But when the Americans came in the 2000s they took over the old French base and developed it to what is today, it currently employs 1500 Djiboutians for nearly two decades the base contributed little to economics and the main purpose of the base is to attack terrorist and other things. when the Chinese came everybody thought it will be the same but over the years we have seen what they have contributed to the new railway between Ethiopia and Djibouti, a new bigger port but not that port these senators are talking about. There is now four ports in the country the latest one is the biggest built by the Chinese but why would they want a that port if they already built a port? Even the Japanese, Italians and Turkish are contributing. A few months ago the opening of the International Free Trade Zone that will employ more than 15,000 Djiboutians.
