Regarding brakes discussed at 4:40 in video. Replaced my master cylinder with Brembo 18-20 adjustable, Brembo leavers and brake lines with H.E.L. steel lines. Can confirm breaks are now AWESOME on my GSXR. Best brake setup for these bikes hands down. Problem is absolutely the master cylinder and lines setup.
It's certainly a handsome bike, my only gripe is that the OEM exhaust just looks so disproportionately small! I suppose you could get a larger aftermarket slip on. It's not a deal breaker, however I feel the Suzuki design team shouldn't have let it slip through.
I love mine black /w blue rims it does handle beautiful over imperfections in the road I like to put it in B mode in the city it makes the Clutch & Gears feel less Twitchy and yes it does need a fender to block dirt from the rear shock I'm looking into an after-market one
Got the 18 model ,black and blue rims too, picked it brand new in march for$ 11,488,!!price of a 600 hundred practically , they made a mistake, other one they had went back to $12988. The bike is amazing, but brakes have need addressed, sponged on me couple times
So I have 18,000 miles on my gsxr1000r 2018- and I have gone thru 6 sets of tires, hit a deer @100mph at 10k miles had to replace the radiator and oil cooler all the fairings and r11 can! (Which Yoshi refused to warrantee with there buy it once) I've added heated hand grips which I love! Both front fork seals have gone out- so I am going to have to rebuild the new fancy BFF forks.... Turns out they are delicate in the cold weather, I've also worn out the chain and sprockets and have swapped to the 520 chain which is far far better!!
+Icarus yeah but all the new GSXR are like this, it could be cheap fluids as others have mentioned they go off quick.. it needs some time to try and improve it, the longer I had the bike the less it troubles you, then you try something else and you think wow the brakes have a good feel on this!
Picked mine up one week ago; I’m absolutely in love. Quicker than my RSV4, and far more nimble to boot. Reminds me of my GSX-R750 a tad; it’s as if someone slapped the 750 in the face and gave it a shot of steroids and PCP right in the ass. The front brakes need help, and the blipper leaves something to be desired, but apart from that, I’m in love. Great video as always.
Great review once again sir Chops . Im sure you will have many people agree with you on the suzuki gearbox , they certainly know how to make a slick gearbox, be lucky 👍
Had all gsxr 1000s from k1 right up to k9 which was horrible then went to bmw 1000rrs and all tru this time i kept my k6 1000 it has 7k mikes and is fully sorted.ktech front n rear. Brembo. Full system power commander. Filter quick shifter. Flowed n ported head and it is better than anything iv owned ever.it will never leave my garage.😆😂😎
what is your k6 putting out power wise?? i have a k6 and im looking to get some light engine work done to release a few more ponys. im never selling mine either. in my eyes its the best bike out there :)
Have a real soft spot for the gsxr's but I miss the days of no electronics. My favourite bike is still the 99 SRAD gsxr 750, an RGV on steroids. There's nothing like a bit of head-shake and sideways on a bike (track of course).
your videos are unrivaled in visual and auditory quality and this one is stunning. Anyone who watches content on their smartphone will have appreciated the wide screen format of the intro if they have a newer flagship model. As for me I'm wondering if its' possible to shoot an entire motovlog/review such as this in 18.5:1 aspect ratio. This would accommodate 'ultra wide' monitors and 90% of modern flagship smartphone models (pretty much anything with infinity display and super thin bezels, S8/9, note 8/9, iphone and newer, all the top end lg's, huaweis, etc..)
Frank Malone yeah the engine sound is lovely but only if you do change it to arrow pro race titanium exhaust. Well I said this because I've tried it on my gixxer L7. Definitely, a lovely bike.
I have the 2016 GSX-R 1000, I've had about 8 months and it only had 1 mile, have over 1400 now, only issue with the bike is no gas gage, but not that big of a deal. Love the bike, beautiful machine.
It's funny; the wheelie control issue that everyone ripped the Honda apart for is apparently configured exactly the same way on the suzuki and yamha. Why was it that Honda got all the flack for it on the reviews??
That's the weird thing about no fuel gauges on most sports bikes. Back in the mid and late eighties they did have them.well the FZR and the CBR did.nice video by the way.
As usual another top review Chops. Nice riding too. Loved the shots of the forks working and the view of the road ahead while you were giving it the beans!
Great voice! John Rourke from Clear Skies (Eve Online machinima)? I'm considering a GSXR K5, but this RR seems like a great option, is the price difference worth it?
@@LambChopRides my K4 had awesome brakes. My K7 brakes were junk...braided lines, new fluid and EBC Extreme Pro pads fixed it just a little bit. Was never as powerful as the K4 though.
They used off the shelf Nissin master cylinder with Brembos and didn't match the flow. You'd be better off with the old Nissin calipers. You gotta put a Brembo master cylinder on it that matches the calipers.
Great work and a nice 2nd gear throttle wheelie, just rolling it back slowly. Much more power than the earlier versions of this Bike. This is before all the New parts you put on it, almost stalk, I'd think. Love this Bike in blue and your Right! Build the Bike to look like the GP Models !! Cheers Mate!! Another fantastic Review on this Masterpiece of a Bike
+Lou Satkauskas I've been informed it's to reduce weight. Without indicators they can run a low weight fairing stay on the cowl. Not sure how much added weight a couple of led add to an indicator but that's the official answer.
My gsxr front brake is the same way... I took it back to dealer several times.. before I realized all of the gsxr's was like that took a while to get use to it .. only way to get rid of it is buy a after market master cylinder... I guess they make it that way for newbies.. Lol
Gixxer L7 is a good bike but it needs some modifications on it in order to be a freaking awesome bike. Absolutely an amazing bike but only if you do some changes to the weak points on the bike.
Great Video Lamb Chop!!! There is something about the sound of a GSXR motor being wound up... that on coming Roar! Thats probably why I own a GSX-S1000 -- comfort for my old fart @ss with the beauty of that engine.. best of both worlds. Winter! End of riding Season - Noooooo!!!!
I got the 1000R model. It's nutty. Yes, Suzuki has always been known for issues with brakes. Try out the Launch Control. Get some video of it. Hahaha! Keep in mind, the launch control is on a timer. It's timed so people don't use it continually on the street.
That's fine looking bike Chops, great review fella. That massive exhaust is horrible and would be the first thing I would change. It's just getting more and more difficult to choose between so many amazing bikes. A great problem to have a guess, though like you I'm more a naked street fighter guy.
Think the rear hugger issue is bring overstated. First, stop riding through dirt bike shit. That it not what these bikes were made for. Second, all the bikes that have huggers still have linkage hanging below the swing arm or in the case of the ZX10, exposed inside the swing arm. Having a hugger that shields just the top of the shock doesn’t mean the rest of the suspension or bottom of shock is not also getting covered in crap. Don’t drive your bike and crap or if you have to give it a good cleaning when you’re done.
Although it's not strictly a sports bike, the Honda VFR 800 has had VVT since approx 2009 I think. Anyway, cracking video, as always, and that seems to be a cracking bike to boot. Shame I'll never be able to afford one! lol. RSM8, keep 'em coming
+Ian Collings thanks Ian, yes the VFR did but was talking more about out and out sportsbikes. Not sure how the Honda system worked but I'm sure it was a more complex arrangement.
It was and still is, and fair play, I knew it was proper sports bikes you meant mate. Love the vids, keep 'em coming, RSM8 and good luck with all future ventures, you deserve it!
I rode one and I could breathe on the front brake with one finger and it stopped on a dime.... so weird that it’s a polar opposite to your experience!!
Lamb Chop Rides Dealers bike... I actually came back after a hundred mile ride and commented to the dealer how great the brakes matched the beast of an engine.... so when you said how nothing happens for the first centimetre of travel that’s so different to my experience.... wonder if I got a goodun or you got a badun 😄

