3:25 what does he means by " If the united state doesn't take action in short order " are they going to seize a foreign port of a sovereign country for themselves as they did to Iraq oils fields ? or worst attempt a coup to overthrow a duly elected government of a sovereign country? and how come they are no listening to what their host is telling them and basically saying " yeah they will hand over to China" and who are they to decide what and how a foreign country should govern itself. they have been in this country for the last 15 years and not once they deemed necessary to build a road or invest beside paying a rent of 30 million USD per year (peanuts if you ask me ) while the Chinese have invested 4 billion dollars in the last 5 years transforming the economy onto the next Singapore of Africa. International laws and regulation are made to be respected I hope the Americain people will put a stop to this madness of destroying entire nations for so called "interest"

People laughed at me when told them that I'm going to visit DJIBOUTI but i had a good reason to do this because knowing whats being known to be SOMALIA is nearly DEAD🙌 for nearly three decades now... How DJIBOUTI is differ and afterall to see IF problems in SOMALIA AND DJIBOUTI have common DONOMINATOR? In other words WESTERN NATIONS know for sure that DJIBOUTIANS are ethnicaly SOMALIS and it was interesting to see if their political game over the horn is ALIGNED to the SOMALI ETHNIC ONLY or otherwise... I also wanted to see common living expenses and how common DJIBOUTIANS are doing afterall...what i saw there after some weeks of my stay was shocking and although a majure MAN🤔.. It nearly caused me tears to pour out from EYES... then.. I said to myself at end.. well.. this game over SOMALIS at the horn had started a way way back before 10_generations of SOMALIS were born and still goes as BUSINESS AS USUAL...why? Because if such DOOMED AND DAMN YOUR PEOPLE ARE THEN NOTHING SPECIAL HERE THAN TO SAY IT IS LIKE A NATURE TAKING ITS COURSE.. 😱

As a Djiboutian we see the risk and debt. But when the Americans came in the 2000s they took over the old French base and developed it to what is today, it currently employs 1500 Djiboutians for nearly two decades the base contributed little to economics and the main purpose of the base is to attack terrorist and other things. when the Chinese came everybody thought it will be the same but over the years we have seen what they have contributed to the new railway between Ethiopia and Djibouti, a new bigger port but not that port these senators are talking about. There is now four ports in the country the latest one is the biggest built by the Chinese but why would they want a that port if they already built a port? Even the Japanese, Italians and Turkish are contributing. A few months ago the opening of the International Free Trade Zone that will employ more than 15,000 Djiboutians. This is why the Americans are now trying to implement what the Chinese are doing.
Like the ambassador said we are building a better future for our coming generation.

The US owes so much money to China. Controlling this location doesn’t pay a fraction of what that amount is. As a matter of fact, the US controlling that “strategic” location has done absolutely nothing to even help with paying its debt to China. What Trump is doing is focusing on things going on inside America, because we see how being focused on the outside of the US has influenced our politicians(the Clinton’s). There’s so many things “wrong” going on with this desperate attempt for an argument. It really seems that The Washington post is willing to even use an African-American to try and reach/sway an Audience and their attention to their side of a political agenda. No offense to anybody of African-American background, not that I feel I have said something offensive but with everybody being so hyper sensitive about every little thing nowadays, you can never be sure how people are gonna respond.

If Ethiopia develops the river system that connects to Mogadishu they can have limitless access to the sea without road maintenance. Eriteria is highlands so its difficult to build roads and costly. The Somali cities of Berbera and Bosaso offer potential to move goods as well with Berbera being the shortest route. It's best to have multiple transit routes to multiply output capacity and cut down on delays and congestion as keeping cost low requires following a strict schedule.

Lease out land is actually a great option for weaker nations who needs development...
China was once very weak, poor. In the end Macau and Hong Kong was leased out.
Now those areas are well developed, brings in skilled workers, high quality university professionals... Great benefit for China in the end, also at the time 1980s when China was developing her economy, those area supplied skilled professional, factories, into China.
Same happens with Greece who leased out her x2 terminals of a port to China, that port advanced 50 places in world cargo turnover for Greece (that's income $) in 3 years time!
Same for East Europe Belarus of her own decision "invited" China in to develop her "prime land" leased out to China 90+yrs!
Sri Lanka, Pakistan did same when they have financial issues...
The government in Pakistan see this as an opportunity.
What West especially US say is bad, in fact can comes to a beneficial win-win for both parties, weaker and developing nations to develop, using the other's strengths and for the other China to expand economically and her BRI ...
Leasing land is NOT taking land just like Hong Kong, Macao was returned...
IMHO China will also honour her agreement with the same

Inflo and access of US army to supply weaponary to Africa countries. Divide & rule.
Should be happy to work with their Chinese counterpart.
China is here to foster African development. That vision is not seen with the Americans.

The ultra rich Arab emirs can teach Djibouti how not end up like venezuela or south sudan. The emirs are very clever at trade and politic that even American politicians cant weaken them. Learn from them. Do they choose to become the next south sudan and venezuela? Or ultra rich Dubai and Qatar? The richest cities on earth is not new york, paris or london but Abu Dabi. Look it up. Let me see if you can build modern and ultra rich cities with your oil like those emirati cities.
