Australia: Port Douglas to Cape Tribulation

  • Traveling Australia, Port Douglas to Cape Tribulation. If you're looking for a tropical getaway on your next vacation, checkout Queensland's far north coast! Situated on the fringe of the world's oldest rainforest. The Daintree stretches along a ribbon of coastline and white sandy beaches that kiss the Great Barrier Reef.
    Port Douglas is a small beach town with friendly locals, great accommodations, tasty eateries and fun shopping. The town is easy to walk with most of the food, shopping and several hotels situated around the main street, Macrossan. The main grocery store is Coles in the town center, a small Food Works is also nearby. Accommodations typically cost more in this popular vacation town, so it's a good idea to shop around online for cheaper deals. We like Agoda, Booking, Trip Advisor, and Wotif.
    Cape Tribulation is an awe-inspiring experience. Getting there is easy, from Port Douglas take the Cook Highway north and follow the signs to the Cape Tribulation ferry, it's $23 roundtrip. No need for a 4x4 if you stay on the main road. This region is truly where the Daintree rainforest meets the Great Barrier Reef. Explore the area by taking a bush walk (there are several great walk paths and boardwalks) or relax on the white sand beaches. Cape Tribulation has a handful of accommodations but a day trip from Port Douglas is a great option and we found a full day to be a good amount of time to see the sights.
    Thanks for watching!
    xoxo,
    Christine

    March 2020, right before the Covid Shut Down: We arrived from Sydney too late on Sunday 3/7 to enjoy the Port Douglas market so it was nice to get a feel for it from this couple's video. We stayed at the Thala Beach Resort close to Oak Beach. The resort was a luxury, relaxing amazing place. There is more flexibility with self drive, but we enjoyed our day trip to the Daintree, Cape Tribulation and Mossman . Our time in the area included one day at the Barrier Reef, one day in Port Douglas, a day just at the Resort and then boo hoo, back to Cairns to rejoin our cruise on 3/12/20. And on 3/13/20 everything hit the fan, -- our adventure was over or beginning!. We had to skip Darwin and speed to Freemantle for disembarkation and repatriation to the US from Perth. So glad we did this side trip to North Queensland. It was lovely.

    Nicest place on earth to holiday- always amazing heading up the top of Australia. beautiful climate, beautiful place , beautiful people & plenty to see. I liked Cape Tribulation, went to the beach during October, but I forgot it was stinger season, warned to keep out of water after end Sept. So I went in, luckily it was ok.
    You bet there are crocodiles hanging in there in the water, I saw a black tree snake hanging down over water in Daintree.
    Great Holiday Trip !

    Im travelling around Cairns at the moment been up a bit north as well just amazing lush environments up here only thing is the beaches are SOO much better down south in new south wales, because of the reef the beaches are quite flat with no waves but new south wales has some of the best surfing wave beaches.

    I would think a "vacation" would be just that. This isn't a humanitarian tour! Besides, what country doesn't have a problem with all those things, plus more?
    I appreciate that they are contributing to the economy and appreciate the "escape" that not all of us can have in our lives at this moment.

    I loved Cape Tribulation. Thought it was one of the most beautiful beaches I'd been too. Such a shame it's too dangerous to swim there! Gorgeous part of the world. You'll have to come back and do the outback and the West coast - down from Broome - you'd love it over there too.

    Even in a small town... not locking your doors nowadays is stupid. Just asking for trouble. Had our car broken into more than once as well... and I live in a regional town. Maybe 10 or 15 years ago - one might not have bothered locking your doors if you were just going out for a walk or something but that was then... this is now and even in a small-ish town, it's necessary to lock up, of course it is. Hilarious to hear your take on crime in a country you've never even been to.

  • @Jo.lawler
    @Jo.lawler 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Oh come on, it's not that bad, I live in the suburb that has the highest crime rate in Queensland and my life is still fine, it doesn't touch you if your sensible and don't go out looking for it.

    That's funny to read as an Aussie (even one who lives in a regional area - small town of 20,000) Like the 50s!?! You've gotta be joking! I'll be honest, yes, we do enjoy a lower crime rate than many western nations but those values & peace you speak of - you're obviously buying into the Oprah/tourism campaign version of Aus. We have gangs in our big cities just like other countries, one of the highest obesity rates in the world, same issues as you folks - so, like it was in the 50s? haha, no!
