I admit that it’s pretty hard for me to find Halloween DIY’s that I would actually want to make. The ones I do find are really elaborate and costly movie prop type projects. I really loved the crystal ball, book ends and cauldron shaped candle. ❤ I definitely have those on my list of things to make. Thank you so much for sharing your projects and inspiring me.
You are blessed with a great husband. WOW! The blackest paint is expensive and amazing too. There is a paint that is blacker but it's not available for public use. NASA uses it. My uncle was a rocket scientist and he taught me a lot. I really like the candle idea. Nice job. 👍❤️
That’s crazy is it called vanta black? My husband was telling me about that one recently too. My son loves learning about Space and NASA right now especially with all of the amazing images coming out from the James Webb telescope
Great DIY’s! Love that super black, black. And people, you can use pipe insulation from Lowe’s or Home Depot if you can’t get pool noodles. Just know that it has a split in it. So you have to glue that and put it towards the back. And they also only come in black. Love your ideas!
I'm not sure how fire safe it would be, but making the inside of the tea light stands gold would be SO beautiful! I just imagine the flame would flicker off of it and make it glow. Since they are glass, maybe painting them gold first, and then a second layer of black so you have the "peak a boo" effect would work more safely. Loved all of these DIYs!
Love the candles. Something I’ve done in the past to get the melted candles look is to actually melt some of the different color candles from the dollar store and slowly poured them down the side of the project I’m doing
When you paint over the crackle medium you should paint one time one direction. It won't work if you go back and forth. A serrated knife cuts styrofoam and pool noodles easily. I love your creativity!
You’re doing so good babes. You’ve come so far and your projects keep getting better and better. Keep surprising me and your fans. You’re going to do great things
Cutting the hands just gave me a interesting idea, top of hand glued on popsicle stick crossed base, fingers held together with jumprings for dangling adding strings with black and orange bells and creating a wind chime. To be a little extra one could even use the smaller skulls cut a hole in the bottom to feed small bells into and a small hole to feed a string through the top and have hidden bells in the skulls.
I've used the crackle medium. It's been ages since I used it. I used it on a buffet table. I bought it from Home Depot. I was told you have to allow the medium to get tacky. I did just that and I loved how it came out. Also, I was told to put the medium all in one direction. I think I waited 30 minutes for the crackle medium before put on a different color. So I did red paint, then when that dried, I put the crackle stuff on, waited 30 minutes for it to become tacky, then applied the secondary color on. I think the top color was a creme color. I remember loving the look.
I loved absolutely everything that you made> I came across you by accident and then subscribed and rand that receive all bell, Thank you I can't even pick 1
@@angelajonesdiy I put my first layer of paint then let it dry then put the glue on it. I always dry the glue a bit. It still is wet but it's more glossy than white. Then I add my top paint. Go in one direction and one swipe the best you can. You don't want to keep going over the glue.
Girllll you're a genius!! Love how ALL these diys turned out. I'm gonna attempt (🤞) a few of these like the crystal ball, candle cauldron and bookends. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent with us!! 👋👻🎃🕷🕸🦇
I'm currently in the middle of a pool noodle candle DIY and had my partner carefully use his hole saw on his drill press to make the holes for the LED tea lights. The lights fit perfectly inside the pool noodle!
Easiest way I've found to crackle things is Elmer's/white school glue, seriously. Thin layer under paint for fine crackles, thick layer for bigger cracks. I tend to brush both glue and paint in the same direction for the best crackles. Never had a problem with it, hope that helps!
Great projects, the new black paint does make a difference but it does seem to resistant to the plastic & 3 coats? Maybe try a coat over the black chalk pain? Love the cauldron candle paint technique!
Yea it was definitely resistant to the material. Once I painted it over top of the black chalk paint it worked out much better and still had that velvety feel
I watched a few videos of people using this paint before I tried it and I did not seem as thin and runny as mine was. But it still looks and feels really cool
Oh ok that would make sense I’ll try that thank you! Do you also let it dry? The directions say to let it dry before adding the paint on top and I did that
@@angelajonesdiy Actually no! I always go for the method that Deidre from Our Upcycled Life here on yt uses! She glops it on nice and thick and then go straight in with the paint, let it dry and it always comes out looking fantastic. I hope it works out for you!!! The stuff sold specifically as crackle medium is supposed to work after it's dried but it always seems to work better wet. Just be sure to wash your brushes out really good!!
Would recommend an adhesion promoter if you are painting, well really anything but especially plastic. 1 its always going to make it so the paint adheres properly and doesn't just flake off but also going to help cut the use of paint down significantly.

I love painting these skulls. But how do you get the first layer of paint to adhere to the plastic skulls? I have painted and sealed some and the paint scrapes right off.
Did you try sanding the skull first? I find that helps if you rough up the plastic surface
When you're putting paint into the cracks of the hand you can add a little water to the paint to get it more liquidy. It seeps into the cracks easier!
That’s a great tip!
The Black 3.0 should have a base black under it and thin thin strokes or it'll streak. But it's super fun to paint with.

Try plaster of Paris added to your paint for better crackle effects. A 1 to 4 ratio works
Oh interesting I have not heard that technique before. I have a whole container of plaster of Paris. Thanks for the advice 🥰
crackle never fail.... Elmers Glue layer and paint right on top as it dries it crackles
