Proper job, sir; choosing an N-type connector and fastening the radials with a ring-spanner. 👌
Having only an X50, I never realized that there’s assembly to the longer Diamond/Comet antennas. As an FYI, you did exactly what I would do. Put tape or silicon at every joint. That’s the one advantageous the X50 - no joints to let water in. Nice job!
You did some great work with your install, the only thing I would have done is silicone grease on your screws and the U bolt clamps. I do like where you sealed each of the antenna sections with sealing tape. Inad a Diamond H700 with a broken sections inside the fiberglass poles after just over 2 years. When I contacted Diamond antennas no one has ever called back and no answer on any of my emails. I am very disappointed with Diamond antennas...
beyond the god awful and quite frankly uncessary music, this is an amazing video, what an antenna and thank you for sharing this installation with us. I am really tempted to get one, but having gone thru a X30 and X50, going to an X7000 hmmm.. looks amazing i bet the performance is as good as it looks.
Well I've ordered one now having an IC9700. Fingers crossed, thanks again for the cool video.
This video saved my a$$ when installing my Diamond V2000 triband (6m/2m/440) antenna, which is of a similar design. I couldn't figure out what the "Gasket Holder" (Part #16002) and the "Gasket" (Part #16004) were until I watch this video (1:12 and 2:08). I was confused because the Gasket Holder is seated over the Gasket, and doesn't move due to the tight resistance of the Gasket and the directions were sparse at best. I thought the Gasket Holder was some sort of a non-stationary stop, but I knew something was wrong after tightening the upper joint nut (part 16002) onto the lower joint and noted the Upper Element (part 16001) was loose. Once again, TH-cam to the rescue. 73, Billy
You should cover the self-amalgamating tape with electrical tape such as Scotch 88 or 33 to protect it from UV.
Just a tip for next time. Put an electrical tape first then the rubber tape next, this way it will be a lot easier to peel it off cleanly if need be for maitainance.
tape better when applied from bottom then wound up less exposed seam for water
Thank you for sharing :-)
Why the loop in the coax at the base of the antenna?
I will receive my new Diamond X300A today and I am all set to install it. I looked at the Diamond website at the installation instructions. There is no mention to make the loop. If this is an upgrade, please let me know.
Thanks 4 sharing,
Jay N6WIP
Next time you need to change or maintenance the antenna, you will have extra coax to can pull up it, change/repair and re-install with no need to un-tie all the rest of coax installation.....
You upgraded from the X510N to this? Why? Did you have any issues with the 510??? How was its performance? Any issues with water leakage, High SWR or RX/TX issues???
I'm looking at going with the X510 or the Comet GP-9 and for some reason, I'm leaning towards the X510, but I'm trying to get actual end user input, vs just manufacture's Shiny Sheet Info.
Thanks for your time and this video.
Nice video, but I thought the X7000 was 4 sections (24')??
I just got one to use w/ my IC9700 on 440. It's a bit early, but so far I love it. Mine's up about 30 ft, I see u're a little higher, lol! But this antenna's a real beaut!!
My uncle taught me to start wrapping tape from the bottom and go up. Water flows down and has less of a chance of ingress.
Not necessary with self-amalgamating tape. It bond's chemically to form a single mass.
Next time put white tape over the black tape for the vvf visual visual Factor it'll all look better. Don't use white cable ties outside. They rot faster than the black ones.
Are you putting the antenna on top of a commercial business. Is it yours how how does one gets permission to do that
Please answer, do you really feel a difference between the two? Can you help me to make a choice ?
Hi, at 10:32 video time, why did you put a large loop on the feed line coax, is it just a drip loop to displace water?
Or is it to hold the extra cable length?
Or is there some other reason, perhaps a electromagnetic reason? thanks
@@EzioBassBoost many raisons for my:
1/ If you need to do maintenance to the antenna the loop allows you to undo the grub screw and pull the antenna out of the holder tube, should be just enough slack to pull the antenna up and undo the connector without having to dismantle everything else.
2/ Loop is required that water didn’t flood feeder.
What difference did you notice using this new antenna? I am now using a Diamond X6000 with my ICOM IC9700 and wonder whether to get the X7000 for the better gain.
Hi, the x7000 has more gain and bigger www.diamond-ant.co.jp/english/amateur/antenna/ante_2base/ante_base3.html
HB9GYR Have used this antenna for 3 years on a 25 meter tower atop a windy hilltop QTH. A phenomenal antenna. Many TNX 73 KB3H
Mi puoi mettere il link di questa antenna per acqusu Amazon grazie mille 🙏
Hello. Advise which is better, X510 or 7000? What is the maximum pipe diameter can be used for installation? +1
Hi Sergey, the x510 is biband 144/430 and the x7000 is triband 144/430/1200, is same performance and same diameter but shorter than 50cm
What a nice antenna!
Hi I have a 510 and thinking of replacing it with a x7000. Did you notice any better performance with the antenna on 2/70 ?
@@HB9GYR hi there.ive just got this antenna but have to wait until this storm passes before I get it put up..just wondering on what power and how far have you managed to get out with this?upgrading from in attic x5000 mount to and outside x7000
nice location and view there.
I wouldn't do the same if the antennas were mine but thank you very much for filming and sharing!
Why don't you tell what you would have done different vs " I would not have done the same if I did it"...
What and Why, would be helpful. I mean you very well may have some great reasons and more knowledge on this subject or You might just be, ""That Guy""????
@@invisalinkaccounts2740 I agree, what a waist of a comment he had. Tell us why.
Just want to say I’m jealous of your aerials and your views, I think I would sit on the roof with a handheld and a beer on a good day. 73s. ZL1PDM

What are the loops for in the cable?
If you need to do maintenance to the antenna the loop allows you to undo the grub screw and pull the antenna out of the holder tube, should be just enough slack to pull the antenna up and undo the connector without having to dismantle everything else.
He races pigeons and this is one of the hoops they have to fly through to qualify. ;) Dual purpose. Or as the saying goes, "killing two birds with one stone". Pardon the pun.
very good work
Hi
Help, please, I need to know the order and how the elements of a x 500 go.

I have the Diamond X700H,
But I didn't know that there is another model called X7000 ! 🤔
Hassan Alnajjar - A65AP Yes, X7000 is triband antenna 144/430/1200 is best antenna
Great video
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍💎
Just had to mute the totally unnecessary and distracting “music😬” otherwise …. An interesting video …
would you like to sale late antena ?
thank you from korea ham HL5JHU ^^^^__

Kill the Music and speak...The Tape is Absolutely unnecessary.
guy prob doesn't speak English. The vulcanizing tape is great to help prevent water ingress. Id prob do the same thing.
Sorry to give you a Thumbs down, but you TALK on the Radio for hours and you could not say a word all through the 11;27 minutes? Also, the music was totally annoying, a loop of the same annoying music! Explain what you are doing will help more understand what and why you are thinking. Also, a list of items used will also be nice, with links will be great!

2 LAYER TAPE START IN TOP STOP
IN TOP .. THEN TAPE IS WATRE REPELLENT
Always wrap your tape from the bottom up, not the top down. Prevents water ingress.
