      I have to agree with you there. I considered buying one when they first came out but after my last fiasco of a truck purchase (2004 Ford F150 with 5.4 triton 3 valve engine) I will not buy another vehicle in its model year. I believe they made the Nissan Titan XD with the v8 Cummins engine for only 3 years and about half of them had catastrophic engine failures and can’t even get the parts to fix them. Dodged the bullet on that one.
      Also - all the Ford and GMC / Chevy diesels from 2012 to 2019 used a CP4 fuel injector pump that self destructs causing replacement of the entire fuel system.

    2nd at 37,000 miles the engine took a crap on me. Dealer thought it was a mds solenoid. Upon further inspection the engine was self destructing do to the oil pump Design. Warranty will replace engine with brand new engine. I will upgrade the oil pump for more volume. (Not pressure) the same pump that is in the demon or hellcat. Mopar in general has been battling issues pretty much forever. What are Dodge's known for? Transmission failures. 318? Bad valve guides and blowing smoke/blown engines. Head gasket issues... I could just as easily say all the hot rod engines in stunt cars on TV? 99/100 engines are the SBC 350 with either the Turbo 350 or 400 transmission. With a Ford 9" rear end. There's almost always never a Dodge/Mopar/Chrysler part IN a performance vehicle, just the shell or exteriors 😂😂😂❤

    I've owned a 2023 F150 Platinum FX4 with the Powerboost option since it was brand new:
    (1) The infotainment system of this truck keeps shutting down on its own every day;
    (2) The gas engine shuts down constantly but when it starts up, a very annoying strong jerk is felt every time and I wish that the auto shut-off system could be deactivated;
    (3) Up to a year ago it was getting 20.7 mpg average with the OEM tires, but since I changed the OEM tires with taller, more aggressive off-road tires, now I'm only averaging 17.7 mpg.

    I got to experience the issue noted at time 3:28 the spark plugs shooting gallery. I was one of the first F150 owners. Ford told me it was not covered under warranty due to spark plugs being not covered under warranty. I argued that it was not a plug, it was probably an over torqued plug and the cheap aluminum heads stripped out! I had 32,000 miles on it. I had the truck in for a diagnostic at 20,000 miles for a knocking issue. They told me they could not find anything. They settled with me for almost half the cost of the replacement of the head. I sold the truck at 30,000 at a loss.

    In recent months I've seen a 2015 GMC Sierra w/ 64k miles, and a 2015 Chevy Silverado w/ 75k miles, both w/ the Displacement on Demand 5.3L engines and BOTH needing engine replacements. The GMC even had an issue w/ the electronic steering system causing it to go 1948 Hay truck as far as steering, HIGHLY unsafe in my opinion....
    I'm of the belief actually that MOST trucks, cars as well, produced since the turn of the century have been extremely lackluster in mechanical quality. One COULD point the finger at the manufacturer's, due to their ideology of "Planned obsolescence" forcing people to drive newer, high maintenance vehicles requiring computer upgrades instead of the way it used to be where folks learned how to maintain their own cars and could, and would, work on it themselves.

    And my neighbors and coworkers give me crap about NEVER giving up on my 92 GMC k1500 with the 350. Sure it's a throttle body, but I'm going to slap new performance heads, new intake and a big 4 barrel carb on top, install a mechanical fuel pump and msd ignition. Pretty much make it purely mechanical. Old school tech has been tested and proven reliable and easy/cheap to fix with pretty much no trouble shooting, especially since there's NO computers screwing everything up!!! Sure, rust is an issue, but replacement body panels is fairly cheap and there are so many aftermarket parts out there, options for customization are nearly limitless, plus it's got the SBC 350, you wanna compete with longevity with me???

    • @boofer22811

      Just putting shorty headers on, k&n air filter with air filter lid turned upside down got me from 9mpg to 16.5mpg at 65mph, which is ONLY 3mpg less than my 2019 f150 with the 2.7 Ecoboost. And after I add the additional performance parts to my 350, I'm going for efficiency and torque, so mileage will improve on the highway. Granted HP is going UP quite a bit, and that downside is abysmal mpg in the city. Once I get it all set up, I expect it will last another 25-30 years, with minimal issues, as it's all mechanical. No electrical gremlins to cause issues or failures.

    It's especially disappointing to read of the problems with the 2022 Chevrolet Colorado, as this was the last year of that generation. I notice the 2023 and 2024 Colorado models aren't mentioned, possibly because those models are too new to have much of a track record. But I know those Colorado (and GMC Canyon) versions have a 2.7L turbo four that I'm curious to know about. I've heard conflicting reports about the reliability in the larger Silverado 1500. My gut feeling is that the 2.7L turbo-4 also has its share of problems. In any event, from what I've read, that turbo four is not only noisy but also thirsty for gas, which seems to me to defeat the purpose of a downsized engine. We shall see.
