I was the manager for a department store and when we threw away stuff it was all to be ripped up before we put them in the trash. I finally got the main office to let us donate to the women's shelter. A much better use.

@@simrankaur-nn9vr It was store policy. That's all I was ever told. Years later, after I took a better job, they stopped donating. The new manager didn't want to bother with it. Some people just don't care that much for those less fortunate. Very sad.😒

I'm 100% with y'all about being super irritated with these big companies n how they'd rather throw perfectly salvageable items in the dumpster than donate them to shelter's or the boy's and girl's clubs !!! I worked for DG in NLR Ar n that's what my store did with clothing, donated to boy's and girl's club and shelters. My store also donated food products to pantries near by. Hopefully you're able to salvage some of that 😊👑

The world is getting nasty. I had my Craigslist add removed over and over again after asking for help putting together boxes for the homeless this Christmas. My mailbox was full of such hateful things saying things like they need to work like the rest of us and mean things. I'll never use Craigslist again but it breaks my heart that we actually have people like that living in this world.

Michaels art supply store has lots of home decor items and they do $200 bags for $10. $100 bags for $5 during seasonal inventory, but they also throw out a lot. There r done stores that do great sales.
We grew up very, very poor in the appalachian mountains of WV. Mom always made sure we had clothes, but it was always the bare minimum. She made them because it was so much cheaper. But she went without everything her entire life for her kids. And I know there are loads of that still happening all over the country.
@@patriciahazeltine9986 all they'd (Old Navy) have to do is take the tags off because, despite Steph finding what looked to be a washed jacket- Old Navy does not accept *any* returns that are worn, washed, not in the same condition as when purchased and above all without tags. They don't even accept perfect condition anything after 45 days even with a receipt!
I don't get it either...if you must then slice a tiny cut into the lining inside then it can still be worn if found and not returned or better yet DONATE 🙆 I have zero reasoning for blatant waste 😣

It should be against the law to destroy and throw away clothes, food and other functional items when there are poor people who needs it, good that you save the things from the landfill and donate. In Sweden we have some lokal stores who donate food for people in need instead of throw it away. Love your videos👍🥰❤️

So sad to see clothes destroyed . I use jeans to make blankets and the pockets to make storage space for smalls things like pencils etc. I use some cotton shirts to make flowers for decoration on my projects :) Love the socks :)

When shirts are torn in the back get you a wide piece of lace and just so it but you would want to cut more of the material out and so the lace in the back I have one that I bought at the store and paid $80 for it and I love it

I provide a sewing service out here in Quartzsite, Arizona, for campers and rv'ers who spend their winter in our warm winter climate. I had a couple bring me a very worn favorite Wrangler Jean jacket, and fortunately I had a pair of old Wrangler Jean's that I could do all the needed rebuild with and would not look too new. So yes value in ripped and cut up jeans!! You have inspired me to do more with damaged clothes! The socks can be used for cuff replacements, like in a sweatshirt or a sweater.
You could also make your gd a dress out of some of the jacked up clothes... plus if there are any double ups you can pinch bits from one to repair the other.

Steph, you can cut the sleeves off of fleece sweaters/shirts and use them to make covers/jackets for x small and small size dogs/cats for the cooler weather...I've actually done this, and it works Really well.😁 (And with fleece you don't have to sew)

There are small Ultra Violet Flash lights on Ebay that I use to shine on Glow in the Dark things for my niece to make them shine.. It really gives them a Charge that Glows for a while.. I use it on glow things on my door.. but, I really think it would make the Glow Socks super Fun for the Kids...
I use to work at gap and old navy is a sister store. And I can tell you that old navy doesn’t destroy clothes to throw away lol. Those are damaged and defective clothing. And i’m surprised they didn’t send them back to quality. And some things that have large slits were probably sliced during shipment when someone opened the box. The things that say deodorant is because someone tried them on and got deodorant on the bottom. But i’m fairly sure they don’t cut them. At least in Wisconsin They don’t cut things intentionally

I love when you guys park somewhere and show us what you found. I just want to go in to the store and cuss them out!!! They put those little tags on them to make it look like they came back to the store like that! Ugh! Where the shirts are slice in the back, turn them inside out and just take a piece of the tape that you iron over and pull the 2 ripped sides together and the tape will fuse the 2 pieces together instead of sewing!
I finally scored on a dive I did behind a strip mall with a children's store. Lots of toddler clothes, winter jackets, snowpants. Boots. I saved all from the landfill.
Some of the newer shirts button down the back. I have one with the buttons on the back. It does take awhile to get use to it,but they are so nice and cool.

If they cut straight that's very easy to repair, or if you have a zigzager sewing machine, you can put a piece of cloth inside and then sew it..

Applique. On the leggings would cover the cuts stitch then apply Applique to cover ...
Cut the toes completely off the socks and you then have mini leg warmers or even fingerless mitts.

You can cut the sleeves off sweaters and wear them as leg warmers with boots.
Makes me so mad when they slash perfectly good clothes.
There are small Ultra Violet Flash lights on Ebay that I use to shine on Glow in the Dark things for my niece to make them shine.. It really gives them a Charge that Glows for a while.. I use it on glow things on my door.. but, I really think it would make the Glow Socks super Fun for the Kids...

I use to work at gap and old navy is a sister store. And I can tell you that old navy doesn’t destroy clothes to throw away lol. Those are damaged and defective clothing. And i’m surprised they didn’t send them back to quality. And some things that have large slits were probably sliced during shipment when someone opened the box. The things that say deodorant is because someone tried them on and got deodorant on the bottom. But i’m fairly sure they don’t cut them. At least in Wisconsin They don’t cut things intentionally

Sometimes if they aren't cut and holes especially kids clothes my mom would sew an applaca ( sorry can't spell) over the bad stuff.

Believe it or not I won a spell in bee at age 10. I'm 64. So many unused words after all these years. Spell check couldn't come up with it. Happy thanksgiving ! Please don't put your Christmas decoration yet. My neighbors put there's up last night. So now I have a whole month to have to look at them. Fa la la. La la la la

All you need to get stains out use OXI CLEAN in clothes DETERGENT
I love when you guys park somewhere and show us what you found. I just want to go in to the store and cuss them out!!! They put those little tags on them to make it look like they came back to the store like that! Ugh! Where the shirts are slice in the back, turn them inside out and just take a piece of the tape that you iron over and pull the 2 ripped sides together and the tape will fuse the 2 pieces together instead of sewing!

I finally scored on a dive I did behind a strip mall with a children's store. Lots of toddler clothes, winter jackets, snowpants. Boots. I saved all from the landfill.

Some of the newer shirts button down the back. I have one with the buttons on the back. It does take awhile to get use to it,but they are so nice and cool.
