Poles really help retrained my free legged Pacer, but it was a loooong process. I’ve ride a lot of SB in my time but mine is actually the one who gave me the more trouble hehehehe. Yours seem like such a good boy :)

I am new to Standardbreds but I love mine. He is so out of balance and he is willing to trot but doesn't want to trot for very long. I am trying to set up poles. How do you measure them? My SB is 17.3 hands and very long legs.

Don't use long reins! Very dangerous since race horses are unbalanced when retired and need to be able to move their heads and necks to retain balance. thanks never the less for showing how amazing the horses are :-)

It's so awkward & somehow silly watching a retired SB pace around a ring. It looks so odd & out of place when I see it anywhere but the track!
