I ran out of good coffee beans two days ago and am now using some stale, pre ground, dark roast I got as a gift and that made me realize how much my morning coffee routine actually impacted my day. Ever since I got an electric grinder I’ve loved making coffee in the morning again. Hoping my new beans will be delivered soon 🙏🏻 Really enjoyed this video!
Love it. I enjoy these videos because I like living vicariously through other's experiences. One day, I hope to have an amazing set up to work with too.
Glad too see I'm not the only excessive coffee person hehe. When I'm passionate about something, I tend to go "all-in". I do every single steps you've done in my same coffee routine on a "Rocket R58 + Ceado E37SD". I wish I had the P100 but I couldn't justify spending twice more than my 83mm.
I also choose a Latte for the first drink of the day,but mine is a Quad. Two differences that might be related to my use of a ROK Hand espresso maker. I preheat the portafilter as well as the machine. I have seen this done with semiautomatic as well, then drying the portafilter. I also dry the shower screen before inserting the portafilter.

Hello Kyle. What a wonderful coffee machine. I also have the Slayer Single Group in dark blue and also enjoy every sip of coffee. At the beginning I had the Steam Presssure set to 1.2 bar and thought, rather less is better... but after I had set it to 1.5 bar the micro foam was just perfect. What a difference.
@@thebaohuynh1973 I didn't look at the price. I wanted the Slayer because I immediately fell in love with this machine. Would say that it certainly doesn't make twice as good coffee as the eagle one prima just because this one is twice as expensive. If you don't have a physical connection to a Slayer, then definitely the eagle one prima is a good choice. Better to invest in a very good coffee grinder. That's where it starts besides the beans how good a coffee will be. But I am not a barista professional.
Did you use any force to tamp, or just set the tamper on top of the portafilter with a preset depth? I do manual WDT but in terms of thinking about having a shop, I'd definitely go for the Nomcore for workflow and possibly one of those automatic tampers from an Australian company just to have consistency and ease of training baristas....but I obsess....My morning routine is to make 2, one for the wife, and one for me.
Hey Kyle, will you shed a little light on how the processing method informs your decisions when selecting development time? When I get a new coffee to roast, my first batch usually is a “one size fits all” approach. I’d prefer to tailor my roast for the origin or processing method, but I’m not sure where to begin (besides preheat temps)
Thanks for the video Kyle. One question: right before you attach the prepped portafilter I notice you let some water out of the espresso machine. I’ve seen this before, but what’s the purpose? Thanks!
Yeah that’s to ensure the water from the boiler to group head is flushed to ensure temp stability in my intended water temp. Also cleans the shower head
@@KyleRowsell especially on lever machines, we take a lot of care about pre infusion. Although I love levers, Slayer is one of the few pump machine I really like.
This is pure fire. Also wouldn't call it excessive. All the little extra moves are 1% increases, and they add up. What is that tamper btw? I don't recognise it and it's not in your kit link that I could see.
Do you find the distribution tool you used here gives a more even result than doing it by hand? I feel like the result before tamping looks a little bit like some areas got more attention than others resulting in those radiating high/low points out from the center, but that also seems kinda reminiscent of those things that make holes to provide predetermined paths for the water... Curious to know your thoughts. Very pretty footage.
Thanks for the reply! So it's included with the grinders then i guess? i did manage to find a slightly larger version of the steel cup at a local store tho
@@slvrbach ease of workflow. I hate cleaning the metal mesh filters. It's an added pain to an otherwise unnecessary step. I'd rather use paper filters which I do from time to time.
Nicely done. But if I'm honest I would have taken you for a straight espresso guy 🙂. I left the milk behind once I really started tasting what the beans have to offer

What pitcher are you using to pour the milk? That clear topped vessel
Breathtaking, by the way
Can't help but notice the lack of a whiskey ball and sink strainer... I kid! Lovely video! :)
I'd love to have that Slayer!
Absolutely beautiful, great filming/editing as always
Thank you!
Is there a reason why you throw in the beans into the chamber first before turning the Lagom on?
Nope. It’s not needed. But whatever way you grind it’s important to be consistent
That was wonderful. Watched as I drank my afternoon cappuccino made from my Niche and Breville Barista Pro.
Wonderful! Thanks for watching
