Meaily Joon Armys try not to use the unicorn emoji because it’s too close to the horse emoji and Hobi doesn’t like that nickname. Squirrel is the safest one and the most widely used.

jimin-shi basically means “mr“ jimin like there is no direct translation but using shi with names is a formal way of addressing someone you’re usually not close with and between jimin and jk it’s just a fun little nickname they teasingly call each other sometimes hehe

I’m pretty sure JK only calls Jimin as Jimin ssi- 😂 I haven’t heard him calling other members like that. Jimin always finds it funny. I think that’s why JK loves calling him that. Plus the way JK says it makes it even funnier 🤣
Yeah, I think JK dares not call the other hyungs this lol. I have not heard him say it to others either. Jimin just laughs and allows it and the others seem to find it funny too lol. I like it when he shouts it like for no reason. That boy makes me laugh.
It's funnier because he says it with a strong Busan dialect accent. It's their inside joke as they are both from Busan.

Jimin-ssi basically means Mr. Jimin, the “ssi” is usually added to people’s names in Korea for when you’re not familiar or fully friends with the person, so it’s a respectful way of addressing them. Sometimes it’s used in a flirty or playful manner though.
In the fandom Jungkook’s lovingly referred to as a bunny & even his emoji is a bunny bc he resembles one so much ☺️

I hope he reacts more to the hyung line. I'm kinda sad he only does more things about the maknae line. I love them with all my heart, but the hyung line doesn't seem to get to get as much love. (In terms of fan made videos and reactions etc.)
Edit: By the way I absolutely adore the maknae line. And I am OT7 I just want to see more of the hyung line too besides their solo songs, introduction videos and habits videos. Since I love them all so much, I want them to get equal attention.🤗

When you call someone in polite/formal way, for showing respect, or to call someone who you know but aren't close enough with you... you can add "-ssi" after their name... You can attach it after full name or if you more familiar with them just simply attach it after their first name...
Like Jimin-ssi, Namjoon-ssi, Seokjin-ssi... Jeon Jungkook -ssi... Min Yoongi -ssi... Kim Taehyung -ssi... Jung Hoseok -ssi...
Basically it is a Korean honorific just like miss, Mrs, and Mister...

In Korean culture, jk is suppose to call Jimin “Hyung” which means older brother. calling someone xx Ssi is a formal and polite way to address them, usually you use this term when you dint know someone so well or in a formal occasion. Like I’ll be calling you DTssi, kinda like addressing you as Mr.DT.
Yes. I remember watching a video that Jimin complained that JK doesn’t call him Hyung even if he’s older than him. But I think this is JK’s way of teasing him and because they are that close and comfortable with each other, Jimin let’s it slide and becomes more of their inside joke.
Everybody missed the main comedy factor about Jungkook calling Jimin Jimin-sshi. It's true that it's a formal address like Mr but older people use it to address younger ones. Coming from a younger one it is actually quite rude, that's why they are always laughing about it. It shows how close they are to each other, that JK can get away with calling him Jimin-sshi without being scolded. (Explained a while ago on twitter by @JL_Kdiamond who is Korean)

Jungkook often uses NO honorifics with Jimin but at some point he started to use the formal -ssi to tease Jimin as well. There is this one video where JM just breaks out in giggles over Jungkook calling him like that over and over because it’s needlessly formal (when compared to how he calls the other memebers -hyung) and it became a thing forever more after that. He also does it in a goofy voice with further confuses Jimin 😁

The Jimin-ssi thing is hella cute because when JK says it 99% of the time he is whining with it. It reminds me of when little kids in America call adults Mr. (add first name) like, Mr. Robert or Ms. Sarah, etc. You hear that a lot with kids and their teachers. It’s respectful but still playful and fun at the same time.
I know it’s not a direct correlation to Korean honorifics, but the way JK uses it teasingly reminds me of that same energy.

9:00 attaching “-ssi” next to a name is similar to the word “mr.” in english. it’s usually used to address someone in a formal setting or simply people who are respected. basically jungkook calls jimin “mr. jimin” as a joke since they are close and no “high respect” is actually needed 😂

so yeah the "-shi" is like "mr." but its the playfull tone that JK uses that always has Jimin cracking up, like it became their own little thing its super cute, and no, no other member call him like that or use the "-shi" stuff added, I think it all started during LY: Tear era :) the fans loved it also so it just became their thing
I'm not surprised he is comfortable around cameras, he has had almost every aspect of his life filmed for half his lifetime. I tend to do the zoning out/staring into space thing too when I'm thinking. He's adorable.

the jimin-ssi like many have said doesn't have a direct to english translation but its like he is calling him "Mr Jimin". He used it in a humours teasing way towards Jimin and can be used in a flirty manner too. Its like when they were face timing each other in the same room back in 2018 and was posting on twitter and k-army were translating the context of it and they were saying the captions they were using was as if you were dating the CEO of your company you'd be using formal language but in like a flirty tone. Like "Mr CEO'.

There's some adorable compilations of younger members calling older members "hyung" or "hyungie;" Suga whining for "Jin-hyung" and "hyungie" has to be the cutest. As others have said before, "ssi" can turn his name essentially into Mr. Jimin, but with the specific Busan accent he likes to add to it, it gives it a specific sound that has become something the other members like to replicate and tease Jimin with. All the different nicknames and terms of endearment the members give to each other is adorable. Jimin has been called "baby" by pretty much everyone, Tae has a ridiculous number of V related nicknames courtesy of Jin, RM has been "moni" and "namu" and a few others (he and jimin are called/have called themselves "minimoni') on and on.

It's simply means "Mister Jimin", which is overly formal considering how important honorifics are in their cultur, he could easily call him 'hyung' but when using 'ssi' it sounds more fun and i guess its some sort of inside joke between the two, we can also witness jungkook completely dropping honorifics with jimin and calling him 'jimin-ah' and it can be seen as rude to some korean people unless they'r very close.

In "Jimin ssi(지민 씨)" the ssi(씨) part means something like Mr. and is used to reefer to a person that you just meet (and don't now if its older or younger). It's a polite way to address someone.
Jungkook loves teasing Jimin, they are so close that the way to reefer to the older members are by "Hyung(형)" that can be translated as "older brother". Jk usually tease Jimin by don't using the Hyung part bc Jimin is smaller (in height)
and in addition he start calling Jimin in a weird way, "Jimin ssi(지민 씨)", that make Jimin uncomfortable xD

I watched a video by a Korean say usually Korean people say this in a formal way but it can also be used by people that are close like calling your friend mate or pal. I think when Jungkook calls Jimin Jimin ssi it is because they are close. The other members call him Jimin ah or Jiminie. Jungkook is the only one to call him in that way, Thanks for the video 👏💜
