Amazing. Beautiful restoration; congrats to Piglet. I'm amazed that a loco with such small drivers can still be a "puller", can accelerate quickly and yet has a smooth ride. C'est magnifique.

It was nice to see her in real life. Piglet did a fantastic job restoring this piece of Belgian railway heritage.

I was just about to ask wether the loco would be able to negotiate standard gauge tram check rails when Piglet answered the question for me. Magic!

I wonder if there will be a 00gauge model of Lucie made.

She's a beauty! I'm missing something. Is there a bit of remaining standard gauge track in Brussels, while the rest is meter gauge, or did they regauge some track?

Good question. One for Piglet to answer ☺️

It’s a bit complicated. Basically, all of the track in the centre of Brussels was standard gauge, while the lines running to the suburbs were metre gauge. The line Lucie ran on, a was a suburban line, but was also standard gauge. Three years after her line opened it was taken over by an other company (the SNCV) which operated a metre gauge network around Brussels. It decided to standardise and converted the line to metre gauge as well. Lucie therefore became useless and was sold to a zinc mine. As I mentioned before, there were also standard gauge lines in the centre, but they wouldn’t buy Lucie as they never used steam traction (only horses and later electric). Much later in the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s the suburban metre gauge network was closed. This included Lucie’s old line. Only the standard gauge city centre network remained and on those tracks she ran.
I hope this answered your question.

If I remember right Lucie was exported from Britain to Brussels. Could the locals understand Mr Middleton's nickname?

Was there an opportunity to haul any passengers with Lucie?