Lamb Chop Rides ...if I had it I'd probably keep it on my front room to look at all bloody day! when's the new work kicking in with the bike blogs ? you have the superduke still? I have to admit the zzr1400 is bloody comfy! z900 for me for now then will see what comes out!
+Ethan W going to be in the mag next month! They don't do many events in the winter so probably not going to see much pb stuff on the channel until next year 👍 have my own Duke now and very nice is it too 😎
I fuckin HATE what Suzuki did with the newer 1000 models from 2017-2019.. And Suzuki ONLY did this bs with the 1000's WTF!?!? 1.)Their wide, turn signal integrated, mirrors were EXTREMELY easy to see out of AND easy to adjust with a fingertip, but were sadly taken away for some painfully ignorant reason. Those mirrors were perfect!; they were like a 2-n-1 deal. 2.) The tail fairing from 2017-2019 suck too. The older 13'-16'models had the turn signals integrated with the brake light which made so much sense!!! But after 2017, they took that away too! WTF!!!.... 3.) 2015-16 models had SOOOOO many different fairing kits (including the commemorative edition!!)... but 2017-2019 models only have 3 limp ass colors, smh..Performance wise, no complaints ..But, otherwise they are uncustomizable , or it'll take ALOT more work than necessary to make it look remotely good...I'm so mad I bought a 2017 gsxr 1000#smh
If I was still young enough to do it justice I would have had one of these (my ninth GSX-R). But I'm not, so I haven't! :-( Another great vid, keep 'em coming. :-)
+Mick Garbutt it's bloody fast, I only opened it fully a couple of times and my God it's too much for the roads tbh.. can get you in trouble sooo quickly!!
And like any 1000cc sportsbike stock, theyve got more go than you'll ever need om the road. Is just a real shame that exhaust silencer is almost the size of a dustbin!
Around 12k these days for 2017 model...However powerslide Motorcycles in stoke on Trent are advertising a February deal 0% interest £99 deposit £157 a month. And that’s a brand new bike 2019... it’s pcp over 4 years but they didn’t mention what milage allowance per year. It’s tempting. You could probably go in with a bigger deposit and reduce the monthly payments
WTF!? in recent years sportbikes have made a concerted effort to come with huggers, which was a great trend... and now this? I dont get it. Oh suzuki how you hurt me.
A great review. I'm not with you on the overall looks, the front end hasn't looked good on the GSXR for years in my eyes. I'm very old school though. Love the looks of the of the MOTO GP bikes, I just think Suzuki and the cyclops look gives a " dumb" look. Take the mythical cyclops himself, a real dumb looking bastard! At least you can't see it when you're riding! Cheers Mick.
+Mick Sowden thanks Mick, I didn't like it at first but it's really grown on me. Much preferred to the older models now. Like the huge intakes looks mean Imo, but styling is always subjective. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say 😎😃

