a "brass hat" car.
Can't remember if it sold or failed to meet reserve.
For 65 full size Chevy, no RPO or dealer installed accessory listing for power vent windows and rocker mouldings.
A dealer could swap in a Caddy power vent setup, and install those non SS Impala wide rocker mouldings though anyway.
It was a good idea to not try and add the matching quarter panel mouldings because they require oval holes stamped in the quarters for the attaching clips to press into which would be pretty hard to replicate.
I have an Evening Orchid with white top and interior 65 Impala SS convertible.
The sun visors are black, but I think they should be white, what color are they on this car?
