They call Kiryu Mecha-Dagon because kiryu is made from Dagon(the Godzilla before legendary G), kiryu is made from dagon’s dense skeletal structure, therefore it is sometimes called mecha-dagon

Which also shows that they would be a great story writer that isn’t limited to keeping all that characters alive, but instead has them killed off to show that Destoroyah, SpaceGodzilla, and Gigan are real threats to scared of

The story is dagon was fighting the muto prime but lost because he was not as strong of a Godzilla he was a Godzilla cousin so he remembers being killed by the prime a little revenge for him

Explanation: kiryu is made out of the skeletal remains of dagon, father of godzilla. The flashback is reminding dagon in kiryu that gigan is muto prime so, he finished him of goodbye.
kiryu is controlled with the skull of muto prime which is what that flashback was
no? that flashback was because kiryu is made from the exoskeleton of the godzilla that was killed by muto prime in the past where muto injected larva into him
and mecha gigan is made from muto prime exoskeleton so that flashback was basically a revenge for kiryu
