Got to the end - From what I've seen from other TH-camrs, the signs actually matter. "0" is base level, to give you a feel of what everything SHOULD look like, which is why you tend to go back to "0" instead of the previous # if you fail. You're trying to get to the actual "Exit 8", so each # is kind of a level? You get yanked back to "0" if you fail so you can look at the actual normal appearance again.
