I was just about to thank him for a well done video and learned in the comments of his passing. He was such a soft-spoken man who seemed to just instinctively possess patience and a knack for teaching. I'm sorry to hear of his passing.
OMG! This was my first time coming across a video of his tutorials and I was just about to subscribe when I saw your comment. So sorry to hear of his passing also. This video was very easy to follow.
O.M.G. !!!!!!!!!!! 😱 I just got done writing a big long letter asking for his advice on an electrical issue I am having !!! I really enjoyed this video more than the other one's I have watched and I too was going to subscribe to his channel until I saw your comment! My God I'm just floored to learn of this !!!!! 😱😢😔 Do you know what happened to him ??? I am so sorry for his family, my deepest sympathie's to them, may God give you peace during this most un'fortunate try'ing time, and help you find comfort, God rest his soul and make your presense fealt to these people and help them with whatever they need in Jesus's name I ask this! I am so sorry for your loss and I will pray for his family 😔
His channel was and still is very helpful to me in troubleshooting and repairing an electrical related problem. Reading his obituary, I didn't know he passed away in 2016 at the age of 38. My deepest sympathy to the Newberry family... RIP Robert William (Bill) Newberry.
Rest In Peace, Bill. 😢 My heartfelt condolences to your family and friends. I stumbled upon your good video, looking for help with my outlet that has no power. After watching the video, I have read the comments of your passing. Now my mood has entirely changed.
Very well done and a help. Thanks And knowing he has passed away, I'm thankful that in our day we have things like video to remember folks. And thankful for good people like him who used their talents to help others.
I feel so bad to learn that he died after watching the video. But it was so well done that I’m thinking he is still helping so many people after his death. I am going to try now and see if I can figure out what’s going on with my patio covered power outlet that is not producing any power. Thanks Bill.
Oh man, you stopped the video right when you were getting ready to explain about the wiring being bad! That's exactly what I was waiting to hear you talk about! You really do a good job explaining this stuff to some of us novice's out here! What's up man? My name is Mike and I live in St. Charles, Missouri, I live with my room mate in a doublewide mobile home that was manufactured back in 1993 when all they used were those stab in the back receptacle's, every one of them are the stab in type! About 2 month's ago we had a bit of a cool spell and my room mate plugged in her space heater and all the socket's in her room all the way to the living room stopped working, along with the ceiling fan, the porchlight outside of the main entrance and 5 more receptacle's in the living room! I figured the space heater probably couldn't handle the load, so I went to the breaker box to reset the circuit breaker, when I opened the door on the panel box all of the circuit breaker's were in the on position! I found the one that controls her bedroom and I manually turned it off then on again to try & reset it but nothing happened! I just decided to pull the breaker in question and ran up to my home depot to buy a new one, it is a double 15 amp and each switch can be turned off & on independant of each other. I installed the new one and, "wah lah", everything worked again and I was the hero !!! 3 night's later she went to bed and decided to read a book so she went to turn on a little led lamp beside her bed and all of the light's and receptacle's went out again, a little led lamp overloaded the brand new breaker I just replaced 3 day's earlier !!! I watched all the diy video's on "You Tube" and I heard nothing good about these back stab receptacle's and I intend to replace all of them soon just to save myself more headache's in the future! I seem to think that one of these receptacle's has probably got a short where the wire was stabbed in at and replacing the receptacle should solve the problem, the only thing is I don't know which one it is so I'm just gonna start replacing them all ! I watched your video and you seem very wise when it comes to this stuff and I would respect your advice with this issue! Would it be too much trouble to get your opinion on this please, I would greatly appreciate it my friend! What would you do in this situation ??? Thanks a million bro! ✌
@@sunshine3914 I know, I learned of his passing shortly after I left my post, that deeply saddened me! Out of all the video's I found on You Tube regarding my electrical issue his was the most informative and easy to understand and I was really looking forward to possibly starting a new friendship with him because somebody with his knowledge & know how is always an asset when you run into these type of problem's, plus he seemed to be very genuine and the type of guy who really would go out of his way to help other's. I never had the opportunity to chat with him un'fortunately and that's a shame, because good guy's like him are hard to find! You have my deepest sympathie's, may he rest in peace in the caring hand's of our lord Jesus Christ and may God bless his family!
Thank you Bill for all you contributed during your time on this earth. I've watched your videos hundreds of times over the years as I've tackled these projects. Condolences to the family.
I know am a bit too late. Just came across this video ,wasn't planning on watching electrical but decide to check it out, boy i tell you never thought you can bang on the wall for troubleshooting, you just school me. Thank you sir!
