    *Chess Answer :*
    N4xf6#
    *Explanation :*
    'N' is for the knight.
    We can't use 'e' because knight on e8 is also there.
    '4' is where the rank of the knight is.
    'x' is for the capture symbol.
    'f6' is the place where the knight's destination.
    '#' is for the checkmate symbol.
    Hope it helps! 😀

    N4xf6#
    Explanation:
    - There are two knights on the same file so we should define this one by rank.
    - Since it’s a capture we have to add ‘x’
    - We shall mention the destiny square as well which is ‘f6’
    - Now at the end, we should also add the ‘#’ since it’s a checkmate

This is a very well produced video except for all the activity that would distract 2nd grade students. If you can fix that aspect it would be very useful in the classroom setting.

    9:50 That puzzle is wrong... the black king is on the first rank, where the the white pieces are at the start of the game. Therefore its not a checkmate as the pawn can move forward and block the check.

    Hello Mr Advani,
    My name is Rohit Taneja and I have a son, Vivaan, who is 6.
    During the lockdown period my son has become a grandmaster because of you.
    Day one of the lockdown and he learned the names and rules and had no interest. Ofcourse I mentored him for good 2 1/2 weeks and he lost all the matches he played with me and computer.
    Once he started looking at your videos and tricks, after 65 days at home, he defeated me in 4 consecutive games.
    Thank you very much for showing / making way for a new grandmaster.
    If my son makes it anywhere big in life, the credit will surely be on your shoulders.

    Recap: each row is called by a number and each column is called by a letter,example: a1. Each piece is represented by a letter:
    Bishop=B
    King=K
    Queen=Q
    Knight=N
    Pawn has none though
    Rook=R
    For example if a Rook moves to f4 the move is called Rf4,if we captured a chess piece then we add a x in between. For example if a rook on f4 captures a pawn on F8 its called "Rxf8" but if a black pawn on D4 captured a white pawn on E5 then its called "Dxe5"

    Loved the Qh4xe1#. I had never come across such a situation previously so I learnt something new there. Also in en passant, I think I have seen 'en.' or something used just before the algebraic notation. Can you clarify this please? Another doubt there was the thing about the destination square. Got it clarified thanks to this concise video as well.
    I actually found this video while searching for the answer for the following question (I'm glad I didn't skip this video because I knew notation (mostly it seems) - as the notation I just mentioned which appeared on the thumbnail intrigued me - and was searching for annotation):
    How do you annotate a zugzwang? I found the symbol: do you put it after the forcing move the player compels the opponent to play or after the move the opponent is forced to play?
    By the way, the answer is N4xf6#.
    Also, I have another question from this lesson. I can't think of a possible position right now: is there actually a rule as to a priority, i.e. to check the file first, and rank afterwards or did you say it for the sake of explanation in this video? Thanks.
    I had assumed the possibility of same-colour-squared bishops due to pawn promotion. It seems their movement can also be notated similarly to the queens'.

    • @aryski21
      @aryski21 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bit late, but there is no 'en' when annotating en passant. There is also no notation for Zugzwang, that's just a concept not really a move. Generally, you'd check the file, then the rank.

    ANSWER:
    N4xf6#
    EXPLANATION:
    N is followed by knight
    We cannot use e for file because two knights are in same file so we use 4 for the knight on 4th rank
    x is followed by caputuring the pawn
    f6 is followed by knight moved to this square
    # is followed by checkmate

