I love torterra! I have been running maximum belt over heros cape to 1 hit some of the EXs in the format. It has gotten me some great results winning a locals and placing top 4 in an online tournament!
For back up attacker I use the torterra from the same set as the grotle, for 2 energy you do 50x the amount of evolution pokemon you have in play, so up to 300. Gets around mimikyu. Other additions I use are the toedscruel that prevents cards form teh discard to go to the hand, which is better than the ex against shienpao or pokestop. So 2 toedscool with 1 toedscruel single prizer and one ex. Rellor rabsca against bench damage is also nice. I have more pokemon than trainer cards, with the idea that my grotles are my trainers, as in they can search out the abilities I need per matchup in stead of using trainers for that. But I like the radiant venusaur in your list, had not considered that before.
Oh yeah I forgot about the other toedscruel, it would actually be really good against Cpao. I dunno how it affects your prize trade in the long run tho. And about the Evo press Torterra, often the 2 energy was a little awkward to commit. Needing the bench to be evolved was a little hard to do too. Thanks for the feedback tho!
