Here where i live, it's nothing weird hearing news of someone coming to shamans just to win elections. Some of them ended up failing and suffering for mental illness instead. And i was a student in an Islamic boarding school where it's not uncommon to find some students wearing a necklace with a pouch contains ayatul kursiy. It was given to them by their parents, hoping that it will protect them from evils. And most likely the parents didn't even realize that it was shirk because it's cultural. That is to know which job offer is better… etc, Another example, a lot of muslims do arranged marriage. So, a man proposed to a girl. This girl does istikhara to know if he is good to her or not. You are generally right, but the approach is not complete. What you should do with istikhara is perform the istikhara first, then make a decision and go for one of the options. If that was the option Allah wants for you then inshallah he will make that path easier for you. If Allah wanted the other path then whatever you chose will become impossible and circumstances will simply lead you towards whatever Allah has willed. At the end of they day nothing happens without Allah's will and the same outcome would have occurred whether you performed istikhara or not. But performing istikhara is a form of worship and dua, in which you are humbling yourself to the All-Knowledgable, the All-Wise. this in itself will earn you reward from Allah and His pleasure. You don't need to wait for dreams and most people don't receive righteous dreams from Allah; They just dream about whatever they were thinking about that day 😅.

I think the Hadith says if you go to a fortune teller, and not believe him, your prayer is not accepted for 40 days just for going to the fortune teller. And if you do believe him, you have disbelieved in what was revealed to the Messenger of Allah Muhammad ﷺ.

The reason why this things are usual in our countries is because we believe in Allah (swt). But in western countries this are hidden, if this were to be common it will open the room to believe in supernatural, hence believing in Allah (swt).

I don't agree with the point of istikhara prayer. The prophet (s.a.w) don't he recommend us to do the istikhara?

He said the individual should do istikhara prayer him/her self, no one else should do it on his/her behalf. That magician pretending to be a sheikh said he will do istikhara for that sister's marriage to see if it's going to be successful or not, but instead he sent a jinn to her house and possessed her and brang problems. From what I understand the prophet Muhammad (pbuh) advised us to do istikhara ourselves wa Allahu a3lam. Hope this clears your confusion.
