no one wants or probably knows how to build vert ramps.in my town theres a decent little half pipe and theres a big park built by spohn ranch and everyone wants to skate the same little rail.probably because its over run with 20 yr old hipsters on scooters.usually about 30 or more.those are for tweens or when nobodys looking.they look dumb riding em how they have both hands below there stomache and feet together in a semi squat position.looks like theyre pushing out a turd.bunch of TURD PUSHERS crowding the skateboard park.theres also a newly built awesome dirt jump track with all skill levels.no one goes there anymore.the city built it. they want to crowd the skatepark because it has little rails.no one wants to do the big stuff.go small and stay home is the Thrasher attitude of newark ohio.bunch of turd pushers sayin shit like STOKED and SICK.lol
I heard that was so rad that even Stephen Hawking busted out some killer vert tricks too. Damn...some of those skaters havent been seen in years. Brought back some memories. I still miss Savannah Slammin.
What I love about the tricks they do was so much was in the name of style. I get bored watching vert contests today. Every run is about the number of rotations a ala Sean White (biggest bore on vert). This contest brought it all back, the handplants, slides, boneless, etc. Just watch Hawks run. Half those tricks wouldn't make the scoreboard today but damn they look way cooler.
those who gave a thumbs down on this video, don't know what they're looking at! The 80's made History in skateboarding. It was the peak focal point of when skateboarding was Huge, being reinvented with new innovative tricks, which is why the sport became so popular!
These were my childhood hero's. My brother and I used to have an 8' halfpipe in the backyard that Mark Lake and Lonnie Reiter used to come and skate. Our house was 30 yards from the beach so we'd have 20 surfboards, 20 bikes, and 20 skateboards littering the yard in 1984. When we'd get skated or surfed out we'd all pile in the family room and either watch the original Bones Brigade or the Quiksilver's Performers movie. My parents we're very cool to allow this to be board central.
Love all these guys! Hosoi with the most beautiful power and style, and hawk with such a variety of tricks! Really miss the skate scene of the late 80’s!
This was an amazing event to be a part of. I have a lot of Super sick video and pictures on my Facebook page from this. It was awesome being up on the deck for all of it.
I feel so very fortunate to have just been a little kid in the 70s when Stacy Peralta was shredding with the Z-Boys then a teenager in the 80s worshiping the Bones Brigade and Animal Chin. Stuck on the South Side of Chicago so no skating or BMX Freestyling for like 6 months outta the year. We lived and died with the magazines and the VHS tapes via mail order. Really loved seeing Hosoi, McGill, Steadham, and of course the Birdman. Could never repay you all for the wonderful childhood of removing skin and breaking bones the hard way. Wishing you all Peace, Health, and Prosperity.
Im 15 and i've skated for about 5 or 6 years and im so hyped off this sort of stuff, i think this sort of skating is so much better than what is mainstream today. Ramp For Life!
Grew up watching these dudes. Come on man, it's about the people you remember when you see em, and also the obvious.. Was rad to see Frazier and Hosoi ... Rocket on a 9ft transition?... McGill McTwist ??! .. Hawk with the rad pants.. just so rad.
The Best event ever, I wish i were in america to go there. I hope you make another all 80's all Day again that i will fly there to see it live! Awesome. Thanks to the person that came with that ideia inside of quicksilver. Awesome!!!!!
+Mihály Spenger yeah guys no need to bash skating street or vert. I️ like both styles however I️ think transition and vert is more fun for me personally. I️ just wish the Midwest had a vert ramp. There are a couple of good bowls but that’s it. The closets vert ramp if your from Chicago is in Florence Kentucky I️ believe. So most people skate street around here. Flip tricks require a lot of muscle memory and skill. I️ can respect that. Vert is fast and acrobatic. Both gnar as fuck at high level. Relax. drink a beer. and skate. In that order !!
Could watch u for hours, Tony Hawk and Bucky Lasek thanks for visiting Adelaide in 1990, some bumpy concrete surface skate park bowls and you guys still did alright tho
PLEASE, PLEASE bring this even back to Orlando, FL. Advertise it here, on ESPN, social media and I bet the place would be SOLD OUT! Turning people away at the door! This is awesome and here in Orlando there's STILL alot of old school skaters now turn professionals that still love to skate.
26 back on board here after 5 year break because injury and other problems, felt old because most of the guys are the park are kids. Only a few never quit. Go back!!!
Awsome guys thank you for the memories! it's great to see all you guys still ripping it up!! Hey Steve Steadham bring some of your friends when you come to the island!!Peace!
So EPIC!! Mike Frazier still so awesome in 2019, Andy Mac helmet smack si good, Hosoi still has style for days, ...everyone ripped in the 80s!!! Love it, need more events like this!!...80s skate sesh at Combi would've rad!!
Yeah !!! Amazing video ... Is awesome can see this guys, ... They are Heroes and Legends skateboarding 80´s. Congratulatios all them. Skateboarding 4 Ever !!! Always
I skated vert, quarter, launch ramps, and some street as a kid in the 80s. I never got super good at it but I can tell you that half pipe skating is a high of weightlessness that the other stuff doesn't cut. I liked to surf as well and feels like floating on a cloud, great life. Vert should come back with these modern skaters today, they got the street tricks so they would bring a new style to vert. I had a Tony Hawk board like the one Tony skated here, just different color.
how good is this! - all the legends. I salute you all. You have all inspired me to get better at vert. I can't believe i'm gonna get to meet christian hosoi in sweden in 3 weeks time :o)
Good lord. Talk about bringing back some old names that I had forgotten all about. Henry Guittirez (sp, sorry), always liked his deck. Buck Smith and Jeff Hedges! Wow. The eggplant kid from Chin!!! Very fun. I can't believe Hosoi STILL has those shorts! (just watched the Vision contest where Jeff Phillips won)
man that brings back memories.. i remember when i was like 4 going to my dads work in santa barbara which was right next door to a powell peralta shop that built skateboards and they had a halfpipe in the back and i used to watch guys skate it all day long...
This is so cool - restarted skating a bit last year after 20 yrs pause and it's hard (just sitting in front of the computer with 2 broken ribs and torn meniscus) but will definitely continue... However, I wonder: Why is this looking so stylish? Is it because the wheels are softer and the boards somehow slower, heavier or what?! I almost have the feeling the guys are even longer in the air if you compare it to todays x-games shows or so... Or is it just magic or only in my head... Anyway - very cool...
I know this video is old but so am I but it sure made me feel young cuz those Guys we're heroes.
Same! Would be cool to do it again eh...?
Tony has been kicking there ass for 30 years... all the old guys looked good and thats cool.
Hosoi looks just as good as he did back in the day. I love this, all the guys who invented vert, gives me chills.
I'm just so bored with street skating, please vert make a comeback!
I like both. it's just that there are more tricks to do when street skating so in skateboard video games I tend to street skate a little more often
xgames bro, still got vert contest
be the change bro

