I have been riding this bike for about 14-15 months now, through both winters and it is still going great and still in great condition. I still am using the stock tyres, they have not killed me yet :) I think they are fine in the wet under normal riding conditions, just keep your distance from traffic because it might be different in an emergency stop situation (I've slid the rear a few times). I think this bike is very well built, the controls do not seem super cheap to me, I am happy with them, I'm sure some more premium bikes might feel better but there is nothing wrong with them. I believe they are cheap due to mass production in huge Chinese factories, not because of materials and poor quality. The only downside to these (at least in the UK) is that parts are hard to come by because they are not a hugely well known/popular bike in the UK, witch is a massive shame as these bikes are awesome. They are also better equipped than some more expensive 125's, the awesome suspension (including upside down forks), great dash with fuel gauge and gear indicator, switchable lights and flasher that some others do not/did not have, they also look much better. I would like to see you do another review of the 2017 MY Keeway RKV 125 as it now has fuel injection too, I missed out by a few months, mine is carburetor and I have had none of those start up issues, unless I forget the choke on cold days.
jackvincent90 as you know, I won't be riding mine for a while. I might just sell it and buy my next bike when I'm fit enough to get on a bike again. You'll love it, great bike 👍
Even the honda msx [grom] has that issue with the stock tires .... good in dry road conditions but not so good is wet and/or cold condition . Then the fronts want to leave when you go a bit to strong in the corners . Thats why I changed them to michelins city grips . I think its a typical with the 125 class . They are mostly ment for people that want to drive in the weekends when its warm and dry outside . Keep it up ;] and greetings from belgium
Looks like the tire problem is with all 125cc bikes. One of the first things to go on my Yamaha Tricity were those plastic stock tires. They were not even that bad, but in the rain the rear tire felt really fluffy and weird.
Before i bought the KTM duke, i consider to buy this bike.. I changed my mind because a couple of things, first i think it's hard to find material for her, second i thougth that because it's a cheap bike, the engine will not live long like honda and other big brands. Third i will have to change the tires. So i speend a little more money and i bought a second hand Duke.
+FFA nonsense! why do you have to change tires? i proved that wrong when i toured around my country back december 2013. Got it all, except snow. Those Cordial tires are well capable to ride any condition, even on dirt roads, i've done it!
Ive got this motorcycle, runs fine once its warmed up. put the choke on for around 30-40 secs and then warm it up using the throttle for about 2 mins. Pisstake in the cold/rainy mornings but once shes up and going nothing to complain about :)
Great vid Cager! Loved my KeeWay. It required work, but I enjoyed it. The front light on my SYM does the same crazy thing. Only one filament of the bulb is used.
I bought this bike brand new, 2014 plate in black, it was fan until it all turned upside down. I used the bike for commuting from and into work, no long distances, approx 12-13 miles/day, Monday- Friday, until one day the chain slipped off the back sprocket while going uphill at like 25 MPH and snapped the gear indicator cable, went to a dealer who does Keeway in Newport and got pretty much slapped in the face with a £220 bill for a new sprocket+chain, gear indicator cable and labor of £40. next thing was after parking the bike overnight on the side stand the bike would leak oil...after some inspection I realized that the side where the generator is located their was a piece of gasket hanging out, so I went online to find a gasket for it but guess what?? could not find any and ended up calling the a**hole of a dealer who sold me the bike to be told that I had to contact MotoGB to order one. one tiny piece of gasket costed me around £35 with the shipping and took over a week, and the gasket itself looked so cheap I which I made one myself, and then after fixing the gasket leak, and when the weather started getting colder down here the bike would struggle to idle early in the mornings or would completely cut out mid-ride especially at traffic lights or sudden stops even when using the clutch prior to easing the throttle and always made me look like an idiot at traffic lights cause it would not start straight away....I did an oil change even though it did not need one, changed the oil filter, cleaned the fuel tank, changed the fuel filter as well as getting a new spark plug all as recommended from the manufacturer,,,money money money going down the drains, rust was also a problem even though the bike was kept in a dry place and cleaned every weekend to keep it tidy but the circle around fuel tank got rusty, the bits around the handle bars and forks, underneath the rear wheel and bellow the two passenger grips...etc the bike did not even get to it's first MOT which means passed its first 3 years before it looked like a cheap ass piece of junk worth £200 pound which is what I could sell it for from £1500 which I've paid for the bike when I got it, it costed me so much to keep it running and caused me so many problems that I ended up hating myself sometimes for giving a Chinese bike a chance!! now I got myself a 2012 Honda PCX that does around 130 MPG, would start first time after weeks parked, does not need a lot of maintenance to keep on top of it, and more importantly!! parts are available all over the internet at an affordable price! and I'm pretty sure the bike will hold it's value when I decide to sell it if I even think about it cause now I don't think I can find anything better for a daily commuter!
Ok. Thought about buying it, but as I'm 182 with long legs, its for sure too small. As many asian bikes. Sad, because it looks fine (for the price). Thanks for your great check and great (honest) video
+Cazzeggio' Show I have the Duke 200 and can't seem to stop smiling when i ride it. I think you'll get the same feel on the 125. I don't know exactly what it is, but it just gives you confidence while riding it. That way you can focus on enjoying it and not on not crashing. A thing of note though, because the brakes are godly good and the tires not so much, you can easily lock the front wheel when braking in slow speeds because there is not enough load on the front wheel to keep it from locking. This will not happen in high speed braking if you apply the brake progressively. That's why i would recommend ABS. Mine doesn't have it and i would love to have it.
MrMellogame13 Well, last time i checked honda site was down, but now is back online again, so see for yourself. I have to wait until spring here, there are no conditions for ride in winter.
I am riding a 2011 RKV and even though I am a unexperienced rider I noticed what you described when cornering it. My bike doesn't stall and it starts up perfectly even in the cold. I rarely have to use the choke. As for the tyres I luckily got the bike with continental contitwist but I already got in some scary situations with rear wheel locking or skididng while cornering (luckily with no consequences). The handlebar situation is not an issue for me either (i never got to the point where it touches my legs) so problably I was lucky with the bike I got. As for fuel consumption I am averaging 3.2 L/100km. I am using fuelly so you can see the mpg here: www.fuelly.com/motorcycle/keeway/rkv_125/2011/jpcs5917/703847 Overall I think it is a awesome bike for the price but time will tell if the reliability concerns will justify choosing it.
Look after it and it will be fine, I've had mine 14-15 months and it's pretty much like new and I ride through winter. Parts can be a pain to get in the UK because they are not so well known, but it is possible to get most stuff, if you have any issue email Keeway and they will help.
Wow man, you must have balls of steel riding in those conditions and in that traffic on those tires! I felt nervous just watching.
Hey mate brilliant review. looking as this for my first bike. Liked the way you were a bit funny with it too "sucky sucky tyres".

i don't know if they sell this brand Bajaj where you live, but would be awesome if you do a review of the Pulsar 200NS, or the 200 RS, or even 135 LS
Check out Halfdead Rider on here, he has got a Keeway RVK125. Looks to be doing him well
