Jordan I have to say I just started this budgeting process all because of your videos. I stumbled on your channel and I swear you were an answered prayer. The detail you put into your budget and explanation seriously helped me. I've gone though and watch ALL of your budget videos and have literally taken notes hahaha. I can't afford to purchase anything yet from your shop but it is in the budget 😄 and I am super stoked. So thabk you for your honesty. It seriously helped me!
I can tell you that my daughter moved across country thinking it was best for her and two daughters. Well after a month, she called me crying for help. I was in Vegas, she in Pa with nobody close by to help. I moved to help her. She has two kids that need special care most of the time. Single mom. So, be sure and way all your options before moving away from mom and dad! It wasn’t easy moving here but i had to help my daughter and grandbabies.
One of my kids did the same. I won't move, but I do what I can through small amount child care funds & send food gift cards when I can. They're job be transferring them back come spring.
Jordan, maybe you could do a pros and cons comparison. Not all in one sitting, just as you are going about your day.....have one place where you write down your thoughts, your research on hospitals, cost of living etc. etc. I am in Western Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh and we have UPMC Health System, excellent renowned for many things including transplants. My hepatologist is at Mercy(part of UPMC). Some parts of Pittsburgh are very pricy but there are still many affordable, safe, family neighborhoods. I'm sorry I do not have any information to help you with insurance costs/preexisting etc. My only bit of advise would be, if you move away from family, try not to choose a place with an expensive cost of living.....I know, I know everything is expensive.
I’m in Orlando (Lake Nona). All is well. By the time Ivan hit, it was a tropical storm so we were blessed to not lose power or have flooding during the storm. Lots of wind and rain tho. Neumours Children’s hospital is super close and they are a great! Advent Health also has an excellent children’s hospital. Come on to Florida! You and the boys would love it! However I will say it’s kind of expensive… $1825 for a 1 bedroom😢. Nice area tho., close to work, & shopping. Hopefully the housing market will die down. I’m waiting to buy again next year, and hopefully the prices will lower. Loving the videos! Be blessed!
I moved out to San Antonio from NYC after college for a job offer. I didn’t have any family in Texas in general. Fast forward 1.5 years later I had my daughter and I moved back to NYC the minute she could get on a plane. Although I loved Texas and it would’ve made more sense financially to stay, my mom convinced me to move back to NYC because she said I’d need help with the baby and she wanted to be there for us. To this day, I still don’t know if I made the right decision in moving back because I lost my entire career in moving back to NYC and I’m still trying to find my footing. That being said, as long as YOU feel okay and secure in your job, move wherever will make you happiest for your baby girl!
Ohh that’s so tough! It’s a difficult one, I feel stuck in my current location but I fear my boys missing out on their grandparents. We will see what happens, it feels nice to not feel alone though, thank you for sharing! ❤️❤️❤️
@@JordanBudgets GIrl I truly truly understand where you are coming from! That's why I haven't moved again, because I love the relationship with the grandparents. You got this though! Whatever decision you make will be in your family's best interest regardless!
I moved out of state 3 years ago & it was the best thing ever. I do not have family here, but I didn't rely on my family back home either so there was really no change. I love to experience new things & I'm very independent so it wasn't a big deal for me to leave my home state. 🙂
Florida is great but if you want to own a home please know that the windstorm, homeowners and flood insurances are extremely high. In many cases they are more monthly than the principle payment on the home.
I lived up the road from family my whole adult life finally moved out of my hometown away from all family an even though I miss them it's been a great move. I'm not sure how Texas is with chip but when I had it for my son here it was a super easy process not sure income brackets on it though. It sucks its different in every state
Jordan it is always scary when making a move like that. I did it from my family but it is a different situation than yours. It was very toxic for my two kids and myself. It has been so refreshing to be away from that. I am also a single mom, but you will find more people that can help (sometimes) in better ways. I know the boys has some medical situations that you have to think about as well. I would suggest looking up the drs and their reputations. Then complete a pros vs cons checklists. The medical insurance would be the biggest pro in my book
I am in the Panhandle approximately 45 mins from Panama City. So, that would be approximately 2.5 to 3 hrs from Pensacola I a small rural town. Rent is close to what you are paying now, schools are nice and extracurricular activities and town events. However, hospitals would be a travel for the kind of care that your children will need. Either Jacksonville or Pensacola.
I moved from CA to NC without knowing a soul...within 6 months, my parents had built a new home on the other side of the border in SC and left CA. Sometimes family support will arrive whether you need it or not 🤣
Don't know about healthcare insurance prices or Medicaid options for your type of income, but I know that Little Rock, AR has a great Children's Hospital and associated clinics
I hope you make an envelope for moving expenses, it cost like $7500 for us to move out of California to Wyoming and that was like 8 years ago. All I’m saying is don’t underestimate cost. Good luck with your decision 😊.
