Unfortunately it boiled down to licensing. They're doing a Refit and pre-orders begin August 1st, 2024, but still only for USA and Canada. People can still pre-order from other countries, but they MUST ship to a US or Canadian address. Freight forwarders can be used to forward it on to the buyer. Yes. More money, but that's the only way around Paramount's license.
I have to agree, I understand this is technically canon, but since it was never even HINTED at during the series I really don't see anyone motivated to display them separated. It just looks weird. I know I don't plan to. My guess it makes it easier to ship.
Has anybody else looked inside the bridge dome? It looks amazing! You can see the captain's chair and the helm. Chris at Tomy mentioned in a video that the bridge will be lit. Incredible!

I was one of the people who joined the Polar Lights 1701 Club and got one of the early 1:350 TOS Enterprise kits when they came out. As much as I'd love to do the same for this beautiful die cast replica I'm going to have to pass on it. The timing is really bad for me between home repairs, car repairs and the cost of everything else. Wishing Gary Kerr the best on this, can just imagine how excited Doug Drexler would be to have one on his desk. The articulating shuttle doors and the saucer separation feature is really cool, could have fun reliving that moment in the two part finale of Star Trek Continues where they do the saucer separation.

2008 Master Replicas did one for $1200 price. Plexiglass and plastic. This is diecast for $599, seems pretty reasonable in price. Only concern in are the lights powered by battery or plug in. 20lbs of model, this thing ain't getting moved. I would hope it has a plug in power source than battery powered.
I don't have any models, I was looking for the perfect one for me, and I think I just found it! Too bad the free shipping for US only, but I'll ask a friend of mine to see if he can send it to me PD: the only think I don't like much is where the saucer separates, is not a big deal, it's cool, but wouldn't be better if the sections separate just where the primary hull and the neck meets? Instead of a line in the neck... but still, it looks awesome! I want one!
Remember this is a prototype. This isn't the final version. Hopefully the gap between the neck and saucer will be improved and look better. I'm already in!!! For the price this is a no brainer. : )
I always thought that the neck-to-secondary hull junction was meant to be the point of separation which would provide the third "landing gear leg" of the tripod formed by the two forward landing pads (the long triangular bits on the primary hull underside) and the bottom of the neck. What would be really cool would be the ability to extend the landing pads and show the primary hull in it's landed configuration.
Well, they made their final goal! The last goal update was 2,000 Backers and $1,200,000.00. They got 2,274 Backers and $1,565,189.00. The model will be produced. For those who want one but didn't order before the deadline, be prepared to pay a bundle!
Considering the cost and effort of making your own out of a plastic kit, $599 for a larger diecast is a steal compared to Eaglemoss pricing.....so for those that can't build their own, it's a bargain. Too cheap to be true.
I think it's a spectacular price for the size and material! But, I'm not a fan of the weathering - I don't recall seeing any rusty colored areas on the original model. Even if there were, I'd prefer a clean version, myself. Hell, I wouldn't have anywhere to display this thing anyway because it takes up so much space. I have to agree with many here about bad timing in regards to the spiralling economy and uncertain financial future.

