It's 2023 and it's time for people to acknowledge that the design as Facebook/meta has always been very average, filled with biases. They may have not been as bad as Twitter (who refused to set up a BLOCK USER button for years, enabling stalkers to harass women without problems) but the only thing they had was to be the first and that they made a lot of money. They are the vanilla of modern product design. And as in many big tech companies, the impact of their upper design managers is actually very limited. Not everyone can be a Jony Ive.

I wonder what FB's products would look like if we added one more question here to the core design process: "What could go wrong if we solved this problem and is it worth it?"
With such great power that 20-something designers and engineers have at FB the earlier you can instill broader responsibility for the products you create the better. I love this framework for product design but too often, especially in the valley, is it believed that solving the problem validates the steps taken or oversights made to get there.

Most of facebooks features are just a toolbar and a webview. And the design really sucks. Instagram looks way better than the facebook app.

It's more about user experience I think. UX of facebook is maybe one reason why users stuck to it, it's my personnal opinion

@@JalalBricha The UX of Facebook is frightening. There are wayyyyy too many tools/choices. Absolute mess. Facebook works because they add features for all different people. Facebook is useless to me besides Marketplace and ads. Other features might fit the needs of other people.