Florida is expensive, even if you choose to live in the middle of no where there’s just no good drs. I’m originally from NY. Lived in Florida for about 8 years. I am in TN now. About an hour from Nashville. You can find rentals for about 1100 for a 3 bedroom. Plus that hospital system is much better. My husband has insurance through work so I’m not sure how that’d work for you.
Thanks for sharing your journey. You've inspired me to start my own(not recorded yet though). I am also a homeschooling single mom and still navigating a lot of stuff. I would love to order something from your store soon but I'm in Jamaica and need to figure out how to get it here -saving for that
I would suggest to move to a surrounding county of Alachua County. UFHealth Shands is in Gainesville, the county seat for Alachua County, and is a really great hospital system and leads the way in innovative research. It is also a Level 1 trauma center. I live in a little two stoplight town in North Florida. I would honestly suggest moving to Columbia, Union, or Levy County. All are within an hour to Gainesville and have more inexpensive home options. Alachua County is higher tax county.
Agreed!!! It’s one of my favorites. I color in two each week, A 1 and a 30 then a 2 and a 29. So each week I put $31 in and let me tell you it builds up fast and then I take a trip to Costco!
I live in Orlando and there are a bunch of hospitals around! I want to move to altamonte springs though because it seems to be more affordable and still close to all the action of Orlando! I hope this helps!
I live in Central FLorida - Casselberry (A suburb of Greater Orlando) - many areas still recovering from flooding. I would say also look at tax differences for your business. Cost here are not low. Much more activity in Central Florida than up in the Western part of the state. Tons of hospitals here - I am a nursing professor and worked as a nurse here for 33 years plus. I jsut got my own apartment - recent divorce - and cost here have been outrageous - depends on where you want to live and requirements. Feel free to message me if you have more specific questions and I will do my best to answer from my experiences - I am a native Floridian too LOL.
A bit further than you'd be looking to move, but I moved as a young adult from Florida to Atlantic Canada (yeah, you do funny things for love lol). It was a bit of a slog at first, but we did finally find our groove and we're doing okay. The thing is though... we have kids now, and I really WISH we had family close by to help and be there for the kids. We're doing okay on our own but it would be so much nicer if we didn't have to do it all by ourselves. And I have an awesome hubby to help me out too.
I am from Florida and lived there until I was 35. I raised 5 of my 7 kids there for half their lives. If I were to go back with medically needy kids, I would consider Gainesville, or if you want a bigger place, Jacksonville or Orlando as you mentioned. I have first hand knowledge of the medical facilities in these cities, and all are state of the art with the latest and greatest!! I'd consider how much traffic and crime I'd be willing to tolerate as well. There are small towns around these big cities that would be a more pleasant environment in which to raise kids. I despise Pensacola...my son has lived there for over a decade and though I am happy that we are close enough to him for frequent visits, it's not a place I'd ever live to raise kids. I don't have any first hand knowledge about the medical facilities there tho, but in my imagination, I'd compare them to the coast with a few more specialists available. Hope that helps!
I would look really closely at the rent rates right now in central Fl as well. Right now 2 bedroom apartments are going for $1,900. If you want a 3 bedroom house you are looking at $2,400. I would look and make sure you will actually be saving money with the health insurance break.
If / when I move it would be once I’m ready to purchase. I can’t find anything affordable to buy in my current area or in Florida 😅😅😅😅 us renters really are stuck right now. ❤️❤️❤️
You may want to check what Medicaid options there are for children with special needs in other states. I am a caseworker in Pennsylvania & we have a program called PH95 category for children and it is NOT based on parent’s income - just medical disability.
I live in Tampa Florida and the housing market is crazy. I just bought a modest 3 bedroom , 2 bath home and it was 417k. Housewares selling as fast as they are listed. Hard to find anything to buy. Rentals are ridiculous. People are turning their garages into studio apartments and charging 1500+ for them. I don't know about any other areas of Florida but I would say you might want to wait.
It was always my dream to move to central fl to have more opportunities. But after the recent hurricane and the extreme costs of living costs I have decided to stay put for now. I would look into any other states beside fl. I hear it is really hard for them to give assistance to their current residents.
I've had soft income businesses for years and I have always put aside 30% of whatever I earned and I report every penny rounding up change. If you sell something that cost $5 multiply it by .30 ( $5.00 x .30 = $1.50) so $1.50 goes towards taxes. Take it out and put it in a savings or money market account that accrues daily. When tax time comes even if there could be changes in the tax law, you can pay your taxes when you do your taxes. You do not want to make payments to the IRS because they accrue interest daily also. You don't mess with the IRS, be smart and be ready. Keep clean receipts and be transparent as possible. Clean receipts mean do not mix work expenses with personal expenses and transparent means keep excellent records and record every penny, round your totals, and write on your receipts what you used it for in your business. Your tax man will be able to provide you with guidelines regarding what is reimbursable and what is not.