UPDATE: I just contacted TOMY for a clarification and just heard back from them. While they say they need "2500 backers" on the web site, what they really mean is they need backers for 2500 units! This is important since, on their crowd-funding website, it shows the number of backers they currently have, but many of the backers are getting 2 or three units. So, for example, as I type this, the web page says they have 1457 backers, but in fact they have raised $976,372, so they have backers for about 1630 units! Bottom line - they need to raise $1.5M for this to happen (i.e., backers for 2500 UNITS). At 65% needed at this moment with just 6 days to go - so be sure to SHARE the page often on Social Media.
I bought the non lit polar lights preassembled 1/350th kit I think if I didn’t already have that or if this was the refit I would go for it, the polar lights was $449 so this isn’t a bad deal
@@ajclements4627 It's a custom build of mine. Nothing official. Back in the 90's Lego made a deal with Lucasfilm for the rights to Star Wars. Part of the deal was that Lego couldn't licence any other pop culture sci-fi. So sadly no, it's just a custom.
Thanks for the video, not familiar with Tomy so I appreciate your input. The fact that Gary Kerr is involved really excites me as I want it to be true to the Orginal-Smithsonian model. The 600 price tag is reasonable. BTW I am a fan of the weathering as I want it to be 100% true to the original.
Yeah, I would jump on this but don't have the disposable cash on hand. With gas prices, inflation, and the joys of homeownership in general, it's hard to justify that expense right now.
The size is right. Did the fake lego one and it looks much better at that size. But I am done with TOS to be honest and its aesthetic. I would buy a motion picture version in a second. Just wish eaglemoss would do a super scale line of the major ships rather than random small ships.
If you don't mind me saying up on adventure was the first shift for the secondary all designs but it did have design drawbacks like the extra low the secondary causing a bad buffring pushing for work six speed.,.. but when spotted by Scotty and the time trap and he was looking at it through magnification distorting the ship's design making the work engines looking bigger than what they were to read the numbers and noticing the NCC was at the wrong end printed in the shipyard.....
Great for those who can't build models to a pro standard, sorry if this sounds like a downer but it looks weird in some pictures, the neck seems to be elongated and the saucer looks too thin, not by much but enough to catch my attention, hope the final model will be more accurate 👍
Being a Canadian resident as well, I have to tell you you should read the terms of services. Under section 12 (crowd-funded products) it mentions under "shiping" that as the buyer you agree not to export or arrange for the export of the product(s). This clause is applicable for all crowd-funded products. I am currently in communication with TOMY and they've escalated the concern and are looking into it. I was very transparent with them and told them I plan to have it shipped to a party with a valid US address (a re-shipping service design to circumvent such situations) which would then arrange to have it shipped to me in Canada at my own expense. I do not see how this would be an issue, but since the clause is present and since they basically tell you they can cancel your order if they have any suspicion you are breaking the terms of service, I thought you should know.

Called the Tomy company earlier today following my initial email and they acknowleged the concern and confirmed it was currently looked into by what they called "level 2". Hope they confirm that as long as a customer has a US shipping address it's fine.
@@nelsonc6173 The supervisor told me on the phone that as long as the shipping address is located in the continental US and is not a PO box address, they will ship it. They said that everybody from anywhere is welcome to contribute if they can arrange the item to be shipped to them from a thrid party located within the continental US, as long as they don't have to ship it internationally themselves. They probably just don't want to handle the logistics. I elected to have it shipped to a reshipping service myself, and my plege is in. Hope the info helped and hope we'll reach the goal! I badly want this thing.

Buy it, or don't buy it. We'll see mid October whether the work, and the Crowdfunding price was worth it. Some folks on eBay, who either missed the boat or had misgivings, are pushing their money hard to get their hands on one. Almost 2x the initial Crowdfunding price. We'll see.
This seems to be a bargain if you can afford it, but I wish they would take a gamble and make a Constitution refit for once. I already have the Kreo Classic Enterprise and I like it's enormous size and quirky features. Paid a lot for shipping to UK though

