  • What is Gsec?
 Government of India borrows in form of bonds for a fixed period of time to meet its expenditure which is generally more than revenue. The bonds issued by the Government of India is known as government securities or G-secs.
 The government of India issues bonds through an auction process, which is managed by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
 G-secs are tradable securities and are traded on an electronic trading platform, the NDS-OM (Negotiated Dealing System- Order Matching), which is run by the Clearing Corporation of India, an RBI entity. G-secs are also traded on stock exchanges (NSE & BSE). NDS-OM accounts for 95% of g-sec transactions while hardly any g-secs are traded in stock exchanges.
