Its hard for me to lose on Keto. i used to have SIBO. Even tho I dont hav it any more, Ive come to realize fruits & veg now add weight to me. Ive been on BBB&E carnivore & doing well. Thats Beef, Bacon, Butter & Eggs. Its VERY satiating. Fat is the hero. Eat once a day. Hungry in between? Eat butter (Kerigold) or a piece of bacon (yes I cook 2lbs at a time & keep in fridge). Dr Ken Berry is a good one to watch. The weight will fall off without exercise!
@@FermentedHomestead btw I love you vids! Do u kno that almost no one shows how to make Kombutcha from from scratch? (No SCOBY, no Kombucha). I used to make it religiously until 2 back to Back doses of antibiotics made my small case of SIBO take over. Now that Im better I wanted to make the 1st virginnbath & couldn't remember how much sugar! I also hav a batch of water kiefer that smells yeasty, Ive never had that. Found my old recipe & cmfound I was giving them 2 TB of sugar instead of 1/4C. Hope I didnt kill them! Wouldnt be the 1st time (i used them all summer lol then froze them). Last week I made a double ferment soda (ginger, blueberry & lemon peel - was delish) now for the last 2 batches its stinky (yeasty) & no Bubbles. Maybe I need to toss them.
I am 100% an abstainer. Can't be a moderator whatsoever. I am 90 days ketovore today. I've started and stopped many times before. But this time I worked on my thinking and frame of mind. ❤❤ Proud of you for talking about this and being transparent. 😊
hey Anna! i'm an all or nothing person also lol. it can be so frustrating. i really do find that for me, meal prep is the way to success. thanks to creators like acre homestead, 3 rivers and yourself i have really gotten into meal prepping and freezer meals and it has changed my life! just having veggies washed and cut in the fridge or a casserole in the freezer that i literally just need to put in the oven has made the biggest difference! meal prepping is the way to go! i still have a long way to go in terms of where i want to be health wise but your video is definitely giving me the inspiration that i need. best of luck! i look forward to following along with your journey.
I’ve never been good at meal planning or prepping but I think it will be important for my plan! I love them both too and I’m looking forward to her collab next month! Sounds like you’re doing great! We got this!
Ooh, this Keto Rewind gal sounds great. She's 100% correct, getting your head straight IS THE KEY! I'll have to go watch her stuff. This is the thing that makes it or breaks it for my clients every day. Mind you, I specialize in working with the very sick (autoimmune disease and cancer). These folks feel so crappy that they can't even get off the couch. But once they make the mental commitment and we get a plan together, they do incredible things. Being their cheerleader and therapist is a really big part of my job. We rage, cry, scream, laugh, and celebrate together every step of the way. Change is hard, but so is living with chronic illness or {insert your current struggle here}. Choose your hard and go all in!
Like many of the other commenters here, I'm in a similar situation, I know that I'M my biggest challenge. About 3 years ago I jumped on the intermittent fasting bandwagon, I started out slow then went to basically eating one meal a day, I am also a night owl, and that's when I tended to eat, preferring not to eat during the day, so I made that work for me, I didn't eat anything during the day, eating basically one meal in the evening, and that has worked out wonderfully for me, I lost quite a bit of weight, I got so much healthier. I thoroughly enjoy my life, I know that my happiness fall squarely between my two ears, my hubby and I have been living off grid since December of '07, and love every minute of it. I found you because of your water kefir videos, I've been doing water kefir for a couple of months now and love it, I'm also getting more into fermented foods, so what you're doing and sharing is perfect for me. I hope you can find the thing or the plan that works best for you, I know that not everything works for everybody, fasting works for me because I like to eat I know that sounds counterintuitive, but it works for me. God bless you. And thank you for sharing everything you do with us. ❤️❤️❤️
I. Totally agree…I was faithful for 2 years …. NEVER cheated… lost my weight… felt so good… but Keto is so hard to eat out, munch ( which is my problem)… I got off it… gained most of my weight back..& am so disappointed in myself!!! It seems to me all the channels I watched always has to go back and restart… it’s an amazing diet for your health… but extremely difficult… I agree I need my mind to get on board!!!
