I can’t even tell you how much it means to me that you not only saw this, but to know that it is meaningful to you. It was my absolute pleasure. Gary is a terrific person and I am richer for knowing him.
Great video David! It was my pleasure to give you the experience of driving your first VW bus. Looking forward to seeing you around the shows in 2025 and beyond. Please keep posting your wonderfully entertaining and informative videos.
That was cool! thanks for sharing another Vw enthusiast, Gary is really enjoying his Split bus. He's doing a great job putting it together and loving at the same time! 👍
Great video 😊 I drove my '67 bus for over twenty years. When I sold it my daughter cried - so I found and restored a '58 bus. Subscribed to your channel 👍
Glad gary got it's driving I've got to get my bus done wait on a 944 front caliper then should be ready for show season gary one of the most honest and great bros I've met since I moved here from Socal 4yrs ago I definitely love our vdub community here in the ozarks😊
There's nothing like driving a split window bus. Even a baywindow is a unique experience! If you're ever passing through OK and want to drive another let me know!
Cool bus! I think the color is "Turkis"? I just picked up one just like it, but its got a smaller rear window (maybe its a '61 or '62?, gotta look at the title). He was asking a hundred bucks for it, so hard to turn it up. Put an air filter on that bus, dude, save the motor! ✌️ 🚌
This was a great story to hear as I'm a Springfieldian! Its nice to Know that this beauty came from Steve at ROY ROGERS (our old VW parts place ). I'm sad he is gone now. I hope to see this beauty while cruising around in my 71 bay 7 passenger deluxe bus. or my 66 sea blue beetle! Thanks for the story!
@@fromthebeginningofvankind28 thats the way to buy them. My NIagara Blue had the original paint, Santa Cruz to Portland to Chicago - Gary IN to my house...June of 71 and it's a joy to work on. The lady who sold it to me, had grandkids and they make little FEET in the faded paint from their skin oils or suntan lotion ?? I did not know about sierra yellow, but that's a neat color. I want a blue one since 1986.
Great video! Awesome bus! Are you able to provide more information on the rubber wheel used to remove the stickers? Thinking that may be a good tool to help remove the old glue from my firewall tar board I removed.
If you Google "rubber eraser wheel" several choices will come up. You can also likely find them at your local auto supply store. As you can see they chuck up in a drill. I can't speak to using them to remove old glue, but they work great on old decals and stuff like that.
Thanks for sharing! Happy New Year !
Glad you enjoyed it. Happy New Year to you!
Love that you captured my dad's voice and his story. This is special.

It really is a completely unique experience, yet with that familiar drivetrain. It’s hard to explain.
