I refuse to call Jamie a moron as I have faceplanted off my bike on that towpath while cycling home trying to open a packet of Percy pigs. I feel his pain
I love what you are doing Fergus. It's immensely inspiring - love the idea of wintering. I did a humble version of something like that the last year and it got me so much ahead in front of my old self from the year before. In fact - I just had the best year of my sports this year and it all started by not allowing myself to slack off around Christmas. I signed up for series of competitions this winter again to stay on top of it. Love to see guys like you who are a lot more advanced than me trying to keep up the good work throughout the winter gloom!
I have been running my age on the weekend closest to my birthday for over a decade now. In a few weeks time I turn 36. Videos like this help me as a struggle with motivation to get out of bed early enough to get my 4 hour runs in before the sun rises. With three kids in house I have to get my run wrapped up before the kids get up.
I've been seriously neglecting my cardio training in favor of bodybuilding and strength gains (with great success) but just watching one of your intros makes me wanna hop on my bike and go for an hour or 2 in the freezing cold. This training style is just so much fun
That's a great idea mate, the beauty of the bike is that I find it usually doesn't hinder my strength training nearly as much as long runs. Of course, you can do whatever cardio you want and still have good strength sessions as Fergus proves, but a leg day always feels better without the joint-stress of a run.
Fergus, I’m watching your Celtman prep again atm as am just getting into Ironman training. The improvement in your vids is real, much more cinematic and relaxed now! Keep it going, love the vids for us getting into it
I programmed hotkeys on my Garmin watch to quickly lil the buttons. If you're in the screen with the data you prefer to see, lock the buttons and you can't stop mid run!
If you had the knowledge and training time logged to complete a that run, you would know what to expect and how to respond to the strain a 100k puts on the body
As I seem to have idiotically got a year full of ultras in 2024 starting with a 42 miler in January, dodging training is not really an option! I do think the prospect of a long run in awful weather is not so bad now that I have proper kit for it though.
How do you know how much salt carbs etc that you need? Might already have a video on this but can never have to many! Nutrition has always been confusing for me when doing long cardio sessions. Thanks!

The Wintering sounds great, but a little macho!!! Anyway, I'm on the other side of the world, so it is Summering here.
Just great can’t wait 👍
Good luck man
If you made an audiobook, I'd definitely listen to it.

If only had the money to join the wintering, seems fun. But yes - 14km before the sun gets out today :)
Need to get the old “auto lock” on the Garmin. 👌🏼
My Garmin 920xt is about 10 years old and never misses a beat….. pun intended 😂
Good work 💪
I used to have a white and red one! One of my favorite watches.
@@NILESWORD mine is white and red 💪
Manhattan is just like the movies, enjoy!
Go on Fergus.
Hi Fergus! Just ran my first 100 km on Saturday and the body is feeling it. Any tips on recovery and getting back to training appropriately?
If you had the knowledge and training time logged to complete a that run, you would know what to expect and how to respond to the strain a 100k puts on the body
Not necessarily.
I ran my first marathon after I completed like 30 10k
Was in the same spot after that lmao
Hard to get into the wintering mindset in southern California..... I'm used to north Wales winters

Fergus- how do you maintain hormone levels with the long bricks? Or is that something you keep track of?
Woooooooo

Probably mostly trying it out
What route did you do mate?
