@@ZoeStibiVocalCoach It became an anthem of sorts for the country Korea amongst some, after a national tragedy and though song is not about the tragedy the video, its artistic choices and the intervening years have created an association.
RM and SUGA - two out of three rappers of BTS - wrote this song, it is based on their personal experience with old friends, as they said, but this song is also related to national tragedy
i think it is related to the tragedy. i think the lyrics of the song is like the perspective of the survivors. they miss their friends who unfortunately died and they're telling them to wait for them. i don't think RM and Suga meant it to be related to the tragedy but it somehow is.
@@loredell Yes it's tiring. I think a lot of people conflate the messages depicted in the MV with the song itself. The song tells a universal story of longing and nostalgia, sorrow, and hope. The music video tells a specific story that definitely brings to mind the Sewol Ferry tragedy. Two different things. Both true. And they probably don't know that in 2016 BTS did write a song that blatantly criticized what happened on Sewol Ferry, and it was pretty controversial: "Am I Wrong". Even the choreography was a play-act calling out the government. There is no guessing with "Am I Wrong."

Spring Day was released 4 years ago and is really beloved by fans and in Korea. So yeah, they've performed this track quite a lot haha. I think it's also one of V's favorite songs.
I'm so glad to hear what you've said about boybands in the past because I think there's a lot of preconceptions about boyband music and creative control. BTS doesn't have a discography of cute lovey-dovey love songs that their label wants them to put out. Their musical roots are in hip hop and rap and the group are composed of producers and songwriters. Even though BTS is from Korea, I think a lot of people like me, had this stereotype of boybands based on our experiences here.
These songs, compared to the rest of BTSs discography, are actually kind of similar lol They originated in hiphop and have spread through pretty much every genre from edm and rock to smooth jazz and neo soul, so theyre massively versatile! This song was written by Leader RM, after a national tragedy in Korea. RM has written around 180+ songs, but every member was written songs for them
We call Spring Day our "Queen" :). It was written by RM (second from right) and Suga (second from left) about missing friends from childhood, either due to just growing up and apart or by death. There was a national tragedy in 2014 where over 300 people drowned, mostly school-aged kids, and this song (2017) struck a cord with the Korean public. BTS embraced this correlation and the official MV for Spring Day is a tribute to those lost. The song charted right away and has NEVER LEFT the charts to this day.
I recommend the Festa medley video of 2021. It's also called BTS Room Live. It's snippets of 8 songs from throughout their 8 years of discography. It's really fun and a nice overview of their music overall.
RM was the main writer on the song Spring day, and Suga contributed, as well as some of their in house producers. The song is not about the Sewol Ferry tragedy, but the music video director did use that event for inspiration. RM has said many, many times that he wrote this song about missing a friend back home in Ilsan.
@@JoobieLoobieSoobie Thank you both so much for saying this. Exactly what does it gain any of you to deny that the song was inspired by a national tragedy that everyone should know about? RM's inspiration in that park wasn't just the leaves falling, it was what he was feeling, and it has been confirmed from their own mouths that it was about a particular tragic event. The time to be nitpicky has passed. Just let it go and let the message be spread. Your stubborn contradiction undermines the huge subversive effort BTS made during a time they could have been blacklisted.
@@flyushkifly Because it has not been confirmed that the song itself is about that. Theories are fine, but they should not be taken as fact. The video is confirmed to be inspired by such events, and I don't doubt that the group approved that decision, as it's the final product that we all know. But there's a difference between speculation and fact. Also, just because the song itself isn't confirmed to be about that doesn't lessen the importance or impact of the tragedy, and it doesn't stop anyone from knowing about it.
5:18 that wasn't the backing vocal of the track, it was another member (purple mic) harmonizing with him ☺️ they often do that combo in a few different songs as well, where they get a vocalist harmonize or do adlibs with a rapper. Here they had jungkook (purple mic) harmonize with rapper jhope (red mic) And when suga (black mic) started his verse right after, jimin (orange mic) did adlibs A lovely reaction! Thank you so much💜
I love how you focused on their delivery of Spring Day and not their vocal techniques, especially because it's a very emotional song. I feel like people tend to forget that singing is also a form of story telling and they really did a great job at expressing the song. They're really great performers, whether it is ballad or generally an upbeat/hype song they know how to send the message and energy they want to convey and make you feel it! Thank you for being interested in our boys. ARMYs tend to write long comments but it's just really our passion so I hope you don't mind and don't feel bombarded! Love your mindset and energy, I hope you can do more reactions about our boys
They've been performing live throughout 2020, just without audience:) including exclusive full concerts for which one could buy live stream tickets. There is quite a difficult choreography for Spring Day
This song was mainly written by RM, the guy with blue hair, as well as Suga, the guy with black hair and orange sunglasses. There are many interpretations for the lyrics, but the most prominent one for me is the feeling of loss of a friend (either due to distance or death). This song's music video is also based on a national tragedy that involved the deaths of hundreds of children (the Sewol Ferry Tragedy) so another way you could interpret the lyrics is to cope with loss and that even in Winter, the Spring day will always come around. It's a sad song to say the least lol. I started crying when I first heard the bridge and Tae's line "you know it all, you're my best friend."