I think it's a really fair price if the end result looks good and knowing that Gary Kerry is involved gives me a lot of hope it will be good. I'm a little concerned about having die cast nacelles hanging in space that they may bend and sag over time. We'll see.
I'm not totally understanding why this is available only to residents of the lower 48 states. As of today, 16 June, they have only 548 backers and a total of $355,000 raised. That's 10 days into the campaign. At that rate, I'm not sure they'll get the backing they need. I've contributed at the Commander level, and hope this thing goes through. Perhaps the crowd funding ventures pose a tax or other legal issue when going out of the country, I don't know. Looks amazing, and hope I get my hands on one!
What you need to do is similar to Haslab projects. Haslab for every 2000 and 5000 over the required number for production they add bonuses. Let us imagine the order number reaches 7000, then a Galileo will be included that can be placed in the Hangar; at 17,010 a custom diorama display case with the inside mimics a lighted starfield and a famous planet from the show, therefore NCC-1701 appears to be in orbit when placed in the case
They need to promote this more. There's literally you and 1 other youtuber that mentioned this item. Do a search and no one else besides Tomy is talking about it. That is crazy!! The Polar Lights kit is over $170 right now. Then you add the Lighting Kit for that and another $150. Plus you have to be good at assembling and painting. The prebuilt version was around 500$ without lights. $600 for this is a steal and as you said after-market on this is gonna blow up. I really hope this gets backed or at least extended until the word goes out properly. Only 14 more days to go and it hasn't even reached a 1000, ugh.
No one’s talking about it because if you’re not an American, you’re basically out of luck to get it shipped. I’d consider it if there was ANY option for shipping outside the states. Really dumb move and kind of insulting that if you’re in USA you get free shipping, and if not, then you don’t even have the option of paying for shipping.

I hope they fill in the seam around the perimeter of the saucer before it ships (see 3:30 of video) I'm glad the panels along the sides of the nacelles are NOT lit since it's more show-accurate. What do they mean by "articulated" shuttle deck? Do the doors slide open and closed? They say motorized nacelles but are there motors in the nacelles or are the LEDs electronically sequenced? Is this more or less accurate than the Polar Lights 1/350 plastic version? I'm looking forward to the second official video.
I had two models with detachable saucer. They weren't supposed to, but... I'd love to get hold of this, but the timing is unfortunately wrong for me. And probably wouldn't ship to the UK anyway.

The actual studio model has weathering (your rustic marks..😂) and you can also see it from time to time in the TV show. So it's accurate in that way. Foolish to return it. Should have let yourself calm down. After seeing the videos of it its very nice and $600 for the biggest Enterprise ever made in diecast and probably last 1/350 in diecast is a STEAL.....you missed out on a collectable that will only gain value. They are now selling for 2 or 3 times the price aftermarket....glad I kept my two.... 👍
It is happening they got the backers, it is going to be made. I am guessing after the initial offering to the backers it is going on sale to the public for a few hundred dollars more. That is a total guess on my part. It would make sense to have people/fans fund the R&D sell it to them at a introductory price then release it to everyone since the hard part is done.
I saw a photo of the early prototype that had a clear bridge dome but that doesn't mean anything. Word is the bay doors will open and close but they're trying to get it to work.

Q on the Nacelle noise: During one of the Tommy clips, I heard a distinct motor noise that started when they turned on the lights and the nacelles started spinning. Can you confirm if there is nacelle noise or not? Thank you!
Really cool. But they picked the absolute worst time to put it out, especially us on fixed incomes. I did manage to get the PL Prebuilt at the first of the year. Then the prices shot up. I suppose I could sell it and buy this one, but a year out before getting it? The only thing I don't like about die cast are the open seams. But I guess there's no way around that. Hope it gets made. Cool knowing it's out there, Too much Star Wars stuff.

A touch more about a bonaventure it was built during the Golden age of warped by ships like the NX.1. Enterprise and Columbia.... And the intrepid that was a disasters to her captain and crew.....
After they lowered the required amount to 2000 units, they have blown past that and now are funded at 129%! They've funded over 2500 units (many backers bought multiple units). It's a go! Now we just have to wait an entire year! That will be the hard part!
I would like to see this make the goal but with 5 days left only 2/3 there it's not looking good. There seems to be a pretty visceral reaction to the saucer sep feature. I really think they'd get better support without that feature.
I'm assuming it's the seams from on the neck of the ship that is bothering people. They could change it during production. They promised the other seams would not be noticeable ...not sure about the neck seams though. May be lessened when it's all tightened up...we shall see...
I think the price is actually not that bad. The only problem is I am not a fan of the original series. Now if they made the the 1701-D, I will get that day one.