@@wnerko7484 lmao! From now on I'll be calling all of them TURD PUSHERS !!! ./.
Christian Hosoi still has that awesome style. Rides the entire ramp from left to right.
Hosoi flying with the hammerhead/rocket wheel setup !!! Huge rocket air love it !! Wish he would have pulled out the Christ air !!
This is so inspirational, I'm 34 and feeling old, not anymore. It's time to get back on the board!
I heard that was so rad that even Stephen Hawking busted out some killer vert tricks too. Damn...some of those skaters havent been seen in years. Brought back some memories. I still miss Savannah Slammin.

Hosoi still skates like he did back in the day. Big Air!
Best who ever lived.
aside from tony hawk
@@roostercockburn4388 Skateboarding would be nothing if it wasn't for Hosoi!!!! Remember that.
That method, all style
This just came up in my recommended, wow, brings back some amazing memories the 80's do.
I love it, I'm only 15, but I skate pools dominantly and also love some halftime action. Long live oldschool!
Love all these guys! Hosoi with the most beautiful power and style, and hawk with such a variety of tricks! Really miss the skate scene of the late 80’s!
They really need to bring back another competition like this again with all the old legends! Could watch this forever!
Tony, McGill, the bones brigades! Awesome! Wow love this!
This was an amazing event to be a part of. I have a lot of Super sick video and pictures on my Facebook page from this. It was awesome being up on the deck for all of it.

I've been reppin' Quiksilver ever since. I love this group of skaters. My childhood heroes. Good times. Amazing.
Hasoi is just a character. So glad he's back and doing well.
Grew up watching these dudes. Come on man, it's about the people you remember when you see em, and also the obvious.. Was rad to see Frazier and Hosoi ... Rocket on a 9ft transition?... McGill McTwist ??! .. Hawk with the rad pants.. just so rad.
I MUST KEEP VERT SKATING ALIVE!!!
💯
Hosoi , the most beatiful style ever !
Yeah, Christian and Steve Steadham signed my board at Little Rock in '85...I still have it! This video made my day.
The Best event ever, I wish i were in america to go there. I hope you make another all 80's all Day again that i will fly there to see it live! Awesome. Thanks to the person that came with that ideia inside of quicksilver. Awesome!!!!!
nice,im 52 now,I still have my board but not my balance . McGill still kills it
Super stoked to see that. Thanks for doing it , filming it, posting, riding it. Brings back LOTS of memories....
it makes my heart warm seeing all these guys do this again
especially Hosoi, it's great to see him still shred after everything that happened
I'm 43 and still skating vert, wtf is street skating ? Long live pools and pipe's !!!!!!
fuck yea
street skating is when you skate to the store for beer and then go home and drink it, pretty much
DaveCrawlerDave street skating is a lot more popular than pools/vert right now... just because you don't know about it doesn't mean it's bad
+Mihály Spenger yeah guys no need to bash skating street or vert. I️ like both styles however I️ think transition and vert is more fun for me personally. I️ just wish the Midwest had a vert ramp. Could watch u for hours, Tony Hawk and Bucky Lasek thanks for visiting Adelaide in 1990, some bumpy concrete surface skate park bowls and you guys still did alright tho
this gave me a really good feeling inside :)

Andys board switch and Mikes McEgg was the most epic tricks in this video!
Good lord. Talk about bringing back some old names that I had forgotten all about. Henry Guittirez (sp, sorry), always liked his deck. Buck Smith and Jeff Hedges! Wow. The eggplant kid from Chin!!! Steve steadham nice!! Lol rob with the wig, hilarious. Watching Hosoi in action wow priceless!!!!
Tony should of kept the pink Protec helmet on. Wonder why he switched?
My first board, steve steadham. Legends
This is so cool - restarted skating a bit last year after 20 yrs pause and it's hard (just sitting in front of the computer with 2 broken ribs and torn meniscus) but will definitely continue...

Yes, i noticed the same. Some guys have so much style and they seem to float in the air.
+Lazelwood I had the same impression, specialy when Hosoi flew. Damn