It took me a year to get my mind right to quit smoking. When I was ready, I stopped cold turkey after 25 years of smoking and have not had one since. The mind is a powerful tool. I'm still working on my weight.
We started following Dr.Sten Ecberg, hubs have lost 120 pounds, and I have lost 45. We eliminated ALL processed food, oils, junk, and grains. All organic, meat, and vegetables and have for the last year. We also do intermittent fasting. It has been a year now and we have made it our lifestyle. We do go out to eat and enjoy that meal but it is rarely we do this. I am 68 and have gone back to scratch cooking. It is working for us. Good luck on the journey!
I just started back with the app “My Fitness Pal” it’s the only thing I have found that helps me stay on goal. If you have to write it down you think about every bite. Also it gives you the calories and nutrients so you can lean toward healthier choices.
Hey Anna! I watch you all the time and I never comment. However today, you look extremely gorgeous! Just wanted to let you know how stunning you look. Nothing weird just giving a compliment.
You're right, I can remember feeling better after I had lost a lot of weight in 2017 before I got pregnant. Now I am much bigger and I do struggle with some things. Things like breathing normal, or catching my breath, or even getting dressed. I totally understand what you mean. - Renee
I definitely appreciate the inspiration to start making some of the changes I need to. I hope you'll continue to share. I would love to have someone homestead-minded to follow on a health journey. I need all the meal inspiration I can get. I wish I could do moderation, but I'm like you. I think I'm going to have to go all or nothing.
Thank you for sharing some of your story. I think we all have health problems and it's nice to have somebody to listen sometimes when we fell overwhelmed with it all. For me it's my liver kidney's and diabetes and Ibs .
I came over from your kimchi video coz I love fermented pickles. I am so intrigued by the cucumber recipe that I just had to ignore other waiting channels videos and chase your pickles down 😊thank you so much.
Thanks for sharing your heart with us, you are quite an inspiration, we enjoy following along your journey as you restore your gut. You are doing so awesome all those ferments and sourdough you are amazing. Remember slow and steady wins the race. Christmas Blessings
I just found your channel recently and it is now one of my favorites. I found this video today while exploring your channel and it resonates so much. I have been battling health and weight issues for too long. I'm all about the baby's steps, but I realize that I also need to commit more fully and step up my game. I especially love that you shared the quote about what I want most vs now. I need that reminder.
Weight loss starts in your head and so does keeping it off. Only “safe” foods in the house is one of my rules. Anything tough to stop munching I’d do when eating away from home and split dessert with someone. Key is learning your weakness and make a plan how to manage those can’t stop eating foods. After a while you’ll stop craving them. You’ll get back to your best weight. Find your set weight changes to the new thinner you the longer you can stay down. I go more by how I feel and how clothes fit than scale. Never give up on you you’re realizing all the keys. I’m now down for over 20 years without the yo-yo weight. Jess is a sweetheart!
Hi Anna, recipe sounds good, love your inspiration, and I struggle daily, I have lost one whole person though at 150 lb weight loss so far. My stomach very messed up also, trying ferments and kombucha and water kefir, would love to try milk kefir, but have no access to raw milk. we got this, inspiration from you is great.
Wow! What an amazing accomplishment! You’re doing amazing! Ferments will help your gut so much! You can make milk kefir with regular milk too, I just have access to raw so I prefer it
I really liked your chat throughout this I think a lot more of us are struggling with the same issues and not really knowing how to express them. Also, I cannot wait to make cucumber kimchi.