I love seeing you react to BTS, I can’t wait for one of my favourite songs. This performance has a really special place in my heart, I hope you liked it 💜
The biggest complement a person can have for these seven young men is showing that you enjoy the song and are left speechless during their performance.
MTV Unplugged next 😊 Telepathy, Blue & Grey, Fix You, here is the link for Spring Day explanation th-cam.com/video/Tye1ONFeKis/w-d-xo.html Many Army believed it related to their National tragedy. You can watch this at your own. 😊 This song still in Melon Chart since it debut. Queen of all
There are a latest live performances from BTS such as BTS ROOM and film out live in CDTV. You can see their vocals are very amazing and very different with one another..
They had 2 online concerts so far (October & June) but no live audience yet 🥺 they are very sad to not see Army in person. Korea has opened up a bit but not enough yet for live audiences
Hi... yes it starts off as a sad song but BTS writes lyrics that generally turn things around with a lesson or some sort of positivity or hope. Also around the 5:13 mark, you start talking about how you can hear the track more than you can hear the voice of the one with full orange suit (rapper) with the red mic. I'm not actually sure what you're hearing but in case you couldn't tell, the guy with the orange jacket (vocals) and purple mic is actually harmonizing with him off camera. You can catch the tail end of him singing shown at 04:16.
Btw jhope (red mic) is a rapper and lead dancer and also is a sub-vocal, and jungkook (purple mic) is the main vocalist, also a sub-rapper. So both of em may often sing and rap at some part of some songs.
Don't worry about not being able to read and listen and react at the same time. You'll learn. With time and regular exposure to Kpop, you'll learn. :) Also, yes. BTS have said several times that they have missed performing for ARMY terribly. These were very difficult times for them and they said that they cried a lot because they missed ARMY so bad. They really love us a lot. I love that you pointed out the storytelling aspect of a song. BTS are incredible storytellers and they have been ever since their debut. You also have to remember that there usually is another element to their performances that wasn't present here - dancing. They do have choreographies for most songs and they do use that element for storytelling as well.
Hi!! New to your channel already love you! YOu should try BTS Room Live it was recently released on their channel for me this Tiny Desk Concert and that BTS Room Live is my healing spot. And yes they are involved in the lyrics and production. Thank you for giving them a try, they will never disappoint you and you will have a great time.
By the way, when you said about mainly hearing the backing track on the guy on the right (with red mic? - JHope), what you might be hearing was Jungkook doubling up an octave higher - they just didn't show him.
Also their Japanese single Film Out live performance just came out and it's a ballade with more high notes & harmonizing that might be interesting to you.
i recommend checking out their MTV unplugged performances they really good !! also their recent performance of “film out” as well as their recent “room live”
BTS songs are made in a collaboration fashion between them and their company’s in-house producers. Occasionally they get songs from outside producers but they always add their own flair to it.
Watch "FESTA 2021 BTS Live Room" to see a good sample of different songs from them. It's about a song per minute and then they change to another song. 😉
What I usually do as to not feel overwhelmed I listen to their songs 3 times. The first time, I just close my eyes and listen or watch (with mv) and vibe. The second time, I go into the lyrics specially the parts that needs translation. And the 3rd time, I combine 1 and 2. 😀
Army love them not only because their voices or dances. Way far more, we love their personality, hardworks, the story of BTS from 0 to ehat they are now. Many artists have voice better than them, dance better than them, but nothing compare to how they appreciate and communicate with army, how they show their unique personalities, etc. Im not good with words, i cant describe well how BTS change and fill armys world for 8 years and counting.
You're extremely pleasant to listen to. I've really enjoyed your reactions to the tiny desk concerts. And I got to talk to someone about larynx position that I've learned from the last video today and that was cool😆

The song was written predominantly by the leader rm (the one with the blue hair). The members are all very involved in the writing and production of their songs
Kia Ora. This is one of their most important works. When they are being critical of their government, institutions and matters of great importance, they'll often use metaphor and symbolism to get their message across. To criticize those in power has led to the demise of many artists and journalists. Although this song is about regret, sorrow and missing someone, it is linked to the Sewol Ferry Tragedy. The mishandling of the situation, the cover up and corruption. They are poets, storytellers and artisans. By the way, it gets easier and faster to read closed captions with practice.
