This is so helpful for students, thank you!
I was diagnosed at 3 and finally about 9 years later I was almost thought to be completely cured but then I had a serious flare so I’m back at square one
Same
Same! Only i was 6
After a life time of diagnosed with RA, I got cured with the help of Dr Oyalo link here on TH-cam and I’m completely free from it till now.
Oh Dam you hate to see it the same thing happened to me and I was on like so many different tablets god it was terrible
Hey I hope you are doing well... May I know what medication are you on ?? Any lifestyle changes ??
Diagnosed with JRA just before I turned 2 and now I’m told it’s JIA. Really was hoping to outgrow it but now I’m 23 and still have JIA. At least it’s easily controlled with methotrexate
What is methotrexate is it a pill ?
@@iceagestoneage8067 yes it is. you also get the liquid form to inject, its called Abetrexate
Hello Aimée, my son 5y.o has JIA, can you please 🙏 give any idea how you handle it, thanks
@@nidznid4310 Hi there. I would say first thing is to seek treatment from a doctor or specialist if you can. They will know the right meds to put him on. Also from my experience diet can play a role in inflammation. Sugar, wheat and processed foods just made my inflammation worse. Try to change his diet to as natural as possible, fruits, veggies, nuts and seeds with your protein and dairy etc. Just try to cut out sugar and processed foods as much as possible! There are also foods that are known for their anti inflammatory properties, such as ginger. Perhaps give some of these a go? I have also found there are creams and oils you can use to reduce inflammation such as arnica oil. Hope this is useful...
@@aimeegranzier8908 have you heard of the lion diet?

Me: Hey I have that!!
Thank you for the lecture
They diagnosed me with JIA a month ago and i’m just worried, but i heard i gotta inject myself with Humira, Hopefully this helps. i remember when they told me I started it crying same for my mom, I just thought i wasn’t gonna be normal no more, I was just asking myself “why me?” Now this is for the rest of my life and i’m only 15.
Itll get better trust me
Humira helped me, I've been injecting my self every two weeks for a year and a bit