This was very helpful thank you so much Vivian! I'm trying to get everything ready for my tax person this month so we can discuss everything and get me on the right foot. Your suggestions and knowledge on this is very helpful and appreciated! 💗💗💗
Look into states that will pay you to be your Child's Caregiver in the event that their health needs that from you💙 On the other hand, Florida has an Educational Scholarship that could help with their homeschooling.
Edited to add: your best bet I think would be to find a local health insurance broker (not agent, a broker). I don’t think anybody else is going to know more about the topic and be able to answer your questions better. I just spent a bunch of time trying to look things up for both Florida and Mississippi and I got confused 😆…so maybe reach out to a broker who does this stuff day in and day out. Sending good vibes 😎 Would you have the option of moving to the western tip of Florida, having that health care coverage, and still driving to their medical team and medical appts in NOLA? I know it would add 1 1/2 hrs each way to the drive to and from NOLA, but if you’re happy with their current team then that could be a workable option (if it’s possible to do anyway). Thanks for another great video ❤
I think moving for your boys would be great. As for you going to TN. Did you check on TN care it is a Medicaid program through the state. I know it’s been years for me but as a single mother my kids did qualify I worked full time. Also, if you can qualify may I suggest The Knoxville area. The have both the University of TN medical center and a great children’s hospital. Or at least did.
I love all your categories and budgeting. I wish I started and would of been on track with this. Moving is exhausting especially with 2 children. It’s sad that there isn’t a decent medical plan for them. I’m just concerned for you to move without family support around you. 🙏❤️
Check your clearance areas at Walmart they may have pool chemicals on sale they did at my local Walmart and they were drastically reduced that way you can save a little money put them in your garage or whatever that way next year you won’t have to pay full price for your pool chemicals. If you decide to move to Florida I’m going with you lol I’m actually looking to move next summer finally close to my parents who are only 3 1/2 hours away because of their failing health I wanna make sure that I can take care of them. I know what you’re thinking when it comes to medical I have to think the same way I have to be close to a children’s Mercy for neurosurgery for my daughter Jessica
We live in Florida and have three children with special needs. I would highly encourage you to look into the services available in other states. My kids are currently on the waitlist for the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) which grants Medicaid waivers to kids with disabilities, and the waitlist is 7 years long. But otherwise, moving to Florida has been really great for our family.
I can’t believe there is a waiting list for services for disabilities, that doesn’t seem legal. 😭 My boys aren’t termed disabled so they don’t qualify for any services that way, if you can believe it, Florida is the only state that I’ve found so far that will allow you to buy in to CHIP no matter what your income is. It’s almost the only option I’ve found as a business owner with kids with preexisting conditions. I’m going to keep researching though, Florida does seem overwhelmed in a lot of areas. Thanks for sharing and allowing me to brainstorm with you! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I honestly hate moving. It feels like it takes a whole 6 months to a year to really settle in. Then smth happens and you have to move. 😩 I can't stand Florida heat, but if you can and it works with your kiddos' medical expenses, why not? 🤔
@@BrittanieRaynor I know! 🤣Ironically, I have an English degree and the teacher focuses on English and spelling. 🥴I hired her at a time when I reallllyyyy needed more help for my sanity sake.
Girl I have $9 and was trying to order some trackers but it’s only allowing them in digital download and I don’t have a way to print them

Will do, thank you Shannon! 💕
Praying for your sons
Hey Chrissy, thank you! 💕
I honestly hate moving. It feels like it takes a whole 6 months to a year to really settle in. Then smth happens and you have to move. 😩 I can't stand Florida heat, but if you can and it works with your kiddos' medical expenses, why not? 🤔

Hello girly
Hey girl heeeyy!! So excited for all your new content Chrissy! 💕💕💕
Good idea about hiring a tax consultant
Yes girl I'm so lost I don't even want to pretend, haha. 💕
Whoa! $400 a MONTH for 4 days?
I know 😅😬
@@JordanBudgets im happy your boys are getting extra support for their schooling....but GIRL you could teach them the same thing for literally free 🤣🤣
@@BrittanieRaynor I know! 🤣Ironically, I have an English degree and the teacher focuses on English and spelling. 🥴I hired her at a time when I reallllyyyy needed more help for my sanity sake. But I think next semester I’m completely changing up how I handle their schooling. (And doing away with all the teachers and homeschool classes that have fees.)
@@JordanBudgets you do what works for you and your boys! Financially and mentally (for both your sake and the boys' I will say though I'd much rather listen to my mom than a teacher 😂
30% for taxes but your kids are a write off
