WALKING ALONG THE STREET OF PONCIANO (C. BANGOY), DAVAO CITY, PHILIPPINES

Connecting Quirino and San Pedro Streets in Davao City is a road that carries two names. Officially, it's Cayetano Bangoy Street. However, many Dabawenyos, regardless of age, continue to call it Ponciano Reyes Street. This reflects the lasting impact of the man for whom it was originally named: a respected lawyer who played a key role in southern Philippine governance, including his involvement in a formal agreement between the Philippine governor-general and the Sultan of Sulu.
Davao City, officially known as the City of Davao (with local names in Cebuano, Hiligaynon, and Tagalog), is a highly urbanized city located in the Davao Region of the Philippines. Covering 2,443.61 square kilometers (943.48 sq mi), it is the Philippines' largest city by land area.
