How do you know what the people think? Intelligent people will of course agree with Lineker - thick bigots won’t. The UK has both but it’s impossible to say what the percentage split is - you can’t speak for the people- Gary doesn’t claim he does - it’s just his own personal opinion, and as he is not employed by the BBC, he can say what he wants, at least whilst we still have freedom of speech in this country. If you don’t agree don’t by a BBC license - simples.

With all due respect to Lord George Foulkes the BBC 'was' a globally respected broadcaster. As a Kiwi that has traveled around the world the BBC was once considered 'the' broadcaster of note. This is no longer the case, they aren't considered as bad as CNN of Fox etc but their recent lack of open debate/conversation around covid, trans and other as well as the wokification of shows like Doctor Who as one example has severely damaged their standing.

Lineker correctly claimed that the UK takes in fewer *refugees* than other major European countries. It is not his fault, when you can't tell the difference between migrants and people seeking asylum. Most migrants you "take in" are not asylum seekers.

2) Why should people pay the BBC to watch live TV on Sky and other platforms? It's immoral for the BBC to tax people to watch other platforms. Personally I hate the BBC and would never watch a minute of it even if the licence fee was free.
3) It's extremely easy to save money and not pay your TV licence.
The sooner the BBC becomes a subscription model the better. The licence fee even holds the BBC back.

@@tenniskinsella7768 Just fill out the online form every couple of years. If you're not watching live TV and fill out the form you have nothing to worry about. If they send round a goon don't let them in and film them, they'll soon go away. As long as you know exactly what you need a licence for there's nothing they can do, there's lots you can legally watch without having a licence. There's lots of info about it on youtube

As he's previously stated, he enjoyed having them stay and it was an education and great experience for his sons, as it gave them a perspective on the life of others who have nothing. As an 80 yr old my 78 yr old wife was worried sick in case they sent me to prison for not having a TV licence, so I bought a licence, there is a lot of staff on the BBC that should be ashamed of themselves for knowing where their wages come from!
I'm 76 and I cancelled two years ago. my husband was appalled! What could he watch? Luckily, we had just bought a smart tv so it was easy. He now watches TH-cam - catches all the old comedy and sitcoms and much more, Prime Video, Netflix and on demand through WiFi. Never have needed to watch any live TV. He now tells everyone who mentions the licence, it was the best thing he ever did, was cancel it😅