Oh so excited to have your video this early. That cucumber kimchi looks really good. I’m gonna try this. I too need to get my mind right. I lost over 150 pounds at one point gained back 60 and am so disappointed in myself. I’ve been practicing being kind to myself and not being the so add high strung type a personality that I am. Also one tip I learned to keep my mind from getting down is to not compare where we are now to our healthy selves. We are supposed to compare ourselves to yesterday and celebrate even the smallest change. So for example I gained back 3 of the recent 15 pounds I had lost. I got super down on myself. But then I changed my thought process. And looked for a positive. The positive is I can go 7 mins on the elliptical now without pausing a second to catch my breath. Several weeks ago I was breathless a minute and a half in. Our brains are wired to be negative. We gotta train it to be positive. Look always for the positive. And sometimes that can be hard but when the negative thoughts creep in we gotta be aware and change it. Overtime it does help some.
@@FermentedHomestead you are a strong woman. You definitely can do this dear. If you ever need encouragement please feel free to reach out. And on days you have no motivation think of your why. Bring your why to the forefront and push on. And listen to your body. If you need to rest rest and don’t feel guilty. I’m still working on that last part. Much love dear.
This is really great advice, (only comparing ourselves to yesterday and celebrating even the smallest win). This breaks the goal down into bite sized pieces and provides continuous self encouragement and perspective. ❤❤
I am on the same boat. I have been struggling myself but I am the “problem”. This chat really hit me and makes total sense. I just need to be on the right mind set and I need a lot of will power. Thank you for sharing this with us and of course the kimchi recipe. My oldest daughter loves kimchi. Great chat Ms Anna…we got this, we got this.
You are so right you can read the same statement or “or Bible verse whatever several times and not really pick anything up out of it but it’s like when your mindset is ready to hear it it will sometimes smack you upside the head like you were a misbehaving stepchildlike it was written just to tell you this at this moment
I’m always amazed at how we end up being where we need to be. One of my Moms favorite things to say was, “God works in mysterious way my darling,,,,You’re right where you’re supposed to be.” I’ve been on a mission for my health as well. Everything you are saying is very much like how I feel. Thank you for sharing.
I COMPLETELY understand where you're coming from, Anna. I am currently a year and a half into eating anti-inflammatory for pain management. Almost every month I am discovering a food that doesn't agree with me - causes digestive issues or pain flare up or both. It is definitely a lifelong journey to create new eating habits. The willpower to resist foods has certainly been my biggest accomplishment and that has just come with time. I know you will get to a place that is best for you in due time. Sending you virtual courage from Canada 🇨🇦🤍❤️🤍
I appreciate you sharing! I've gained and lost the same weight multiple times, and am at my highest weight yet - where it really is hard to put boots on, or anything!! I'll check out Keto Rewind (I have experience w keto but need to get back to it), and will keep following your journey. It's hard, but we got this!! ❤️
I just made a batch of kimchi yesterday that was a bit more heat than I desired. I will eat it in small doses and use less gochugaru in the next batch.🤣 You're doing great! Looking forward to cheering you on your journey! Keep it up!
Two things, you are a brave person for putting your heart and soul out there for everyone to see. I have been fluffy my whole life and have struggled with weight loss and feeling good. One day at a time is all you can do. I like turning the goal into a plan. It gives you something to do. Also, how did the cucumber kimchi turn out. Or which video do I need to watch to find it? What does the rice flour do for it? I haven’t seen that in a recipe before. Thanks and Big Hugs
I'm in the EXACT SAME BOAT! This is exactly what I've been doing. And, like you, I've known that I have to put my mindset right in order to get back to where I was-weight and health-wise. Good luck to you!
