    A lot of you were asking about repairing scratches on black stainless. It's really just oxidized tape baked on the finish. Our repair techs said that there's really nothing you can do because it's not paint.

      Wish I had known that before we bought all new LG appliances for the kitchen from Brault et Martineau . There's a starch hidden in the bend of the door by the handle screw attachment that was done in the factory and now we are stuck with it. Both refuse to help because it's after 48 hours. Very upsetting as you can imagine.

    This was so hard to watch. I'm glad no-one could see my face but it was helpful. I am so close to making a decision to go to black stainless. The only thing you could have done that would have been more helpful was compare similar scratches on stainless surfaces. I realize it wouldn't show the same way but a scratch like that on any surface is going to be noticeable.

    Samsung fridges are BA all around. Another reason to talk my wife about a Samsung fridge.. nice..
    Weve slowly been converting to Black Oxide (Kitchen Aid) because the looks, KA because the handles. But the Samsung has rad features and evidently durability, too!

      samsung has two layers of paint. like car paint or laminate flooring it has outer clearcoat layer that protects the inner layer. it's a no brainer really but some reports of peeling, still i think i would rather go Samsung if going with black stainless ... but i might just go regular stainless i dunno.

      My black Samsung fridge had the coating peel off without any scratches! Samsung want to replace the doors with black again, fighting with them to have them replaced with standard stainless steel.
      Update - Samsung Australia will replace your black doors with stainless steel doors, hopefully without a coating this time...

    • @YaleAppliance1

      We haven't done that test. Scratches on stainless steel definitely have less contrast than on most black stainless versions though.

    Has the black stainless coating improved at all since this video released? You would think other companies would start doing what Bosch does with their black stainless. I have been seeing that the smudge resistant stainless steel also scratches easily and can peel off but it's just not as noticeable.

    • @YaleAppliance1
      @YaleAppliance1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      With black stainless you can't. They sell aftermarket products to fix but I haven't seen any that really seem to work. If you want black stainless appliances, the best route to go is Bosch. They make the most durable black stainless on the market because there is not a coating like everyone else.

  • @moniquepierangeli6039
    @moniquepierangeli6039 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Please note. You said samsung was the best for black stainless. Unfortunately, there is a huge problem with their finish as it peels off after a short period of time. There are many that have posted on the samsung forum with this issue. My gas stove is only 3 years old and all the black stainless is peeling off..... They will not stand by their product.

    • @YaleAppliance1
      @YaleAppliance1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We did an update to this blog including Bosch's (then) new product lineup which the black stainless IS the actual finish. The rest are a coating added to stainless steel so is susceptible to scratching and peeling. That said, at the time, the Samsung was the best finish in terms of our independent scratch test.

    • @YaleAppliance1
      @YaleAppliance1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depending on the type of black stainless steel, it can be difficult. Don't use any towel that you think may scratch it.

  • @shirleykuester9296

    I have a Samsung and the finish is coming off where the handles area attached to my stove. Not scratched, it is peeling off. Had I known this could happen, I would never have bought black stainless steel. I have the refrigerator, stove, microwave and dishwasher all matching. Not happy!
