While he plays for the other team, I still respect Jason Shaw. He's a true gentleman and excellent dad. A real class act all the way. While I root for team USA, I still view Jason as the apotheosis of a pool player. One could learn a great deal from watching and emulating Mr. Shaw both at the table and away from it.

Things I hate about 9 ball: 1. Your shots can count FOR your opponent if you miss a shot. 2. Slop shots/flukes count. 3. You can win with a simple combo, making luck more of a factor. 4. It is difficult in the beginning but much easier in the end. Less balls in the way. 5. Luck is even more of a factor in the beginning. Could run out 5 times in a row simply with lucky breaks. I prefer 8 ball. Big breaks matter more there too. Have the option to decide which balls to go after. Just my opinion.

While I agree with most of what you're saying, I disagree with the end. IMO 10 ball is the best. Takes all the good things about 9 ball, and fixes the "lucky" part. No flukes, no golden breaks, and no early winning combinations. Much better than 8 ball... Not to say that 8 ball is not a good discipline, I just prefer rotation.

Commentators don't understand what the players are talking about sometimes... @22:07 "Just make it" means to not worry about the position because it would be doing too much to pot that tough shot and focus on positioning (due to added on throw or squirt). Even if it was sarcasm, that was a bad joke.
Also, miss from Bergman, that cue ball already left after a long enough time, so "getting up" doesn't even matter anymore. He was still for quiet a while. Bergman also tried to throw that two in with English, but it needed more throw.
In Shaw's miss on the two, he expected the cut induced throw to kick in, but it didn't really kick in.

@@maurosantino9019 Names don’t matter if you know what you’re doing. Tired of players thinking a name matters. That’s how you get hustled. I have a full time job, no time to turn pool into a career but I love the game so much that I know my fundamentals well, strategy, and the physics of the game. As an apa 7, I run one every other game. Spent a lot of my free time watching the pros and scoured the web to learn the game over years.