How would you compare this to the Kawasaki Zx10r 2018? I’m trying to decide which one to get
mate check your preload on the front fork, it seems dangerously close to bottoming out if a harder braking or bump happens

Nice one Chops, another top vid bud! Makes me want to get back on a Gixxer again.... hmmmm, we'll see ;-)
+teapotone cheers dude! Yeah it's very good just a couple of small issues and it would be perfect!
Just ridiculous thought that they STILL can't fix the front brakes issue?! It's been a problem for gixxers pretty much since they began!
+teapotone yes agreed... you would expect it to have the best brakes out there by now!
Easy, just need two bikes in the garage! I'm sure Nicky won't mind.

+Jay B yes indeed, hence why I said sports bike hehe 😂

+ninjanelly350 haha what I never went over 45...
The bloody Hyabusa had crap brakes as well. Suzuki haven’t sorted the issue. Why no steel lines on a bike like this as standard.
Mike Stewart Because that's not the problem. Do you remember any bike from the 2000 with braided lines? Hondas brakes awesome, not braided lines.
Vibration, heat, comfort?

When you have a minute can you comment about the TFT Vs other TFT’s you’ve seen/used?
+PistolPete63 it's a LCD on the GSXR, cheaper to produce and less bling than TFT but does the job very well 👍
Lamb Chop Rides thanks so much, I didn’t know that and explains why it didn’t appear as clear as say the R1.
What kind of gloves r u wearing?
+paxton they are RST Track Tech EVO Kangaroo 👍
how do you like it vs a 15+ s1000rr?
+Look At Me Luis been to long since I tried one... need to try another soon
Lamb Chop Rides please do lol
Seasons Greetings to you Sir & family, Might we see a McEnroe sweatband on the brake reservoir for finesse. Luv Ian XX
+Ian Lawrie haha same to you buddy! Christmas greatings 🎄
"MotoGP?" 😄 Fabulous bike, really enjoyed the video 👍
+boxertwin69 thanks matey
Hey man can you make cbr1000rr sp2 review video?
+Ngurah pratyusa no there are non available on the UK currently 😣
The front brakes could probably be bled more
If I was still young enough to do it justice I would have had one of these (my ninth GSX-R). But I'm not, so I haven't! :-(
Another great vid, keep 'em coming. :-)
Mick Garbutt There's always the gsxs
There is. Son-in-law has one and it's a fine bike but it doesn't have 200hp like the R.
I never rode a liter
+Mick Garbutt it's bloody fast, I only opened it fully a couple of times and my God it's too much for the roads tbh.. can get you in trouble sooo quickly!!
I can well imagine. I opted for a Super Duke GT and that's more than enough! :-o
These bikes sound so good stock.
And like any 1000cc sportsbike stock, theyve got more go than you'll ever need om the road.
Is just a real shame that exhaust silencer is almost the size of a dustbin!
Well maybe now that Suzuki did this colour scheme other companies will follow
I want that bike sadly I will never be able to afford it
Around 12k these days for 2017 model...However powerslide Motorcycles in stoke on Trent are advertising a February deal 0% interest £99 deposit £157 a month. And that’s a brand new bike 2019... it’s pcp over 4 years but they didn’t mention what milage allowance per year. It’s tempting. You could probably go in with a bigger deposit and reduce the monthly payments
Hey Lamb Chop, do you know what bff stands for, best friends forever ! 😁
'Balance Free Front' forks.
+Thomas Evers I thought it was Big Fat Farts!
I’m judgmental, and associate the GSXR with chavs riding in tracksuit bottoms.
Mfw when lamb chops is in Rowlands castle
+Louis Gordon haha well spotted 😎
I want that bike sadly I would never be able to afford it
i know the feeling Alphonso
@@tenminuteplease1330 dont live in america. would be 3 times that in the UK and i wouldnt want one on finance. i get ur point tho bro
WTF!? in recent years sportbikes have made a concerted effort to come with huggers, which was a great trend... and now this? I dont get it. Oh suzuki how you hurt me.
CPUspeed And on this model, there is no method to fit an aftermarket one either which is awful
Weight savings at the extreme.
First thing I’d do is change that disgusting exhaust
The stock exhaust looks so dumb.
fucking gorgeous
the place you are standing that wall...boy and girl kissing and a car hits them boy dies....just to inform you
"Not a big fan of sports bikes" bye lamb chops
mickeyfinn80 bye
Was kinda thinking the same thing.
that exhaust is a mammoth
should be reviewing grom's
2 years punishment... Left
looks like a K4 thats been melted
In other news, it is a fantastic functional headlight! It also looks really good on the R model with the additional LED markers.
👍🇹🇭🌍😎
