Generally the reason not to splash extra colours is manabase considerations. If you have an untapped green source, it doesn't cast your blue spells, and the meta is so fast these days that taplands are a liability
Agreed that Pauper feels stale. I wish that some cards were printed that would make more fringe archetypes playable? Nevertheless, gonna support the channel no matter what you play!
Like remember when peeps like Caleb Gannon were making even ZUBERA’s playable, both in storm and in his spirit tribal deck etc... I’ve always enjoyed pauper because it felt like the OG magic, which was powerful spells, terrible creatures. Also just felt like there was more opportunity to brew something fringe and at-least have it be somewhat competitive even if it isn’t T1. Of course, always appreciated your storm/tron brews etc…Maybe I’m just out of the loop but that’s how it feels to me, as someone who used to go through all the “ancient” sets to find some obscure common which slapped.
Was there ever any consideration to play pauper and just exclude all the sets that don't go to standard? The horizon sets certainly had a massive impact on the power level of the format.
It's nice to brew in some different cards sometimes. But I think Pauper is in a broken spot that kinda pushes away brews from being viable. Unfortunately the broken cards and lists always gonna be so much better. I'd like to see a nice and strong different decks with Delver, Skyfisher, Mulldrifter, and even some "recent".
@@irishmarine3 I don't think I have a plan to use my channel to break into other formats right now. Maybe it is possible. I enjoy playing legacy from time to time.
@@infinitesque pro: you randomly go off and get easy mode. Con: you have 3 cards that aren't that high of value unless you're looking to combo so you have to make 3 cuts I think it's trading power for consistency basically. The combo win is high power but losing some consistency
There's a guy at my lgs who plays that list every week. I think he goes 3-0 almost every week too. It's great against aggro because he ramps, plays big creatures, and he can side in 4 weather the storm and a couple breath weapons. It's good against control because he can draw alot of cards, plays alot of disruption with discard and land destruction, and he plays alot of removal while also playing some recursion too. The only thing I've yet to see the deck match up against is a combo deck but the only combo deck I have is cycle storm which needs the graveyard and he plays nihil spellbomb, not to mention my version doesn't run basics so I really don't know how the matchup will go.
@kalikaiz awhhh to each their own!! I love legacy been playing for years. But it's been the most unfun for me that it's been in like 10 years 😭 because the meta rn is 🤢 control decks don't even exist
Hear me out...what about a green splash for exploration/Sakura tribe elder? The acceleration would be awesome, and familiar discounts them
You could also run weather the storm if you wanted. Also, what about mystical teachings toolbox?? Soo many interesting ways to play this.

I do agree. The bar now for even remotely playable is so insanely high!

Looking forward to the b&r. Format could use some shake ups

Why do you think are the pros and cons of the "oops I win" button of this version of familiars in comparison to other versions?

The deck is very strong but God what a slog
Brother, do you ever play pioneer. I swear a lot of those decks are the same price or cheaper than pauper decks on mtgo. Pauper feels unfun rn
@@huntermarquez2357 I really really dislike pioneer tbh. My favorite non pauper is probably legacy

@huntermarquez2357 oh not that I would play legacy either, it's just the format I think is the coolest and fairest of the non pauper
