Hi Mark. I always enjoy your videos and have read a few of your articles. I am sure all your viewers love your stylish videos and the time you put in to them, but would be more than happy to just have you show and talk about records without edits and excerpts, if that means we get more content! Your words and knowledge would be enough to inspire us to seek out the music for ourselves. And you could always leave links to performances... You see how I am trying to make this easier for you, so it's a win for me and everyone else. ;-) Cheers, Alan
Very much appreciate the support and your suggestions. I often think of doing these in a more stripped-down way, like you suggest, but then the educator and former filmmaker in me gets the upper hand. We shall see......!!!!
Like you, Fremer kept me from selling my record collection back in the 90's, and thanks to you, my classical music collection has come alive. Congratulations, and yes, I will be reading every article that comes across Freme's site.
High praise indeed!! Very much appreciated. And of course NONE of this would have happened if I hadn't been inspired to start making videos by your channel. If ever you are in LA.....
Either through the written word or in your videos I always enjoy your depth of knowledge and recommendations. Congratulations on the 'tracking angle' opportunity!
I really enjoy your work. I was concerned that you hadn’t posted for a while but pleased to hear it was for the right reasons. As a fellow Brit living in LA i hope to see you around the local music places sometime. Congrats in joining Michael’s organization he is a tour de force and owed many thanks
Great news. I'm sure the articles are fantastic. Nevertheless, these videos have been invaluable - and much more valuable - to me and, I'm sure, many like me in exploring farther reaches of classical on vinyl so please keep it up here and please do consider entertaining some vinyl community collaborations to spread the reach of your channel.
Welcome back. I was so happy to see the Tippett record behind you and of course you chose it for the coronation. The suite Tippett wrote is very charming. I am a huge admirer of Tippett and in the 80s I wrote a couple of articles about him and I also had a close contact with what was then the Tippett office. They released a newsletter called "Tippet in Focus" and I spread it around here in Sweden. I met him and his friend Meirion Bowen once, I think it was in 1987 and we had martinis in Tippett's hotel room just the three of us. They were both absolutely lovely men, kind and generous. I now have all these books and scores of his music, signed by him and my only son has no interest in classical music whatsoever. Anyway, I will now find your articles.
Great to find another Tippett fan. What a memorable encounter. I actually attended the premiere of his opera "The Ice Break" at Covent Garden - another memorable event. You must find a good home for those scores etc. - maybe a University library? I will be talking about the Suite in my second Royal music video, almost finished. Always great to read your comments.
I enjoy your work very much. I live and work as a conductor and orchestral musician up in San Luis Obispo, but I come to L.A. quite often for record shopping. Let's go shopping some time!
Oh that is such a beautiful part of the world. Many years ago had a memorable encounter with some VERY smelly elephant seals down on on of the National Park beaches. Yes, do let's link up for some record shopping if you're ever in LA.
Lovely to see you again with some new content and the update. I had just assumed you were still recovering from your epic POP competition submission! It’s lovely to see your joy at the recent new challenges and I will definitely have a look through the links. It’s great to hear you will still be doing some videos as there is a special quality to them you’ve achieved. Your enthusiasm and personality shines through and from a viewers perspective it feels like you’re in the room in a comfy chair sharing an interesting chat and a cup of Earl Grey tea.
Well, I didn't get into the details in my video, but I subsequently visited the shop and saw the kind of prices he was selling similar records for. Ridiculous! (And made me even happier I didn't sell to him). He may be the single rudest vendor I've ever come across. Reading his many negative yelp reviews is an entertainment in itself. Such a shame. I would shop there regularly if things were otherwise.....

.... plus some toasted crumpets with strawberry jam, methinks..... Thanks so much for your kind words.
Congrats! Record Collector: He's interesting to have conversation with (over 30 years), but his prices! Ugh!
