  • This bike has probably not run for at least 7 years, maybe more. Who knows?
    Dedicated to Trevor, who moaned that he got his whole family together to watch the reincarnation of a nice bike and only got a photo to look at, well Trev, here you go.

    Ive just bought an 86 gpz600r thats been sat outside in my uncles garden for 5 years. Its in fantastic shape doesn't need as much work as i was expecting. We tried firing it but fuel isn't getting through the carbs but it ran on a starting fluid for long enough to know it lives. It also has a aftermarket twin round headlight fairing which i actually really love. Im looking forward to bringing it back to its former glory

      Yours is the green white blue one currently in the paint shop ? Welcome to the group ;-) The idle jets in the carbs will be blocked. You will need to take the carbs off to get to them, pop them off, give the carbs a clean and clear out those jets, then she'll run under her own steam ..

      @MrLefthooker that's indeed the one yes. It's not in the paint shop I just was to get some paint matched for the rear cowl and left hand side panel. I'll try to change keep it as much as possible like it is in the hopes that a previous owner somewhere will recognise it. I'd love them to know its survived. It was clearly loved everything was polished at some time so someone somewhere really did love it. And yes I'll be whipping the cards off possibly tomorrow then rebuild the brakes and service it. I've got to put my mx bike back together tonight so if I get finished then hopefully I can give the gpz the love it deserves. Thank you for your reply and hope everything is going good for you and your family on your side :)

    wow, okay seeing the pressure of the fuel really helped me understand how those carbs are cooperating and how one can effect the others! i understood it, possibly by a whim, but trial and error, as long as you mark recordings or have a good memory, can get you pretty close to perfect. how if only i can get on my bike and get the feel for what those adjustments are!

    How many turns for the mixscrew? And how do you reach it for it adjustment? Sorry for my bad english but i cannot reach the fuel mixture screws easilly and i don´t know how to do it? Can you do a video for that?

    • @MrLefthooker
      @MrLefthooker  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, do you mean the mixture screws under the carburettor? They must be set to 2 turns out. This means, you turn the screw all the way in, and then turn it out 2 turns. It is easier to do this when the carburetor is out of the frame, but, there are tools to reach the screws when the carburetor is still fitted. But they are expensive too. I will think about making a video to show the mixture screws.

      No you can't. It is essential for the complete ignition process. If you remove it, the system can not operate.