Good high yield video! Small correction- the image of the two sisters shows a normal 4 year old on the left and her sister on the right, substantially affected by JIA she is 8 years old- hence the severe limitation of her stature and genu valgum (knock knees) resulting from the disease process (sourced from Lissauer Illustrated Textbook of Paediatrics second edition Pg.444)
very helpfull video thank you so much
you made it so simple. thank you so much
I am 14 and my wrists, back, knees, elbows and fingers basically switch turns on causing me pain. We went to the doctor, they Drew blood, and said it’s nothing but growing pains. But It’s been a year since the pain started and it’s getting worse. And I haven’t grown anymore. I have a bruise like rash on my spine. I’m just really confused.
Marie Teresa dont wait . You need to seek a second opinion. Have them draw blood and request to see Rheumatologist
Please see a Rheumatologist immediately. Took me w while to properly diagnose my daughter when she was two years old. We bounced around from many different doctors. Anybody who simply labels it as "growth pains" sounds incompetent.
I don’t know if you still have this. I’m 16 and I have JIA. For years I was told that I have growing pains. It isn’t until I went to a hospital specifically for children.(Children Hospital Colorado). Try to get an appointment in one of these bigger hospitals with a juvenile rheumatologist.
Isaac Guerrero Yes, it’s still happening. The thing is my parents believe it’s growing pains too. I’ve just been dealing with it.
@@marierosetj My son is also 14, almost 15. He was very athletic up until about a year ago when he had joint inflammation and pain all over his body for the past 15 months... He says his joints are lose, they hurt and crack all the time. He was a track & field athlete, all set to break the 5 minute mile barrier @ 13 when things got shutdown for COVID. Now he can't even run a few hundred meters without pain. So confusing that this came out of the blue and as a parent, I haven't been able to do much. Doctors don't seem to know much about these conditions. Anyhow, I hope you get better.
THANK YOU SO MUCH SIR
I am also suffering from jia era i want information about treatment
you are a professional , thank you
i have this. i have been depressed sense. i am starting treatment hoping things will get better. but i feel alone, like im the only one that has this.
I have it too! It always makes me feel bad when I have to bring up, I know I’m different, but I don’t want people to treat me special and I don’t want to feel “different” ya know. Every time I push my medication times further away, I keep having flare ups. You aren’t alone!
Really nicely done
JazakALLAH sir
Very nice lecture.
Thanks a lot sir.
I have juvenile sestemic arthritis and it sucks I was diagnosed at 2 I'm now 13 and I have many injections everyday my mom first knew something was wrong when I just stopped walking I am right now in a bad flare in my hips and I have that splotchy kinda rash like in the vid
You could study medicine and help others because you have a very special point of view. Certainly, you know more medicine than me at your age
Awesomely informative and perfectly explained! Thank you so much! 😊😊 12/6/2019
Difference?
Explain please.
I was diagnosed at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Southern California in the early to mid 80’s with JRA. Have they changed the lettering and what they’re calling it?
JRA (Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis) is indeed different from JIA (Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis), and the terminology has evolved over time. In the early to mid-80s, when you were diagnosed, JRA was a common term used to describe arthritis in children. However, medical terminology and classification have since been updated.
JRA was a broad term that encompassed several types of childhood arthritis, including some that were autoimmune in nature. In an effort to be more precise and to better understand and manage these conditions, the medical community transitioned to using the term JIA (Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis). JIA is a more modern and inclusive term, which acknowledges that the exact cause of these childhood arthritic conditions is often unknown (idiopathic) and can encompass various subtypes based on specific criteria.
So, while the terminology has changed from JRA to JIA, the focus remains on providing the best possible care and treatment for children with arthritis. It's a reflection of advancements in our understanding of these conditions and the desire to tailor treatments more accurately to each individual's needs. We hope this little explanation was clear enough and could help you understand better your condition!
thank you sir for making it easy
very useful !
thank you sir
All I know is I was diagnosed at 2 and it’s been 16 years. I think I have Polyarticulat bec it affects me knees, ankles, toes, shoulders, fingers and hips.
The same as my daughter
Got diagnosed today 😢
My daughter has this ilness, I advice you to take injection, instead methotrexate.
Injection is called Amgevita.
@@ouassilahaddad100 I might start in December when I do a follow up with my doctor. I don’t know how I feel about it yet though because last time I got shots I passed out.
Sir I dont want to sound like I am complaining but you should mention how common it is. The epidemiology sir.
Thank you
I was diagnosed with oligoarticular JIA when I was 7. I grew out of it I guess, but I wonder if it could have other effects on me as an adult now?
After a life time of diagnosed with JIA I got cured with the help of Dr Oyalo link here on TH-cam and I’m completely free from it till now.
Hi,my 4 yr old daughter has recently been diagnosed with JIA and seeing your message jus gives me hope that maybe everything will subside and this will never ever reoccur and she will just be able to lead a normal life....have u been able to function normally ever since?? M jus so curious to know 🤞
Hello. I am going to make an appointment with the orthopedic soon but i am so afraid this might be the cause of her leg pain
For anyone Studying for USMLE, a fun way to remember the presentation (for my NBA fans out there), think of Juvenile Arthritis as JA Morant (Point Guard for the Memphis Grizzlies (#12) - look up a picture of him for reference):
JA (Juvenile Arthritis) Morant
Morant (6 letters in his last name) = 6 weeks of joint pain in ~6 joints in a child less than 6 years old
#12 = Can happen in children around 12 too
Plays for the Grizzlies
- 2 "I"s in Grizzlies = Affects the Eyes (Uveitis)
- Two "Z"s (pretend they are S's) = Zalmon Zkin Rash
i have had this since i was 5 its 10 years latter and nothing works lol
anybody have any question?
I've had it since I was 2 1/2 and I was in remission for a year, now I have more joints affected. Before I had my knees, now it's my wrist, shoulder, knees and foot.
@@MM-ud2cb im in the uk so its fine 😂 i would explain it as a machine getting cold and stiff and almosty achey and then say thats what your joints feel like. Ive never really had to do that because ive had it for ages. But try and explain it as a severe ache and stiffness. I normally just tell people that im in pain and if they dont understand, then just go away. (Im that kind of person) Any other questions?
@@lilyaird3394 Thank you so much you put into words what I've been feeling everytime someone asked I used to say it feels like everything's locked in place and they would look at me weirdly 😂 How do you cope with school and moving from class to class because at my school the amount of stairs is ridiculous and I have to take a train and a bus to get to school which has really been draining me lately
@@MM-ud2cb i normally just try and walk slowly, and normally my friend waits for me or walks with me :) my school isnt that big so i cope ok
@@lilyaird3394 I'm supposed to be moving schools soon so it's easier for me to cope hopefully I can make good friends like yours, one last question do you have to get blood test often because I'm so scared of needles and it's a nightmare everytime my doctor asks for more tests to be done
@@MM-ud2cb yeah i do but its not actualy that bad normally 4 times a year and my hospital has this cold numbing spray. I also have a deathly fear of needles (really doesnt help after 10 years) and i have numbing cream i put on about an hour before the blood test. You should be able go to the doctor and get a prescription for emmla cream. I always use that i never feel anything. Also, when i was first diagnosed, i had to have tests every week. But if you do have it, they should be able to find out relatively quickly. Hope everything goes ok with it. if you have any questions about anything just ask :) also do u wanna talk outside of youtube? i dont have ig or snap but i can give u my email if u want
thankkkks alot

And the cause????
Life With Expression jia (juvenile idiopathic arthritis) has idiopathic in it, meaning the cause if it is unknown.