FINALLY got mine today. It is NOT worth it, First off, the Enterprise in TOS did NOT have saucer separation capability! The miodel ALSO shouldn't have it. I haven't felt like such as sucker as I have when the sub-par thing was delievered today. I'll never buy a Tomy product ever again. It has the quality of 1960s Hot Wheels. Piss poor.
The only time Star Trek TOS mentioned it was in the episode “The Apple” Captain Kirk told Mr.Scott to get the Enterprise out of Obit and he didn’t care if he had to discard warp cells and body if could only get the saucer section and if he couldn’t he is fired 😮 !!!!!!
I thought the same thing forever as well but stumbled on similar talk in the episode "The Savage Curtain". The Rock creatures on the planet did something to the Enterprise's matter and antimatter. They had 4 hours before the ship would explode. Kirk tells Scotty to "inform Starfleet Command. Disengage nacelles, Jettison if possible." Not exactly a direct "saucer section separation" order but seemed about as close to it as the one in "The Apple".
I tried hard to get one. Im glad I didn't. Unobtanium had horrible results with theirs, as the resin they chose literally slowly sagged in not just the nacelles, but even the bridge. There was no metal frame inside. Currently the Master Replicas is premier version. This one is the first and only 350 scale with saucer sep! I am so stoked.

I think it's a spectacular price for the size and material! But, I'm not a fan of the weathering - I don't recall seeing any rusty colored areas on the original model. Even if there were, I'd prefer a clean version, myself. Hell, I wouldn't have anywhere to display this thing anyway because it takes up so much space. I have to agree with many here about bad timing in regards to the spiralling economy and uncertain financial future.
Yeah the weathering made it a big NO for me.
The rust is really heavy handed.

UPDATE: I just contacted TOMY for a clarification and just heard back from them. While they say they need "2500 backers" on the web site, what they really mean is they need backers for 2500 units! This is important since, on their crowd-funding website, it shows the number of backers they currently have, but many of the backers are getting 2 or three units. So, for example, as I type this, the web page says they have 1457 backers, but in fact they have raised $976,372, so they have backers for about 1630 units! Bottom line - they need to raise $1.5M for this to happen (i.e., backers for 2500 UNITS). At 65% needed at this moment with just 6 days to go - so be sure to SHARE the page often on Social Media.

I bought the non lit polar lights preassembled 1/350th kit I think if I didn’t already have that or if this was the refit I would go for it, the polar lights was $449 so this isn’t a bad deal

@@ajclements4627 It's a custom build of mine. Nothing official. Back in the 90's Lego made a deal with Lucasfilm for the rights to Star Wars. Part of the deal was that Lego couldn't licence any other pop culture sci-fi. So sadly no, it's just a custom.
Thanks for the video, not familiar with Tomy so I appreciate your input. The fact that Gary Kerr is involved really excites me as I want it to be true to the Orginal-Smithsonian model. The 600 price tag is reasonable. BTW I am a fan of the weathering as I want it to be 100% true to the original.
Not bad at that price considering polar lights sold their pre-assembled 1/350 TOS Enterprise for about $400 or more & that was with NO lighting 🖖🏾
Yeah, I would jump on this but don't have the disposable cash on hand. With gas prices, inflation, and the joys of homeownership in general, it's hard to justify that expense right now.

The size is right. Did the fake lego one and it looks much better at that size. But I am done with TOS to be honest and its aesthetic. I would buy a motion picture version in a second. Just wish eaglemoss would do a super scale line of the major ships rather than random small ships.
If you don't mind me saying up on adventure was the first shift for the secondary all designs but it did have design drawbacks like the extra low the secondary causing a bad buffring pushing for work six speed.,.. but when spotted by Scotty and the time trap and he was looking at it through magnification distorting the ship's design making the work engines looking bigger than what they were to read the numbers and noticing the NCC was at the wrong end printed in the shipyard.....