You are an inspiration. I stumbled on your channel looking for advice for my own medical and mental health issues. I used to take a lot of prescribed medication but since the debacle with the COVID 19 vaccines I have decided to not take them anymore. The meds made me pile on weight and as an ex nurse not being able to be as physically fit any more has had a major effect on my mental health. I'm feeling a lot better but struggle still. Watching how you manage your own issues makes me feel not so isolated. Thank you Anna for being brave enough to show your own struggles and vulnerability. Good luck with everything ❤
This is one of my favorite kinds of kimchi! I think it's called oi subaji. I haven't had it in so long. You are right about using the mild cayenne. Gochugaru is mild heatwise with a tiny bit of sweetness. Thank you Oh, this isn't oi subaji. With that, the carrots etc are stuffed into the cukes. You almost quarter the cuke pieces but don't cut all the way through and then you stuff it. I can't remember what this one is called but it's also still very good
The mind is very important as YAH says Philippians 4:8 “Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by YAH’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart].”
Boy. I was sitting here eating a pint of Moose Track Ice Cream and you made me feel so guillty knowing I need to lose some weight also. I am finishing the ice cream so it will be out of here for good. Thanks Anna. I needed this.
Oh girly, I have the same problem with getting my mind back on track. The holidays were a train wreck for me. On the good side, I have taught myself to eat organ meats and it's helped a lot in some areas. I just haven't gotten back on track with IF. I haven't had any luck getting a ferment like sauerkraut going. Kinda discouraging since it's supposed to be the easiest thing ever to ferment. Oh well, keep on truckin I guess.
I do great all day then carb out just before bed. Probably need more fat for calories and satiety. Don't kick yourself, i's a learning journey, and that's what makes it interesting, because we're learning about us.
Hi! I’m new to fermenting and found your channel and have been binge watching you! Came across this video this morning! How fun to hear you mention Keto Rewind as she was one of the first keto channels I started following. She has had quite the journey. I have really enjoyed her mind set videos and hearing how they’ve resonated with you. I hope 2023 brings you closer to your goals! I, too, am a late night muncher. Abstaining works better than moderation for me, but the husband doesn’t binge on peanut butter like I do, so it’s a problem. Like you mentioned, having a stash of healthier alternatives at the ready can curtail or stop the binge. Hard boiled eggs are my weapon of choice! How did that kimchi turn out?! I love kimchi!! ❤ 🥬 🌶
It’s top of my list for sure!!! Hubby hides the peanut butter for me 😂 I love Jess because she persevered so much! She fell off and showed it all and what she’s doing to get it back which is right where I am!
I've lived all over the place and learned that Asian markets often hide in plain sight. You think you know your town and you know you don't have an Asian market nearby till you meet an Asian and they show you the market you were always passing by. 😂 I lived in Kansas City, Missouri and found an Asian market in a strip shopping center I knew very well, but, the Asian market was in the back where the 18 wheelers unload for the stores so of course I didn't know of it's existence till somebody showed me. Google Asian market near you before you assume your town doesn't have one because chances are high it's indeed there.
Can you post the link to the other site/channel you watched. (NEVERMIND…I just saw it) My mindset rd gut health/at loss isn’t there. I have had a hard few years and gained a lot of wt with chemo and then being home bound due to a car accident. I’m ready… eating raw spinach is my favorite… but I hurt in my gut so much afterward I am tossing that spinach!
You can do it! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 and give it all to HIM. That's the only way I get through my day. In constant pray with HIM. HE made you. He knows. Because of you I have been doing carnivore mostly kind of ketovore and I feel great and have lost weight! I also do short workouts which have been amazing. I'll link her under this comment. 💜
So true. I’m so happy to hear your progress and feeling so well!!! I think because it’s a link it won’t show your comment, what’s her name and I can look it up
Wait… I have been fasting. Eating 1 meal a day…. And it may not work? Geesh! (I don’t have scales so I do t know if I’ve list or not. Only been 14 days…. And I’m older). But.. gut health is my first goal
Cucumber kimchi is best when you eat at right after it's made. Not really meant for fermentation. It should usually be eaten within a week of making it before it becomes sour and undesirable.
