    I have a 25+ year old repair stand that I love! It's an old park stand, they didn't have micro adjust back then and that seems bad with the newer materials. Would love to have a portable solution as well! Thanks for the opportunity GCN!

    As a dj I use my old lighting stand a 7k gas bottle as a counter balance a d lock and cable my wife thought I was mad but when I fixed her cycle not bad she said I have even taken a photo of it working so winning a park tool stand would be a great gift

    This is one of the funniest videos. love it. I already have a repair stand, and didn't enter the competition, but the video was a joy to watch anyway. GCN is the best.

    Would be very nice for my personal bike shop. I tidied up an old shed in front of my house, bought a couple of tools and constructed my own work bench out of a 100year old bench which had been sitting there for years.

    • @BrettIsraelsen

      I detect sarcasm, and it turns out that you can actually remove the back tire, and connect it to the stand instead leaving the front wheel on...

      @BrettIsraelsen 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Granted it is a bit of a pain, but it is possible. There are several benefits over a typical stand (like being able to spin the bike around, not clamping frame, etc), and a couple of drawbacks (like what you pointed out, and the cost).

    I know I'm probably not going to win this- but it's worth a try😉. I would love to win this because I always find it so hard to repair and clean my bike because I don't have a stand, I just leave it up against the wall and have to crouch down and hurt my back in doing so. this would mean every thing to me if I won this because it would help me out so much. Good luck everyone who enters! 😊🙏

    I know it says "Team Issue" on the video but it looks a bit tight trying to fit a bike to this stand if it has proper mudguards on. The bottom end of the front guard could foul on the rail when you clamp in your fork.
    Never tried one of these stands so could "stand", he-he, being corrected.

    • @BrettIsraelsen
      @BrettIsraelsen 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a bike with mudgards, and haven't figured out how to put it on the stand... there might be a hack or bodge that will make it work though. I've just figured out ways to work on that bike without a stand so far.

  • @ex-tractorfan
    @ex-tractorfan 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I can't help thinking that if you knock the back wheel, whilst walking past it, the bike is going to go sideways with the swivel in the forks and crash to the floor, as the bottom bracket isn't clamped. How is that avoided?

      Which country are you in? Also, don't forget that sometimes local shops may give rebates if you order all parts together, so it may be worth asking them. And, it can reduce a lot of hassle to look for components while they will also be able to point out incompatibilities etc which may be useful if you are starting out.

      No luck needed. You remove the rear wheel from your frame and place the frame's rear dropouts into the stand's dropout holder to work on the front wheel. Frame is then sitting on the stand in the opposite direction with the front wheel free to work on. Clear as mud???? LOL