Great for those who can't build models to a pro standard, sorry if this sounds like a downer but it looks weird in some pictures, the neck seems to be elongated and the saucer looks too thin, not by much but enough to catch my attention, hope the final model will be more accurate 👍

Being a Canadian resident as well, I have to tell you you should read the terms of services. Under section 12 (crowd-funded products) it mentions under "shiping" that as the buyer you agree not to export or arrange for the export of the product(s). This clause is applicable for all crowd-funded products. I am currently in communication with TOMY and they've escalated the concern and are looking into it. I was very transparent with them and told them I plan to have it shipped to a party with a valid US address (a re-shipping service design to circumvent such situations) which would then arrange to have it shipped to me in Canada at my own expense. I do not see how this would be an issue, but since the clause is present and since they basically tell you they can cancel your order if they have any suspicion you are breaking the terms of service, I thought you should know.

Called the Tomy company earlier today following my initial email and they acknowleged the concern and confirmed it was currently looked into by what they called "level 2". Hope they confirm that as long as a customer has a US shipping address it's fine.
@@nelsonc6173 The supervisor told me on the phone that as long as the shipping address is located in the continental US and is not a PO box address, they will ship it. They said that everybody from anywhere is welcome to contribute if they can arrange the item to be shipped to them from a thrid party located within the continental US, as long as they don't have to ship it internationally themselves. They probably just don't want to handle the logistics. I elected to have it shipped to a reshipping service myself, and my plege is in. Hope the info helped and hope we'll reach the goal! I badly want this thing.

I think it's a really fair price if the end result looks good and knowing that Gary Kerry is involved gives me a lot of hope it will be good. I'm a little concerned about having die cast nacelles hanging in space that they may bend and sag over time. We'll see.
I'm not totally understanding why this is available only to residents of the lower 48 states. As of today, 16 June, they have only 548 backers and a total of $355,000 raised. That's 10 days into the campaign. At that rate, I'm not sure they'll get the backing they need. I've contributed at the Commander level, and hope this thing goes through. Perhaps the crowd funding ventures pose a tax or other legal issue when going out of the country, I don't know. Looks amazing, and hope I get my hands on one!

What you need to do is similar to Haslab projects. Haslab for every 2000 and 5000 over the required number for production they add bonuses.
Let us imagine the order number reaches 7000, then a Galileo will be included that can be placed in the Hangar; at 17,010 a custom diorama
display case with the inside mimics a lighted starfield and a famous planet from the show, therefore NCC-1701 appears to be in orbit when placed in the case

They need to promote this more. There's literally you and 1 other youtuber that mentioned this item. Do a search and no one else besides Tomy is talking about it. That is crazy!! The Polar Lights kit is over $170 right now. Then you add the Lighting Kit for that and another $150. Plus you have to be good at assembling and painting. The prebuilt version was around 500$ without lights. $600 for this is a steal and as you said after-market on this is gonna blow up.
I really hope this gets backed or at least extended until the word goes out properly. Only 14 more days to go and it hasn't even reached a 1000, ugh.
No one’s talking about it because if you’re not an American, you’re basically out of luck to get it shipped. I’d consider it if there was ANY option for shipping outside the states. Really dumb move and kind of insulting that if you’re in USA you get free shipping, and if not, then you don’t even have the option of paying for shipping.

I hope they fill in the seam around the perimeter of the saucer before it ships (see 3:30 of video) I'm glad the panels along the sides of the nacelles are NOT lit since it's more show-accurate. What do they mean by "articulated" shuttle deck? Do the doors slide open and closed? They say motorized nacelles but are there motors in the nacelles or are the LEDs electronically sequenced? Is this more or less accurate than the Polar Lights 1/350 plastic version? I'm looking forward to the second official video.

The actual studio model has weathering (your rustic marks..😂) and you can also see it from time to time in the TV show. So it's accurate in that way. Foolish to return it. Should have let yourself calm down. After seeing the videos of it its very nice and $600 for the biggest Enterprise ever made in diecast and probably last 1/350 in diecast is a STEAL.....you missed out on a collectable that will only gain value. They are now selling for 2 or 3 times the price aftermarket....glad I kept my two.... 👍
Love it, but the Playmobil is only $250 shipped. Not as accurate, but it has play features.