Great questions! When it reaches the level of sour I like I take the weight out and put a regular lid on and then pop it in the fridge. No hard I’m leaving the weight in if you know it will be a bit before you get to it but certainly not needed
You must ween yourself off grains/carbs. Its a battle that i struggle with... rice for me was something that was my demon... i only have it on special occasions... and only in moderation... 1/2 c...
Hey Anna, I am new to your channel in about the past month or so. I do not know your back story and I'm not asking for a full recap. I am a big boy from the age 35 to 59 now. 6'4" 425lbs now them is the real facts if I'm lyin I'm dyin. I have lost weight many times. My challenge is 9 major orthopedic surgeries and long recoveries, Here is the Good News Every surgery was 100% successful because My God is good all the time and All the time my God is good Amen!!, I have spoken with nutritionists and those type folks and made a thousand changes in What I buy, why am I buying it, how am I going to fix it, How much do I serve what goes with it all these thoughts. The whole thing comes down to a concept called Mindful eating, Mindfulness or just paying attention. Ask yourself questions am I hungry right now? Answer NO then Why are you in the refrigerator lettin all the cold air out? Is this the best way to cook this meal? Fried, baked or air fried cooked on the grilled all these things make a difference so pay attention. Be intentional in what you buy and buy the healthiest choices you can make. Now I now good natural food costs some more money than cheap no nutrition box and canned foods do. The whole idea is to think about what you are doing in all aspects of eating and make the most best choices and you will see differences. Do not let a few bad choices outweigh many many good choices. It is a long game on a long road so do look to far ahead just stay focused where you are and do your best. I really like your channel. Peace and blessings to you and yours Cya next time

You must be committed 100% to getting healthier... i was determined to get off my Blood Pressure Meds and the end of April 2023, no more neds😅
Great information
I COMPLETELY understand where you're coming from, Anna. I am currently a year and a half into eating anti-inflammatory for pain management. Almost every month I am discovering a food that doesn't agree with me - causes digestive issues or pain flare up or both. It is definitely a lifelong journey to create new eating habits. The willpower to resist foods has certainly been my biggest accomplishment and that has just come with time. I know you will get to a place that is best for you in due time. Sending you virtual courage from Canada 🇨🇦🤍❤️🤍
Awesome talk and attitude! 🥰
I love kimchi! Especially cucumber. My step-grandma was Korean. Love all things Korean because of her. Miss her lots. Thanks for this video, Anna!
Sometimes I’m surprised all the things that can be done with cukes!
@@FermentedHomestead My son fried them up like yellow squash. He saw it online. It was awful to me. He liked it.
A mandolin, would make your veggie match sticks for your carrots, asian radish 😋
I just made a batch of kimchi yesterday that was a bit more heat than I desired. I will eat it in small doses and use less gochugaru in the next batch.🤣
You're doing great! Looking forward to cheering you on your journey! Keep it up!
At least you have some concentrated flavor for your dishes! I want to make some real kimchi.
Great video. Anna, this hit me in all of the feels. What are you doing to me?!? I came here for kimchi and got a kick in the pants as a bonus😉
Can’t wait to try this recipe.😊🙌🏻
Two things, you are a brave person for putting your heart and soul out there for everyone to see. I have been fluffy my whole life and have struggled with weight loss and feeling good. One day at a time is all you can do. I like turning the goal into a plan. It gives you something to do.
Also, how did the cucumber kimchi turn out. Or which video do I need to watch to find it? What does the rice flour do for it? I haven’t seen that in a recipe before. Thanks and Big Hugs
i can relate--up down up--i sooo want down!!
We can do it! We just gotta keep trYing
Everyone has challenges, korean chili pepper flakes, kimchi is great, you can improvise, adapt and overcome...
I'm in the EXACT SAME BOAT! This is exactly what I've been doing. And, like you, I've known that I have to put my mindset right in order to get back to where I was-weight and health-wise. Good luck to you!
You can do it!