RM, one of the rappers, says that he came up with the melody for this song while taking a stroll through the park 🥺 As one of their songwriters, he, as well as the other members, has contributed to the creation of music on every single one of their albums. He’s a lyrical genius and is honestly so smart, philosophical, and introspective as you can see with many of their lyrics-he’s only 25, but he’s been writing music like this for BTS since they debuted 8 years ago! Also, while we’re on the topic of BTS’ debut, they just celebrated the eight-year anniversary of their debut a few days ago (June 12th) and even held a week-and-a-half “festival” called Festa; it’s not really a festival like how you may think, it’s more like a yearly celebration ARMYs all over the world can enjoy leading up to BTS’ anniversary where the group releases a BUNCH of new content like never-before-seen footage, new music for free, and special events and activities for ARMYs to participate in with the members. One of the things they released this year was a performance called BTS Room Live which was a lax “sit down” performance, much like this Tiny Desk Concert, where they performed an 8-minute medley of various songs they have released over the years. I think you would really enjoy it because obviously they sang incredibly well, but also because you’ll get to see a small sample of the MANY different styles their discography covers, and you’ll get a little sneak peek at their personalities in the fun ways they interact with each other during the performance. So cute, and so fun 💜💜💜 I really hope you watch it! Here’s a link to it: th-cam.com/video/RRhjdYsNwAk/w-d-xo.html Happy listening! ARMY purples you 💜
You need to check their Room Live it is 10 min live medley, you again will be amazed with the variety of their music. They are amazing songwriters and producers in their own right

Please react to Your eyes tell live presentation. Could u talk about their voices and vocal range and singing technique please :)
that wasn't the track, that was the MAIN VOCALIST (purple mic) called JUNGKOOK, he is doing the those vocals to harmonize with Hobi
5:18 that wasn't the backing vocal of the track, it was another member (purple mic) harmonizing with him ☺️ they often do that combo in a few different songs as well, where they get a vocalist harmonize or do adlibs with a rapper.
Here they had jungkook (purple mic) harmonize with rapper jhope (red mic)
And when suga (black mic) started his verse right after, jimin (orange mic) did adlibs
A lovely reaction!
There is quite a difficult choreography for Spring Day
thank you so much for this nice video 💜 I love it and I start to learn so much things from you
They just released the first ever live performance of ‘Film Out’ - You should check it out 💜
Oh my I should check it out. Gosh I have to start teaching in 5.... darn it..... I shall take a look asap!
Second this ! New sub :)
This performance has a really special place in my heart, I hope you liked it 💜
React to Your Eyes Tell please, love ur reactions and how you enjoy with it
Waiting for her shock when she finds out they sing and dance at the same time
The biggest complement a person can have for these seven young men is showing that you enjoy the song and are left speechless during their performance.
MTV Unplugged next 😊 Telepathy, Blue & Grey, Fix You, here is the link for Spring Day explanation th-cam.com/video/Tye1ONFeKis/w-d-xo.html
Many Army believed it related to their National tragedy. You can watch this at your own. 😊 This song still in Melon Chart since it debut. Queen of all
There are a latest live performances from BTS such as BTS ROOM and film out live in CDTV. You can see their vocals are very amazing and very different with one another..
Their recent performance of film out live that why great
Enjoyed this thank you. I love this performance 😀
It is amazing right?
Really love your reaction video💜
Next - BTS Festa 2021 Room Live
Thank you so much for your reactions 🥰 and sadly they can't do concert with audience yet, they still do it but with online audiences
If you want another variety video, the the BTS Room Live #2021BTSFESTA video is great and chill, like this performance
Btw jhope (red mic) is a rapper and lead dancer and also is a sub-vocal, and jungkook (purple mic) is the main vocalist, also a sub-rapper. So both of em may often sing and rap at some part of some songs.
Spring Day will come!
Don't worry about not being able to read and listen and react at the same time. You'll learn. With time and regular exposure to Kpop, you'll learn. :)
Also, yes.
You. Should really see them dance with the songs❣️
You should watch 'BTS room live'
Life goes on!!!
By the way, when you said about mainly hearing the backing track on the guy on the right (with red mic? - JHope), what you might be hearing was Jungkook doubling up an octave higher - they just didn't show him.
BTS live room was an awesome medley they did for their anniversary that you might enjoy
I RECOMMEND FEASTA 2021 & SO WHAT LIVE PERFORMANCE ☺️
their MTV unplugged performances were amazing really recommend those
Watch "FESTA 2021 BTS Live Room" to see a good sample of different songs from them.
Loved your reaction! I hope you react to more BTS and if you do, I hope you enjoy it!! Thx!
Try to watch Festa bts room live, u would love it!
You can react to bts live room , I swear they are amazing.
Their CDTV Film Out performance is seriously beautiful, I really recommend it
Pls react to film out live.. Omg the vocalline soooo amaizing and jimin!!!
You're extremely pleasant to listen to. I've really enjoyed your reactions to the tiny desk concerts. And I got to talk to someone about larynx position that I've learned from the last video today and that was cool😆
You should react to crystal snow and house of cards by BTS live...vocally amazing and beautiful song!
I love their latest live performance of Film Out. Also, their cover of Fix You by Cold Play
Great reaction thanks
Hey, I’ve just joined “Army’.. and found your Reaction clips too . I have to say your comments and explanations are very clear, enjoyable for me to understand ( I live in Korea , and Even though I don’t need a vocal coach but If I needed, I would learn from you! ). You must be a very wonderful teacher!! Thanks for the videos!! You have a good vibe!!
We are lucky becoz we hav bts
Very nice reaction!
The song was written predominantly by the leader rm (the one with the blue hair). The members are all very involved in the writing and production of their songs
아름다운 밤이에요~
You should react to BTS ROOM LIVE they did it for festa!
Here’s a link to it: th-cam.com/video/RRhjdYsNwAk/w-d-xo.html
Happy listening! ARMY purples you 💜
