I came up with a small cheat that makes the transition from F to Dm easier. He showed the mini bar F so if you keep the bar up then you only have to move your other 2 fingers over to reach Dm.
I used to believe that as well. Till I watched pretty much most videos on here and they are all like that. Learning rhythm by sight or sound is much better for you in the long run then someone telling you what to play. It's all part of the learning process. He can't play the guitar for you, or teach you how to read or identify notes. That is up to you.
I never understood why people complain about help with the strum pattern. Uh, listen to the song and play it that way? What's so hard about that? Plus this is a video... you can see what he's doing...
keep your pick hand moving and just come off the strings at the appropriate intervals. just practice 'down up up' for five minutes straight. you'll get the strumming pattern down after that
That's one odd way of fingering an Am chord my man. And BTW, the song verse alternates between each line of the chords from having the Dm and not having it example Am- F- Dm- G, Am- F- G, Am- F- Dm- G, Am- F- G etc.
your lesson is great, but where the hell did you learn to play an A minor and a D minor chord, while using those fingers ? it's an absolutely no-go if you want to learn honest guitar and learn further stuff on it.
Too all of you asking what the strumming pattern is, practice and listen. I hate when all they do is ddduudu, ect. Guitar is a feel and listen... Book smart people will fail trying to learn that way.
Dude what is up with your Am chord! Is it just me or are you playing something else?, for the people looking for strumming patterns not all songs follow a certain simple pattern watch him and listen to the song !
Everyone needs an excuse. Seeing DDDUUUDDDUUDDDUDD sure as hell never helped me, I need to strum it out, hear it, feel the rhythm, then I am good. Everyone learns differently, I suppose, but being able to hear a rhythm and reproduce it by ear is going to be massively valuable when you are playing in a group setting, no matter what. "Uh, its down down up down up up down up...and some stuff..." Doesn't work well.

Dude, not all guitarists clean the fretboard. The dirt built up on it is symbolic in the way that is shows you play a lot. Might not make sense to everyone. Its just a preference thing. If it has built up that much, chances are they are keeping it that way.

The lower two fingers on the A minor are the wrong way around. It's really weird, although it would probably make switching to the F easier.
