That's too funny. I put the JB Weld in the exact same spot on my sister's Forester and here I am looking for radiator replacement videos as there is more cracking on the hose inlet.
Thanks, guys! I am going to replace the rad on my Forester 2006 in a few days. I was pretty sure this is not gonna be difficult, but I know the exact steps now.
Great angles in this video! 👌 I've had to do my radiator in my 05 a couple times now (239k miles now &counting) this video shows all the important clips and things the best I've seen.
Subscribed man I really hope you make more videos my girl has the same exact car this well very well explained and straight to the point. Anybody could get the job done with this video very easily
Love the videos man, I have a Subaru just like yours, same year and everything. Till what line should the fans kick on? Cause when it’s just running my fans don’t kick on till the 3 quarter mark, I don’t know if that’s normal, pls let me know
Did you have head gasket issues causing The radiator to become pressurized with Combustion gases blowing it? Are Radiator failures common in these cars?
No head gasket issues to my knowledge, I haven't heard of radiator failures being common, but that was the stock radiator on a car with over 250k miles.
Thank you for the video man! I have a few questions. Replaced the radiator and when I removed the bottom right hoses there came out a black liquid. Is that normal? is it oil or just old coolant?
not sure, it's possible oil is got in with the coolant, which would be a bad sign. However, it's likely that it was just old coolant that has been over heated.
It helps us a lot to subscribe! Also, if you have any questions about this process feel free to drop them here in the comments!

I think the fans are supposed to turn on once it reaches a programmed temperature.

I lost my radiator in my 98 subaru around 250k miles too and my 2008 forester
What about the transmission fluid? Do you need to top it off when done?
We didn't touch trans fluid but I did top of the coolant afterwards.
Thank you
Why weren’t the hoses replaced ? Is it okay to just replace the radiator n not replace the hoses
You can skip hoses, it is best if they are replacementas well, also depends on the size of the hose attachments on the new radiator.
Did your radiator come with a tranny cooler??? I keep reading they do for that gen... im trynna upgrade to a mishimoto (07 forester llbean)
Yes, this one did
What brand radiator?
CSF I think, It was the cheapest one from my local NAPA store.
Thank you for the video man!

if you are referingto the small hoses - it's transmission fluid
What coolant did you use to fill?
I think it was a 50/50 Resolute
