So to have a really fat bass/kickdrum (which has been used in techno and harder styles of EDM) is to boost the kick or bass around 90-200hz range, which is the area that pushes through to casual listening devices. It's also a safe measure for sound systems that can't handle low frequencies that well.

The "LF" band on the SSL EQ is actually a low shelf which is why your sub got boosted so much. Also the frequencies on the "LMF" band are in kilohertz initially so when you set it at .3 you were boosting around 300hz. If you want to boost in the 100-200hz range you have to push the ÷3 button and then set the frequency knob around 0.5 khz to get a boost around 160hz. its a pretty confusing way of designing an EQ honestly.

Also, I've been duplicating the bass n pitching it up an octave then EQing separately to avoid phasing. Would you say your method is better to skip the phasing bs?