I love your videos. Because of your videos I have to depend less and less on my electrician. Which means more money back in my pocket. Also you help me get over the fear of electricity. Your videos are very instructional very informative very professional looking and easy to comprehend. Thank you again
Just read people's messages regarding Bill's passing and it is very sad to find this out that he is no longer with us! God bless you Bill and my sincere condolences to his loving family! My prayers will always be with him and his family!
This is a perfect video for someone just learning how to understand power and troubleshooting. I appreciate the post. Will be watching next video for what seems to be my issue.
I don't know if this will resolve the problem, but at least I now will be able to tell if it's the outlet or the breaker! My condolences to the family and friends....I hope it is a comfort to know that even now Bill is still helping people!
Good video, Good sound, a good stable camera! You also took your time explaining several possible problems, and how to resolve those problems. All it good!!
I appreciate the abundance of cautionary statements. I was helping a contractor move an outlet as part of a room remodel. I said I'd go flip the breaker and he said, "Nah, Don't bother. I like working with live wiring. It reminds me that I'm married to a Redhead!" Stay safe, Y'all!
lemme tell you something !😂i go to school for electricity && i learned more from you in this 10 min video first video then i do w my instructor for 4 hours every thursday
One of my outlets in my house didn't work today I guess my PS5 must have short-circuited so I watched his video and I got it back up but I didn't know he died now I feel bad. Wtf 😔
Extremely fascinating. Also yes don't touch the leads. I touched one of the prongs on my laptop charger while plugging it in and my arm tingled in a scary way. I've been careful ever since.
A plug tester. Praise the Lord and thank you I'm a new subscriber I can buy a plug tester instead of an electrician oh, at least for now you gave me hope.
I enjoy videos like this that give an opportunity to learn from a professional. That being said, I believe the term "electrocute" isn't being used properly here. There is a risk of getting "shocked," but electrocution is a term that means to be killed by electricity. If there's a risk of dying, I'd say we shouldn't be trying to use a TH-cam video for DIY advice.
It's part of the jargon like HIGH- VOLTAGE! when it's the amperage that kills, you much more so than the "voltage". A taser for example might be 50,000 volts but less than a milliamp.
This man he suppose to be a teacher ,some of them they are just explaining themselves how they know it but not for Teaching others but this man he explained to someone to understand it..👌
A great tutorial. One outlet on the wall outside of my house is powerless. So hopefully it is just a bad outlet. I am always scared of electricity, so I haven't opened it up and test with a voltage tester.
Eyetoobur if it’s outside of you’re house, the GFCI might be tripped. All that means is the button on the front of the outlet (like the ones in your kitchen or bathroom near the sink or shower) might need to be pushed to reset it. Hope this helps!
Great video just one troubleshooting tip to add, I hope it helps. When you do a voltage test with your meter you want to also check voltage between ground and neutral, if it's anything but 0 volts you have an issue as well
October 24th will be 3 years since Bill's passing. Eternal Rest Grant Unto Bill, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace!
Really helpful guide I have no experience with electricity, but with this guide and physics bases from school I was able to fix the issue with a bad socket that was shutting down the terminal.
Bill , My two bedrooms are on the same breaker no problems up to now . I came home from a weekend away and didnt have power in those rooms . I narrowed it down to a light switch , replaced it . Now I only have 110 on all the plug ins and no lights . you ever heard of this ?
I need tbe next video 😅😂😭 I have taught myself so much today and fixed/repaired/replaced so many things in my home... But the kitchen light has been completely uninstalled, live wires have been tested, breakers have been flipped ans tested ans still no power coming through. I was really hoping to be able to skip getting an electrician as I'm broke and HAVE to learn these skillsets. Thank you so much. Hopefully I can find your other video here in a sec and its something as simple as a fuse issue at the breaker box that I missed or something i havent tried yet or didnt do correctly. ( Also, maybe my balllast ISN'T out afterall. Either way, im upgrading to a new LED fixture when this all said and done lol)
Your video is excellent thank you. My question is if I am remodeling my bathroom and I am putting in a new niche but there is a wire right in the middle of it. How do I add more wire to go around the niche? Thank you
One step that I feel should be added at the beginning: Test whether the circuit that your “dead” outlet is on has a GFCI outlet that has popped and, if so, reset the GFCI and re-check if the “dead” outlet has power.

Well done and easy to follow. Subscribed. Thanks. Very helpful
One step that I feel should be added at the beginning: Test whether the circuit that your “dead” outlet is on has a GFCI outlet that has popped and, if so, reset the GFCI and re-check if the “dead” outlet has power.
Lol
Good catch.
Wow my condolences to his family 🙏