🥰 I’m so glad you’re finding your way to better health with me! We are definitely not alone in this
So, my first tip is.....stay away from your sister's video on cinnamon rolls! She's killin' me.
Too late! They did look so yummy! I have a nice keto/carnivore snack coming tomorrow for that collab
Fat head dough and an alternative sweetener makes a bomb cinnamon roll without all the inflammation.
This is one of my favorite kinds of kimchi! I think it's called oi subaji. I haven't had it in so long. You are right about using the mild cayenne. Gochugaru is mild heatwise with a tiny bit of sweetness. Thank you
Oh, this isn't oi subaji. With that, the carrots etc are stuffed into the cukes. You almost quarter the cuke pieces but don't cut all the way through and then you stuff it. I can't remember what this one is called but it's also still very good
Sounds super interesting!
Happy to help!
I know exactly what you're saying ❤
I do great all day then carb out just before bed. Probably need more fat for calories and satiety. Don't kick yourself, i's a learning journey, and that's what makes it interesting, because we're learning about us.
Same! Absolutely same! I’ve been doing well the past several days. It helps me a lot to not stay up late then I don’t get the hankerings
I use those lids for my wine. I do use a cloth on top because tiny fruit flies can get in the top.
That was Roberts experience in the summer too, its thankfully not an issue this time of year
Hi Anna 👋
Kimchi!!!🎉
I am doing also low sodium diet, and measuring my portions...
You must find your inner strength and celebrate your successes
I've lived all over the place and learned that Asian markets often hide in plain sight. You think you know your town and you know you don't have an Asian market nearby till you meet an Asian and they show you the market you were always passing by. 😂 I lived in Kansas City, Missouri and found an Asian market in a strip shopping center I knew very well, but, the Asian market was in the back where the 18 wheelers unload for the stores so of course I didn't know of it's existence till somebody showed me. Google Asian market near you before you assume your town doesn't have one because chances are high it's indeed there.
Oh no, it really doesn’t have one 😂 I did but the closest one is over an hour away
Hi Anna , fasting/intermittent fasting good for losing weight , And possibly looking at moving to a veggie diet , or try a ferment only diet

I've done calorie shifting. I was 212 pounds and I am 5'2". Took me many years but I'm at 125 now and I eat whatever I want. Worth a try right?
💖💖💖
Wait… I have been fasting. Eating 1 meal a day…. And it may not work? Geesh! (I don’t have scales so I do t know if I’ve list or not. Only been 14 days…. And I’m older). But.. gut health is my first goal
Cucumber kimchi is best when you eat at right after it's made. Not really meant for fermentation. It should usually be eaten within a week of making it before it becomes sour and undesirable.
The pickled kind yes, if it’s not pickled or fermented then it’s just a cucumber salad…not kimchi
What is Cbo
When the kimchi ferment is finished, do we removed the glass weight & pickle piper? Or do we leave these things forever?
Great questions! When it reaches the level of sour I like I take the weight out and put a regular lid on and then pop it in the fridge. No hard I’m leaving the weight in if you know it will be a bit before you get to it but certainly not needed
You must ween yourself off grains/carbs. Its a battle that i struggle with... rice for me was something that was my demon... i only have it on special occasions... and only in moderation... 1/2 c...
dont you want the gas to stay inside tho ?
No, it will build up pressure so releasing it is ideal
Do you sell this?
I sure do, Ava farmers market most Saturday’s from 8-noon and some local events
@@FermentedHomestead do you ship?
@@suelewis9133 I can within the state of missouri but not beyond that
Hey Anna, I am new to your channel in about the past month or so.
Peace and blessings to you and yours Cya next time
Is this story time or are you going to make kimchi lol. Telling your story it’s slowing you down and making this video extra long
I know, it was intended to be a vlog but it turned into that. Sorry for the extra but I haven’t been able to refilm it
She talks too much.
Well to be fair “chat” is in the title and thumbnail so….