  • @sahilchavan5173
    @sahilchavan5173 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    The whole video in one text and summary.
    Each column is called a File
    Each row is called a rank .
    Each column is named from A to H from left to right
    Each row is numbered from 1 to 8 from bottom to top
    A square on the chess board is named after pairing the coordinates of file and rank like A3 or F8 or H1
    So while recording a piece’s place we will be using a piece’s initials to mark it out the place of that piece -
    - King ( K )
    - Queen ( Q )
    - Bishop ( B )
    - Rook ( R )
    - Knight ( N )
    - And we do not use any specific initial to cross out the position of Pawn
    We never mark the beginning places of the pieces at first , we only note down the piece’s place after it has made a move . For example if our first Knight moves to F3 (which means it was on g1) so we write its a Nf3 .
    To remember a piece’s initial is written on uppercase and the place is written by lowercase .
    But what if our pawn moves to a3 or a4 ? We simply write a3 or a4 coz we do not put any initial on the pawn .
    For every couple of moves starting from whites move and black’s move, we write
    1. Nf3 d5
    2. Nc3 Bf5
    3. e3 Nc6 By doing this
    4.
    By doing this we are writing the white’s move first and then black’s counter move later.
    If a bishop captures a knight on c6 so we write Bxc6 which means a bishop captures a piece on c6, but if a pawn captures a Knight on e3 we will write fxe3 , where f indicates its file and x represent the capture and rest indicates its current position.
    If there is a pawn promotion lets say a pawn reaches b1 and becomes a queen we will write it as b1 = Q , and if a pawn takes out a knight and reaches b1 and becomes a queen then we will write it as bxa1 = Q .
    Now if a rook reaches e8 and puts a check on the king we will write it as Re8+ but if a queen captures a pawn and checks the King then we write it as Qxf5+ .
    If a rook captures a knight and gives a checkmate then we write it as Rxe4#
    If there is a position where two identical pieces can match onto a similar position for example like two Knights on Nc3 and Ng5 both can come onto e4 therefore to remove the ambiguity we can do like Nce4 where c stands for the previous file the Knight was on ,
    Another example of this would be assuming two rooks on a3 and a8 wanting to kill a pawn on a6 , the capture could not be noted using the file therefore we can note it if the a3 Rook captures the pawn on a6 as R3xa6 where the 3 stands for the Rank of the board .
    Therefore if two or more pieces can come on the same position we can first check the file (if they are diff.) and then the rank (if file is common) or use both (if still not identifiable which is rare case , in case of multiple pawn promotion and having queens on board)
    Please like this comment to motivate me to always the summarise the videos in text content for people who want to save time , also add your knowledge below this text or adding onto some other rules , like what is En passant or what is castling instead of thanking me or blessing my parents , lets use this comment as a beginner friendly comment .
    If the creator pins this video or likes this then I would be more than happy.
    Feel free to copy and share this on various platforms.
    Happy Chess playing.

    I had to search and come to this video, since I was missing the notation when two or more pieces are in the same rank/file. Something I am still missing is what is the meaning of three dots and why we use it. I saw a T-shirt with: 1...,d4 Now 1 means it's the first move of white to the d4 square if I understand right. But why three dots? What is the difference to the --> 1. d4 ?

      I think you didnt finish the video but i think it would be written as b6xc5 even if you dont use the extra number indicating the rank/row you can deduce its a pawn or a bishop using only the first letter if it were a bishop it would be a capital B (Bxc5) if not then its a pawn

    N4xf6#
    Because
    (N) for knight
    (4) because on e8 there is one more knight
    (X) because knight on e4 capture f6 piece
    (F6) because knights move on f6 square
    (#) because it a checkmate
    I thinks it help you 😁😁😁

    Chess Answer:
    N4xf6#
    Explanation:
    N for the knight
    We cannot write Nxf6# because another knight is in e8
    We can use e4 because the knight is in e4
    'x' for the capture
    'f6' the knight destination square
    # means checkmate

  • @studywithvarun730
    @studywithvarun730 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    N - Knight
    4 - Rank
    x - Capture
    f - Destination file
    6 - Destination rank
    # - Checkmate

  • @AdithyaB12
    @AdithyaB12 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's not a checkmate yet
    The pawn can just promote to another piece because it is on the 2nd rank and its black
    So the # will be a+

  • @shouryadeep_
