    UPDATE Notes: Thumb drive is the manual I imagine, forgot, you can easily get it online as well. The grey button on the top left is the traction control button. Hit it and the map light will flash indicating its in traction control, hit again and your back to normal. I had 50% battery left and it took about 2 hours 10 minutes to charge back to 100% on the provided 15amp charger. Very easy and simple to use.

    Just bought an EM Escape R for similar reasons that you wanted. I have a 450 and it is a pig. Way too heavy for the tighter technical trails that I love to ride. Can't wait for it to arrive.

      You will love it in the hairy stuff. There is no safer more competent way to crawl up thru the nasty. The only thing is you have to understand is it's not for running 35mph down 10 miles of fire roads to then ride the good stuff. We're off to moab in a month and i'm bummed i won't have her for the hell trails as we have limited bike space so i bought a Beta xtrainer 300 to deal with the longer trails and stay with the ktm300s. I really wanted the Escape to take me safely thru the sketchy stuff. The Beta is about as close to the EME as i could find. Next trip i will bring everything. Enjoy! th-cam.com/video/4iAMkiVHIEc/w-d-xo.html

      @@wetlifesports Just about everything I ride is under 25 mph. At least 90%. I have a 450 and the fastest I've ever gone on it in the trails is 35 mph. I do have it road legal so when I did get on the road I'd get up to about 40 - 45 mph. But I won't need to really take the EM on the road, because I'll be able to stick to the woods more because it is so light and nimble I can stick to the really gnarly stuff instead of cheating on the road. The 450 was just unmanageable in some areas, so I"d pop on the road to get to the next trail. With the EM, I don't need to. Can't wait to ride it.

    Glad you like it, as they are drawing a lot of interest from anyone who can afford the $$$. I'll be curious to hear your review after the newness factor wears off.

      Still in love, its actually my favorite motorcycle ever. I love recon exploring and going where no one has gone and love the woods, trail blazing. I love the challenge of technical trails and the physical workout. Sitting on a bike pounding out miles is boring to me. Did it, done it. Its more of a workout and challenge to figure out what approach your gonna take to get past 50 logs, trees, and up monster rocks to get to the top of the ridge. Its expensive but what isn't that is quality and fun. It seems pretty hearty thus far. Pretty simple as well. It's taken a beating pretty well to date. I have my fingers crossed that it keeps delivering as the support is kinda weak. So far the distributor is weak and they really don't have the parts replacement dialed in. Your somewhat on your own. But many bikes can be like that today. You gotta be a diy guy and i am. Your not going to easily drop it off and get it fixed and pick it up in a few days.. Worth it all day long to me. I wouldn't trade anyone for a brand new ktm300 for it. I love the quiet bulldozer that it is. I get into places i would never get with a conventional bike, noise wise and just subtle non threatening wise. Go for it, i think you'll never go back.

    5/16/22 UPDATE: The battery gauge did have an issue and they sent me a new one no problem. It works good now and I have links to replacement video in decription.

    Hello. If you pull the left side lever (regen), does it kill the throttle? Like what would happen if you're on the throttle and pulling the regen lever? Does it immediately kill the power as soon as you pull it, or is it gradual like the braking effect is? Thanks.

    • @wetlifesports
      @wetlifesports  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Kills it immediately. On one hand if your fenessing around a tight spot it can cause you to forget you can't add throttle and push forward. It's something you learn and adapt to quickly so if i want both throttle and brake at the same time I remember to not use the regen/brake, i use the rear pedal or front brake. On the other hand it does act like a clutch a bit in that once you pull the left and kill the motor, you can open the throttle and then pop the lever like you would a clutch and it does kick in harder to match the throttle position your at. I find it pretty brilliant and with a tiny bit of getting use to, like anything, it is awesome and well done. I don't find myself missing the clutch. If your really a "trials" person, you may want a clutch. I'm happy to be rid of clutches. I think the future will have fewer clutches. It is way better without it. I ride a yz450 on the track and i wish was electric with no clutch. One less thing to think about and that freed up thought can keep me safer on the jumps, etc.

      @@wetlifesports thanks for the reply. Yea, that's how I was hoping it would react. I was also thinking that could be useful in a whiskey throttle situation.

    Just curious why you didn't consider the KTM Free Ride e. I've ridden the EM escape and the Free Ride.

    • @wetlifesports
      @wetlifesports  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Great question. I studied it hard and that seemed like an interesting option. My final decision was weight, bulk and battery range. I started to really appreciate less weight and a nimble machine. I switched from a yz250f to a yz450f and didnt care for the added weight. I ride a wr250r and wish it was 50lbs++ lighter. The Freeride is a bit of a pig weight wise. Again, it all depends on what your goal is. I get really turned on trail blazing and strategically figuring my way thru the super tight hairy stuff. For example, this week I just rode the Hatfield McCoy's Buffalo mountain single tracks and this bike was AMAZING! Nothing else on the planet would have covered my ass more. I am now in upstate NY trail blazing tight woods and hairy climbs and decents, logs.. and it blows my mind what I got thru. On the Hatfield 's I got stuck in a nasty climb and slid down the slope a bit and was able to control my 183lbs and turn her around and get safe. The freeride in this case would have been ugly to lift. I worked the EME over 18" logs that were 4' in the air. Literally inching the bike along the log with the bars well above my head and then launched it off the log the get to the other side. Nothing else would have gotten me thru. This thing is a mountain goat god! Once you try it in the tight hairy stuff you'll see. Your buddies with other bike will be stuck and you'll be pulling on their fork straps helping them out. The reality of the battery in this hairy single track is that your regular bike buddies bodies will be shot humping their bikes well before your battery is out. I cant say enough. This thing is freaky good!

    Are the power output specs different from the regular vs R version?

    • @wetlifesports

      No, the same.

    • @wetlifesports
      @wetlifesports  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Imo, ill bet you get more range without the clutch. The clutch has to waste some juice. I didn't want a clutch because I was all about tight technical trails and i dont need it ever, she pulls up as needed. Less to think about, less to wear, break, no wasted juice.

  • @DetroitMicroSound
    @DetroitMicroSound 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How did the price of yours, compare to the R?

    • @wetlifesports
      @wetlifesports  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The R seems to be $1000-$1200 more. I had little interest in the clutch. To me alot of the beauty of electric is no clutch, no gears. My left hand is damaged so it gets tired with clutches. The bike is perfect and I love the left-hand brake/regen. I think it adds range and great control. I wanted this for tech trail exploration and wanted as much range as possible. The beauty of climbing up a tough grade with no gears or clutch is awesome. You can easily lift the front wheel when needed, its only 183lbs and I only ever use green mode. The higher modes will lift it even easier. GL enjoy!
