    Thanks for this excellent and thorough video! I love Hobonichi, too, and you mentioned all the reasons I'm obsessed with them. Your videos are a big reason why I own 2 (Cousin Avec & Weeks), and gave one (the A6) as a gift. Another thing that's great about the gridded paper is that it makes it pretty easy to duplicate the monthly and weekly layouts in the notes section, if you get your planner early and can't wait to start using it (like I did in the Weeks). Lately, I've been obsessing about the vertical weekly layout that the Cousin has. I agree with you that it would be nice if the Avec version had the weekly, too. So I made a mock up of the weekly layout in the daily pages to try it out for next week. If it works well for me, I think I'll get the Cousin next year, or as you called it, "the planner to end all planners!" I think I need this! :-)

    my only negative is the shipping costs... aside from that, absolutely share the Hobonichi love with you :)x

      +Mean Bakes BRISTOL I know, the shipping costs (and even worse, the Parcelforce charges!) really ruin the experience. I'm addicted to them now so I put up with it, but it's painful every time! xx

    Think I need a Hobonichi or three... - starting out with the cousin. I've been using Moleskins in an offhand manner, but have learned so much from your videos, I've really improved my planning skills.

    I just wish that there was a good folio cover with pockets for the Weeks or a Cousin with a horizontal layout. The Weeks especially is portable enough to be carried in my inside coat chest pocket and pull out whenever I need it but I would love to be able to double it as a wallet.

    Thank you for the vid, but wanted to make sure if you are sure that the cousin 2 books really don't have weekly in it, because looking at the website is showing weekly in the photos, and would like to make sure before I may my decision on which version I want to buy.

    • @VeganOrganizer
      @VeganOrganizer  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching! In 2016 the Cousin Avec didn't include the weekly spread, but that has now changed, and for 2017 they've introduced it! So if you're thinking about ordering an Avec for the new year you can rest assured that you will get the weekly layout :)

    Thank you for giving us such a thorough review. I'm trying to decide on whether I wanted to buy a loose planner such as a Filofax or one bound altogether like this Hobonichi or a Midori and I've got to tell you, I'm a little nervous about making mistakes in a bound planner and having an ugly mistake laden page but I think The Tomoe River paper and the Hobonichi design is winning me over. One thing that really irritates me is that if I were to try to buy the Japanese version in the US, I can't. I checked several stores and they all have the English version only. Does anyone know where in the US I can buy the A5 Japanese version?

    • @VeganOrganizer
      @VeganOrganizer  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Anna Kinser Thanks so much; I'm really delighted that you found it helpful! I know what you mean about the anxiety of making mistakes in a bound planner - but Hobonichis are so awesome that I think it's worth it! It's a source of eternal frustration to me how they're not more widely available internationally. If it's any consolation, the Hobonichi website is really easy to order from and shipping is very quick. If you're in the US, I don't think you have customs charges to worry about either, so it doesn't work out so outrageously expensive. Good luck!

    THis video came at the right time. I just ordered a Cousin last night. :) Do you think the cousin is suitable for sticker/washi use, for decorating etc?

    • @BiddyBop7
      @BiddyBop7 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Whoops you kind of answered my question :)

    • @VeganOrganizer
      @VeganOrganizer  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yay, glad you've ordered a Cousin! I hope you love it as much as I love mine :) I can't remember what I said about stickers/washi in this video, but it's an interesting question that I think doesn't really have one right answer. Personally I feel like some decoration works fine, but because the paper is so delicate I don't really like how it looks with a lot of stickers or washi. Now I don't decorate my Cousin or Weeks at all, and decorate the A6 sparingly. However, I do know of other planners who use a lot more stickers and washi in their Hobos and are completely happy with it, so I guess the best thing to do is decide what works best for you after you get it.

    Would you be able to list the website? I had a quick look, but couldn't find which one is the official/best website to get them from. Thanks! Will look into this further!

      +Biddy Bop Sorry about this; I should have listed it in the description box. This is the official Hobonichi website: www.1101.com/store/techo/2016/planner/lineup/

    Does the Techno Avec has the weekly view?

    • @VeganOrganizer
      @VeganOrganizer  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm so sorry, for some reason this comment didn't show up in my feed and I've only just seen it now! I hope this answer doesn't come too late to be useful to you, but the 2017 Cousin Avec does include the weekly view. (This is the first year to do so; previous versions didn't have it.)

    Where are your tab/clips from?? 😍

    • @VeganOrganizer
      @VeganOrganizer  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I got them from the bookshop Waterstones (in London). They're made by a brand called 'that company called if'. They have a website, www.thatcompanycalledif.com, but it looks like they only sell to trade. :(

  • @BiddyBop7

    One more question, how does the price compare compared with other planners? thanks!

    • @VeganOrganizer
      @VeganOrganizer  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Biddy Bop The A6 planner is around $19 and the A5 planner is around $33 (prices are in yen, so this is an estimate), so not that bad compared to a lot of planners. When you add international shipping on top of it (and, if you're in Europe, customs fees) it gets more expensive, but I still think they're worth it!

    • @BiddyBop7
      @BiddyBop7 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Vegan Organizer Thank you for your reply!! I am in New Zealand. I think if I could just walk into a shop down the road and buy one, then I would. That price isn't too bad, perhaps I will get one down the track. For now, I will keep doing my research and daydreaming. I have told myself no more planner purchases for 2016 in any case ;)

    • @VeganOrganizer
      @VeganOrganizer  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Biddy Bop I know what you mean - the biggest downfall of the Hobonichi is the international shipping, but I am such an addict that there is no going back for me, lol! I admire your no more planner purchases for 2016 resolution :)

      Four years later ... Kokuyo on Amazon has 12 dollar covers that are very sturdy that fit the cousin. And I noticed this year, they mention it on their website as options as well, even though it's a different brand than hobo.

    I have been thinking about getting the cousin for 2018. Does the Japanese writing bother you?

    • @VeganOrganizer
      @VeganOrganizer  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, not at all; I really like the Japanese writing - but I love languages, so it's just a bonus for me :) It doesn't get in the way, so I don't think it matters whether you can read it or not.