It is happening they got the backers, it is going to be made. I am guessing after the initial offering to the backers it is going on sale to the public for a few hundred dollars more. That is a total guess on my part. It would make sense to have people/fans fund the R&D sell it to them at a introductory price then release it to everyone since the hard part is done.
They said after the initial backer quantity there will be no more made...
Does anyone know if you'll be able to see the bridge under the dome? Also, does articulated doors on the hangar deck me they will open and close?
I saw a photo of the early prototype that had a clear bridge dome but that doesn't mean anything. Word is the bay doors will open and close but they're trying to get it to work.

Q on the Nacelle noise: During one of the Tommy clips, I heard a distinct motor noise that started when they turned on the lights and the nacelles started spinning. Can you confirm if there is nacelle noise or not? Thank you!
Really cool. But they picked the absolute worst time to put it out, especially us on fixed incomes. I did manage to get the PL Prebuilt at the first of the year. Then the prices shot up. I suppose I could sell it and buy this one, but a year out before getting it? The only thing I don't like about die cast are the open seams. But I guess there's no way around that. Hope it gets made. Cool knowing it's out there, Too much Star Wars stuff.
Those PL prebuilts were the same price as this and no lights and plastic..

they are indeed lit. About halfway though they turn the lights off and on, on the prottype.

After they lowered the required amount to 2000 units, they have blown past that and now are funded at 129%! They've funded over 2500 units (many backers bought multiple units). It's a go! Now we just have to wait an entire year! That will be the hard part!
Kinda weird that happened. It took them 2 months to get 100%. Than in a couple days they get 30% more...

I would like to see this make the goal but with 5 days left only 2/3 there it's not looking good. There seems to be a pretty visceral reaction to the saucer sep feature. I really think they'd get better support without that feature.
I'm assuming it's the seams from on the neck of the ship that is bothering people. They could change it during production. They promised the other seams would not be noticeable ...not sure about the neck seams though. May be lessened when it's all tightened up...we shall see...
I think the price is actually not that bad. The only problem is I am not a fan of the original series. Now if they made the the 1701-D, I will get that day one.

Looking in the dome it looks to me like the captain's chair faces forwaward. The details are going to be amazing on this thing!
6 beans is less than what a pro built 1/350 scale model costs. Average is around $1400. And those are plastic
For that cost they should’ve solved the glaring upper to lower saucer seam.
This is a prototype. They say a more finished version will be revealed soon.

FINALLY got mine today. It is NOT worth it, First off, the Enterprise in TOS did NOT have saucer separation capability! The miodel ALSO shouldn't have it. I haven't felt like such as sucker as I have when the sub-par thing was delievered today. I'll never buy a Tomy product ever again. It has the quality of 1960s Hot Wheels. Piss poor.

The only time Star Trek TOS mentioned it was in the episode “The Apple” Captain Kirk told Mr.Scott to get the Enterprise out of Obit and he didn’t care if he had to discard warp cells and body if could only get the saucer section and if he couldn’t he is fired 😮 !!!!!!
I thought the same thing forever as well but stumbled on similar talk in the episode "The Savage Curtain". The Rock creatures on the planet did something to the Enterprise's matter and antimatter. They had 4 hours before the ship would explode. Kirk tells Scotty to "inform Starfleet Command. Disengage nacelles, Jettison if possible."
Not exactly a direct "saucer section separation" order but seemed about as close to it as the one in "The Apple".
Is this going to be like the Unobtainium model that was being advertised about 15 years ago? Is it smaller than that one and did one get one of those?
I tried hard to get one. Im glad I didn't. Unobtanium had horrible results with theirs, as the resin they chose literally slowly sagged in not just the nacelles, but even the bridge. There was no metal frame inside. Currently the Master Replicas is premier version. This one is the first and only 350 scale with saucer sep! I am so stoked.
